Great Hall

Bella entered the Great Hall, looking around for someone to sit with. She couldnt see anyone she knew, so Bella sighed and sat down at a random table. She looked up at the roof, expecting to see flocks of owls again.Yesterday morning, millions of them had swooped down at her, and Bella wasnt exactly fond of birds. ''Dirty discusting foul things'', Bella muttered darkly under her breath. She poured herself a glass of Orange Juice, and sipped at it slowly. The sausages looked nice, but Bella didnt eat before noon. Skipping meals helped you loose weight.

Samantha looked up from the days copy of The Daily Prophet to find a girl sitting next to her. "Oh, hello there." she said slowly. She was used to people avoiding her because the fact that she was a prefect. "My name is Samantha Slay. Who exactly may you be?" she asked politely. Samantha turned away and refilled her cup with pumpkin juice, still attentively awaiting an answer. The girl looked hesitant to answer, and she was looking to the ceiling. "The post already cane today." she added on as she waved the paper in the air. She rolled up the sleeves of her sweater and fixed her Prefect badge, so that it was straight.

''Hi, Im Bella'', Bella smiled at the girl. She didnt miss the shiny prefect badge Samantha had pinned to her robes. ''What house are you from?'' Bella asked. Although she wouldnt admit it, especially to this girl she just met, Bella was abesolutley relieved that she had missed the bird invasion. She settled for a simple, ''Oh, really?'' and hoped the releif didnt show on her face.Bella looked at Samantha, trying to figure out if she had ever seen her before in what Bella hoped to be a non-obvious way.

Samantha turned back to the girl who had just introduced herself as Bella and looked at her with a mixture of confusion and amusement drawn across her face. "Slytherin of course, why else would I be sitting at this table?" she said almost musically. "How about yourself?" she asked politely. As Samantha had mentioned the early arrival of the post, the girl before her seemed almost relieved. Deciding that the reason behind this was most likely embarrassing, she lingered on the subject for no more than a second in her mind.

Bella smiled at Samantha. ''I'm in Slytherin too, a fourth year, but I'm kind of new, so I didnt realise we had designated tables'', Bella admited. There were so many wierd rules here, and Bella didnt exactly understand why they needed to seperate into houses, but from her understanding, you were expected to be nicer to people in your house. Bella looked up as she finished her sentance to see a girl skipping across the Great Hall. Bella raised an eyebrow questioningly. It seemed kind of odd behaviour, but the girl sat near them at the table, so Bella didnt comment on her opinion to Samantha incase they were overheard.

Samantha nodded and finished chewing the last bite of her sausage. "Well, some of the people aren't that bad. Just don't get mixed up with the Gryffindors. They are all mad in the head." she said a bit more loudly than she should have. She turned and sneered at a few people robed in crimson at a table across the room. Samantha watched on as a familiar face sat just a bit down the table from them. She turned her attention back to Bella and raised her eyebrow. "So, where is it that you came from?" she asked politely before holding her finger up, motioning for her to wait a second. "Bella dear, would you like to join us over here?" she called to the small girl who had skipped into the Great Hall.

Emmalynn walked slowly into the Great Hall, her eyes barely open. She had no idea why she was up this early. She has never been a morning person and, usually, she slept in until someone forced her to get out of bed.

She stood at the door, for a moment forgetting where she was and what she was doing there, before her eyes focused on the Slytherin table and she started to stumble over. When she finally made it, she all but fell onto the bench. She mumbled a brief hello to her housemates before grabbing a piece of buttered toast and shoving it in her mouth.

Samantha turned her attention to a fellow prefect as she stumbled her way across to the Syltherin table. She laughed to herself as she watched the girl fall over herself all the way there. "Hey Emmalynn." she said through a chuckle. "Why on Earth are you awake so early?" she asked, truly amused as the girl attempted to politely eat breakfast. She turned back to Bella. "Do you guys all know each other?" she asked as she looked around at the three Slytherins. She tried her best to sound polite, because she wasn;t quite sure of the others nature yet.

Emmalynn glanced up at Samantha, slightly uncpmprehending of what was going on around her. She heard her name and a question directed toward her, but she didn't catch what was said due to her current status: falling asleep at the table with her face dangerously close to her plate of eggs. She jerked her head away from the plate and smiled at the prefect next to her.

"Hi S'mantha..." she said, slightly slurring her friend's name before yawning. "I couldn't... get to sleep..." she continued, assuming that the question she was asked had something to do with her being out of bed this darn early.

Bella smiled, and waited for Samantha to finish talking to the skipping girl before answering. ''Yeah, those Griffendor's seem to look at me funny'', Bella smiled, glad that it seemed to be a house emnity thing rather than something to do with herself personally. ''And I'm from France'', Bella told her. ''I attended Beauxbatons Acadamy, but I was... I mean I left''. Bella looked up as another Slytherin came and sat down. She looked dangerously close to passing out where she sat. Bella smiled and nodded. SHe had met Emmalyn before. ''Hey there'', she said softly.

Emmalynn covered her next yawn and grabbed her fork. She did not care whatsoever that she was slouching and acting very unladylike. She looked over at Bella and blindly stabbed food with her fork.

"Hi Bella," she said, managing a small, lopsided smile before bringing her fork to her lips. She briefly glanced at her food and proceded to drop her fork and push away her fork.

"Eggs!" she exclaimed. "Who put bloody eggs on my damn plate?! Is someone trying to make me vomit?" she ranted, now more awake and royally peeved. She grabbed an apple and stared at it. "I hate eggs..."

Elladora entered the Great Hall and looked around. She really wasn't feeling up to dealing with the I-need-to-sound-smarter-than-everyone-else talk her fellow Ravenclaws would provide, so headed over to the Hufflepuff table until she spotted Emmalynn.

"Maly!" she called, plopping down on the bench next to her friend. "Good morning. Oh, look. Eggs! Yum." Elladora started making herself a plate of eggs and looked over at the Slytherins she had probably interrupted.

" 'ello," she greeted. "I'm Elladora in case you don't know."

Bella looked up as another girl headed twards their table. Bella thought she was a Ravenclaw, but wasnt one hundred percent sure. She introduced herself as Elladora, and begun a conversation with Emmalyn. Bella wasnt sure if she had met the Ravenclaw girl, but she decided to introduce herself anyway.
''Hey, I'm Bella'', SHe smiled, ''And you're a Ravenclaw right?''

Bella smiled at Elladora's overly formal greeting, slightly anxiously though as Bella was concerned the bit of sausage speared on the end of Elladora's fork that she was waving around would fly off at hit someone. Someone like Bella, and as Bella was not a fan of flying sausages attacking her, she watched wairily, preparing to duck quickly if the need arose. Bella relaxed a little as Elladora stoped waving the sausage around in order to take a bite. ''Not that I have a problem with you sitting here or anything'', Bella smiled, ''But how come you arent sitting with the ravenclaws?'' Bella asked curiously. She wasnt trying to be rude or anything, and hoped Elladora didnt take offence. Ofcourse Bella only realised that her words could come across as not very nice after she said them. ''I should really think before i speak'' Bella thought to herself.

Elladora chuckled slightly. "Oh, that's because last night we had a debate about the treatment of house-elves and goblins in wizard communities and I pretty much won the debate. That means, that they've spent most of the night thinking of a rebuttle, and I don't feel like debating."

Elladora took another bit of sausage, leaving just the portion on the prongs of the fork. "I've been trying to get them to discuss Wrackspurts with me, but they don't find the interesting enough."

Bella laughed as Elladora explained her reason for staying away from the Ravenclaws. ''That sounds fair enough'', She smiled, ''But then if you dont continue to debate with them arent you only winning now by default?'' Bella asked with a smile. She listened as Elladora continued talking. ''Whats a Wrupsts-thing?'' She asked, midly curious. Bella wondered why the other Ravenclaws werent interested in them. She thought that they loved to overanalyse every overly boring fact of existance.

Emmalynn had listened to Ella and Bella's conversation half-heartedly, her attention mostly focused on her tea and the waffle that had appeared in front of her. She had been surveying the actions of the other tables, mostly the Gyrffindors, when Ella brought up the debate of the previous night. Emmalynn had been witness to the beginning and had thus made a quick escape.

"I've been trying to get them to discuss Wrackspurts with me, but they don't find the interesting enough."

Emmalynn smiled to herself; Ella had been pushing that particular topic for years, and the other Ravenclaws had blown her off every time. It was when Bella asked the dreaded question that Emmalynn re-entered the present.

She groaned, knowing it was too late, and looked exasperated at Bella. "Oh, now you've done it," she said, "You asked, and soon you'll regret it..." She settled in with another waffle to await Elladora's rampage about the Wrackspurts.

"Wrackspurts are invisible creatures that fly through your ears and make your brain go all fuzzy," Elladora said matter-of-factly. "But they're not nearly as interesting as the Crumple-Horned Snorkack." Elladora grabbed a piece of bread and smeared some jam on it, she took a satisfied bite out of it and looked at her feet.

Elladora picked up her messenger bag that seemed to appear out of nowhere and pulled out the latest issue of The Quibbler. She handed it the Bella.

"Here," she said. "It makes for good reading. You'll be able to find some parts written by my mom, Marlene Zeller." Elladora grinned.
