violetriddle vs. Alice Cullen

You will be allowed a maximum of six posts each, and you may use known spells from HP, or spells of your own creation.

You will not be marked purely on how long your posts are, yet you will be marked on the following;

* Eye for surroundings
* Defensive and offensive spells (both what spells are used and how well they are used)
* Knowledge of spells
* Eye for detail (both your own posts and others posts)
* Inventiveness and creativeness as a whole

Check the main forum for the howlers containing the duelling rules and how to duel guide. Please avoid one sentence posts. Try to develop your duelling posts into more than one paragraph.

Violet woke up, having fallen asleep on the couch in the Common Room. She had been doing her homework and seem to do that a lot. Not that she cared, she didn’t have her dorm set up anyway, so the couch seem to be a the best place. Violet stood up, stretching her arms and legs out. She was stiff from the position she had been in just seconds ago. She picked up her books, putting them back into her bag. She let her thoughts wonder into bliss before a thought came to her.

She looked at her watch and sighed. She was thankful for waking early today. Not only had she forgotten homework, she had forgotten that she had a duel today. She walked up to the dorm and grabbed her clothes, walking back down stairs. She would just bribe someone to let her into the prefect’s bathroom…even though she could get in trouble. She didn’t really care, she just needed to get a shower today. Not seeing a prefect anywhere, she walked into the girls bathroom and decided to just magical wash her hair and get dress.

Minutes later, she emerge from the girls bathroom, still feeling like she had dirt in her arm. She shrugged, running her hand threw her hair. She didn’t mind, she was just waiting for the duel to be over. She smiled, walking down the hall anyways, her stomach making a funny noise. “Hush it…I’ll murder you to..” She hissed, ignoring the looks of confusion around her. She laughed at herself, knowing if her Ratty would be near her, she would laugh at her.

She walked down to the Great Hall, stopping only to get some toast. She wasn’t has hungry as her stomach made it seem. She walked in, stealing toast from some first year and she giggled, the pour first year trying to curse her. “Better luck next time kid.” She said, biting into the toast. She skipped down to where she would have to duel at, her bag on her shoulder.

She smiled, noticing her name and Alice’s name was on the door. She pushed it open, pouting when she didn’t see her beloved Ratty’s sister anywhere. “Aww and I wanted to have fun…” She mumbled, crossing her arms like a three year old. She laughed to herself, pulling her wand out. She would practice some spells and read up on some just so she could be ready for anything. She knew that just because she was good with a wand didn’t mean she was fast with reacting quickly. She sighed, growing bored.

“Alice, oh Alice. Where art thy Alice?” She asked, giggling to herself at how funny she sighed. She was growing mad and she could tell it. She stood up, looking at the mirrors across the room. “REDUCTO!” She yelled at it, making it shatter. She smiled, knowing the spell shouldn’t do that, but it was a human being and it couldn’t be moved out of her way, besides it being shattered the way it did. She noted she should use the spell at least once.

Alice woke up to the dull buzzing of her alarm clock. Alice groaned and rolled over. It was a Saturday, why would she have set her alarm on a Saturday? This was when she was supposed to be able to sleep in. A nagging voice inside the back of her head reminded Alice that she probably had a very good reason, and Alice had this odd feeling she was forgetting something. 'Quidditch?' Alice asked herself, 'Nope, your not subbing for Rigby yet. Plus Ravenclaw arent playing this weekend'. Alice frown, totally confused. She dragged herself out of bed and trampled over to her calender. Alice gasped in shock. How could she have forgotten? Dueling began today! According to her messy scrawl, Alice was supposed to be versing Violet today. She suppressed a groan with great difficulty. Violet was excellent with a wand and knew more curses than the rest of the school combinded, but more than that Alice thought of her as a friend and hated dueling her friends. It made her feel bad to be jynxing them which caused her to hesitate. Alice had a sinking feeling that told her Violets supreme wandwork and her own hesitation would probably be her downfall. Alice sigh and pulled on the dueling clothes the had prepared, Three-quarter length black tights with a loose, dark blue cotton shirt. Alice was going for comfort as well as clothes that were unlikely to get in her way while she dueled. Alice pulled her long blondeish hair into two plaits that bopped as she walked, giving her a great resemblance to someone sweedish.

Alice quickly ducked into the Great Hall, grabbing a cinnimin muffin before making her way towards the dueling rooms. Alice slowly nibbled on her muffin as she walked, she was far too nervous to eat anything solid. Alice glanced at her watchand sighed, relising that it was now late morning and Violet had most likely beaten her to the dueling room. Alice arrived quickly and found the door labbeled 'violetriddle vs. Alice Cullen'. Alice placed her hand on the door know when she heard Violet speaking from inside the room and paused to listen.

“Alice, oh Alice. Where art thy Alice?” Violet asked, followed by a crazy sounding laugh. She then proceedend in smashing somthing which sounded big. Alice stopped at the door, fearing slightly for the girls sanity. Alice then remebered that Violet was friends with her sister, Bella, and anyone who was her friend was bound to be a little looney.

Alice grinned, the adreniline she recieved before duels seeping into her bloodstream. She threw open the door and saw Violet standing near the center the room. Alice looked around and saw the walls were completely covered in mirrors, except a small patch that looked like the mirror had shattered. Alice connected it to the crashing noise she had heard moments ago. Alice was slightly disoriented when, whilst looking into the mirrors, she saw about 50 reflections of herself stareing at about 50 Violet reflections, wands raised. Shaking her head and focusing on the girl infront of her, Alice waved her wand and said, Expelliarmus (disarming Charm)''. She then dived behind one of the manny pillars in the room, watching Violets reflection to see how she reacted to the simple spell.

Violet had looked behind her, hearing the door open. She smiled at Alice, nodding once. After what seemed like years, she heard Alice yell the disarming charms. Quickly, Violet raised her arm up, yelling Protego. She smiled as the spell bounced off, heading back towards Alice. “STUPFY!” She yelled, making it follow behind Alice’s spell. She looked, wondering if She could block both, that was, until she saw her behind the pillars.

“Aww come on….how fun is it, if you hide before we start?” Violet asked, raising an eyebrow. She looked back at her and sighed. She made a chair out of the broken glass and sat down, looking at her. “When ever you are ready.” Violet said, keeping her wand at a distance for her protection.

Alice watched in the mirror as Violet blocked her disarming charm with a sheild charm, and proceeded to send a stunning spell and where she had been standing only a few seconds ago. But as she had dived behind the pillar, both spells missed her. Violet, however, did not seem pleased that Alice had hid behind the pillar for protection and cast a spell on the broken glass so that it turned into a chair and sat down. “When ever you are ready,'' Violet called to Alice. Alice tried hard not to grin. Violet was complaining about her hiding so she sat down to wait? From Alice's experience This was where Violet should attempt to get around the pole and continue the duel, but obviously Violet wasnt that kind of person so Alice rose to her feet as quietly as she could manage. Her back pressed up against the pole, she slide round until Violet was just in her view. ''Vea a enemigos (See Enemies)'', Alice wispered, hoping Violet wouldnt hear. If the spell hit her, Violet would see enimies behind her everytime she turned around, and Alice was counting on the many mirrors to amplify the effect.

Alice then jumped out, leaving the small amount of protection she had left behind. She pointed her wand at Violet. ''Onda de marea (Tidal Wave)'' Alice yelled, sending a large wave of water crashing down in the girls direction. Smirking slightly now, Alice waited until the water was totally surrounding Violet before saying ''Helada (Freeze)''. It didnt matter if Violet had used some kind of sheild charm to prevent herself getting wet, she would now be buried under a reasonable amount of ice. Alice smiled, knowing she had only a few moments before Violet broke out.

''Libración (Hover)'', She said, placing a charm on herself to elevate her slightly of the ground. Alice then pointed her wand at the ground and said ''Arena movediza (Quicksand)''. Alice then hovered a few centimeters above the ground, waiting for Violet to free herself. A sudden thought struck Alice so she wispered, ''Pared invisible (Invisible Wall)''. Just incase Violet escaped and sent a nasty curse her way, as Alice knew she didnt have the best reaction time. Her wall was solid, almost like concrete but would crumble after being hit by a spell. Alice had also elected to make it invisible to avoid more snide comments by Violet.

Violet watched as a light off a spell came towards her and she ducked down on the floor, rolling to the other side. She glared and stood up, hearing something else. Seconds later she was soaked and she pulled her walled out in front of her. “Firbot!” She screamed towards the new spell heading towards her. Just the look of it and the thought of water made one thing come to mind. She smirked, knowing the spell was useless now.

“STUPFY!” She yelled at her. She hoped it would hit her, but she had the thought that Alice was good at blocking the spell. She growled softly, but loud enough for Alice to hear. She heard another spell directed at her and before she could think of something, the ground started sinking. Violet cursed under her breath, looking at the quicksand. “Brefle.” She hissed towards Alice. She didn’t think about it again and yelled stupfy right after it.

She looked down, wondering how to get out of the quicksand. “Ropey.” She said to the ceiling, watching ropes fall from the ceiling. Violet wrapped her arms around it right and pulled herself up, panting. She had used to much strength to get out and was out of breath. She looked back at Alice before yelling brakers. She watched the light pink bolt shoot from her wand, hoping it would hit. If anything, she would be confused while sweating badly, as thought she was under the sun.

Violet turned her chair into a table. She put many charms on it to keep it from being broken or destroyed. She hid behind it for a moment, thinking of a spell. “Proper.” She yelled towards Alice. After she sent that, she sent two stupefies and a tickling charm towards her. She doubted she could block each spell at the same time so she watched , every spell she had just said was sent towards her. Violet sighed, holding her head.

(firbot-shoots fire. brefle-makes your hair fell like its falling out. proper- makes you fell numb all over. brakers- makes you start sweating)

Alice saw Violet duck away from her first spell, but was glad she had been hit by her tidalwave. She shot fire out of her wand, melting the ice before it even had a chance to form. The the quicksand set it. Violet had sent a stunning spell at her, but it merely hit her wall and bounced off in an odd direction. The spell had, however crumbled Alice's wall, leaving her feeling quite unpretected.

Alice heard Violet growl, and was torn between amusement and fear. Violet sent another spell at Alice which she quickly blocked with a yell of ''Protego (Shield Charm)''. But Alice had to dive to avoid the stunning spell that followed. In the time it took ALice to stand back up, Violet had pulled herself free of the quicksand and the ground returned to normal. A light pink bolt shot out of Violet wand, and Alice had no time to protect herself.

She immeadiately began to feel hot and despite the liberal amount of Rexona deoderent she had applied that morning, could feel herself starting to sweat. ''Fresco (Cool)'', Alice said, pointing her wand at herself. She immeadiately stopped sweating, all feelings of heat gone. Alice looked up at Violet, and saw her hiding behind a table with protective spells on it.

''Who's hiding now?'' Alice said softly, though loud enough for Violet to hear. Violet sent another spell at her, which also hit. It made Alice feel slightly numb, and the headache she had hadtwo seconds ago was gone. ''Protego (Shield Charm)'', Alice screamed, blocking two more stunning spells. She wasnt quick enough to dodge the tickling charm Violet sent, but as Violet had already numbed her it had no effect.

Alice knew that Violet would not be hiding behind that table unless she knew there was no way Alice could destroy it so she wispered ''Copia (Clone)'', hoping Violet wouldnt hear her. Alice instructed her clone attack the table, whilst she crept around the side. The Alice-clone started senting all kinds off spells at the table which stood steady. Alice was impressed with Violets spellwork. The table was fire-proof, reducto-proof, unable to be broken and god knows what else -proof.

Alice smiled. Hopefully, Violet would think it was Alice trying to destroy the table and that she had no hope. Violet would think she was safe for the moment... Alice was now level with the table, having made no noise as she crept. She jumped around the table so she was facing Violet and yelled ''Guirigay (Gibberish)''. If it hit her, Violet wouldnt be able to talk except in Gibberish, meaning she wouldnt be able to say any incantations. The only way Violet could curse Alice was if she used non-verbal spell. Whilst Alice was sure Violet wouldve mastered this, most peoples nonverbal spells were considerably weaker that there verbal spell, and this would give Alice that advantage.

Alice then ducked away from the table. No need the stand there whilst Violet used her for target practise. She used a quick vanishing spell on her clone, as she was no longer needed and turned back to where she thought Violet was.

Violet ducked just as the last spell Alice sent her zoomed towards her. She growled and pointed her wand at her. “Savey Los!” She yelled. She waited to see if the green light would hit her, causing her clothes to feel uncomfortable tight on her and she couldn’t stop it until Violet pulled the curse. She hide behind a pillar for a second before pointing her wand at her again. “STUPFY! SOMPERO!” She yelled in a row. She watched the stunner head towards her but the last one twirl around her, trapping her into what looked like a light storm. She laughed, knowing all you had to do was walk threw it before it closed in on you.

“Come on Alice dear.” She yelled at her. “I’m waiting for you!” She yelled as she pointed her wand at a candle holder that was hanging above her. She yelled something and it snapped. She made it where it wouldn’t hurt it to bad, but enough to give Violet some kind of advantge. She hid behind the pillar again and smirked, waiting to see what would happen. She watched threw the mirror in front of her.
