it's because the mood in the book is changing and maturing into something different than it was in the first few books. But, if you think about it Quirrel died in the first book, Riddle in the second, and...well I don't think anoyone died in the third (not Buckbeak that's for sure. XD) BUt the death rate does get higher because it's helping us to understand the danger of the situation in the books, you know? Everyone is scared of death, whether in books or not.

just kidding, but really...what happened, how did you do that? confused

anywaays, i think that the movies are as dark as the books. it's just you can actually see the movie, and the book you have to imagine it out. but sometimes how you imagine it isn't aways how movie directors imagine it...which is a bummer.

but in the 6th big dark things come out of the dark mark and destroy half of muggle london. that doesnt happen in the book. and the burrow katches on fire how the freakin heck do you explain that. death in last four books Angery_8

Anywhoo I agree with Kim. The mood is just changing and as the Dark Lord gets stronger the magical world becomes more and more dangerous

I think it also reflects the age of the characters, and the people reading the books. Everyone was slightly older, and thus more mature and able to handle death on a better level. Eleven year olds can't appreciate it as well as a fourteen year old - even those three years are the difference between childhood and adolescence.

Oh yes I would have to agree with that. With them getting older times are changing and what's important to them is changing as well. But I really think it has to do with Voldie's rise in power

Like everyone said, I think it's to reflect the greater seriousness of the situation. And as to those two parts in the movie you're talking about, Ian, I think those were supposed to be Death Eaters destroying London but they made them look like they could be "apparating" or something...I've gotta say, I wasn't a fan of that. But I think that's what you're talking about death in last four books 436937
