House Dorms : Yay or Nay?

While I loved having the dorm at first, it's becoming less and less fun. In my dorm, there is one other active member who never pops in the dorm. Then there's one on and off active member who sometimes pops in. It seems there are similar complaints with other dorms. I wish we could get it going, but I have no idea how.

I am a memeber of a dorm but i haven't been in there in a while. To be honest, they don't get much use except for like a privatec hat between two or three members.

I do think that theory is good though, it's just not really effectiv ein prsctice.

I agree with Katie.

As a Head of House, I don't particularly like the dorms because it's my responsibility to keep them updated etc. and because they're not too active it's something that gets left to last.

In Gryffindor at least they don't get too much use, and as I mentioned I tend to forget about them.

My vote is to remove them.

I agree with what everyone else said. I dont actually go into there at all as they are nine times out of ten - innactive

It would be a shame to loose a subforum though so perhaps we could have something else in its place.

Just an idea - what about a subforum that only allows certain members in if they have passed certain challenges (initiating them in) andor are very acctive etc?

the huffie dorm are fun and now we are currently in a challenge against the other dorms. so pleassseee keep them

The dorms were really great when they were organized.... now people in mine are off track, and use it to boost their posts. If I miss a day, I have to go back a cpouple pages to catch up... so I just stoped droping in.

I am foor taking away dorms though it would be good to see something in its place - a secial forum sounds good though I dont know how it would work

ive made my views on the dorms very clear to other HoHs at one point the Huffie dorms were SO quiet that i closed them. The amount of work we, HoHs have to do to keep them up to date and active is unbelievable.

At the moment theres a dorm challenge in Huffie and ive only seen one dorm actually doing something about it, i think if more members were as commited to the dorms and the challenges then i would say keep them. But right now i feel like i always have done and think they should close.

We have a games forum within our houses, we have the events there as well and quidditch, i liked Chelle's idea a lot, allow those hard working members the chance to experience a place to go, a reward for their hard work.

It has been a difficult decision, as I dearly love my dormies but .... we haven't been really active in a while now and I see it's the case with most dorms around, and I also realise how much work they must be for the HoH, therefore I voted to remove them. It's really a pity, but it doesn't seem to me that they can be revived too soon.



However, I must also admit having the dorm made my life as newbie (waaay back when I was one xD) much easier and heped me to integrate. ... tough decision, as I've said. .. but then again, I guess there are also newbies who are feeling somewhat let down by belonging to an unactive dorm.... :/
