The Tarot- Minor Arcana

The second set of the tarot cards are the Minor Arcana, made up of 56 cards divided into four suits. The four suits are Wands, Pentacles, Cups and Swords. In each suit there are 14 cards.Ten of the cards have numbers 1-10 Each suit has an Ace as well. The other four remaining cards are called Court Cards. They usually consist of King,Queen, Page/Knight/Prince and the Princess Cards.

The Minor Arcana is often called the Less Arcana as it doesnt have as much effect as the Major Arcana. The Minor Arcana is considered to be the set of influence. The ones that influence your decisions and that carry to either in the right or wrong direction.

The first suit is called the Suit of Wands. It is also called "staffs, rods, or staves " in some decks. It represents the element of fire and of doing. Your doing things and pushing with that passion of fire burning in you. You are striving for something. The suit can usually define the points in which way to go, or not to go. It is a great and powerful element. When used correctly, has great out comes when used wrongly it can be devistating.

The second suit is called the Suit of Pentecles. Also referred to as "coins or disks" depending upon the deck in which you are using. The element it represents here is the element of Earth. It deals with worldly and earthly areas of your life. It is a suit of being.
Matters dealt with are Money and finances.

The third suit is called the Suit of Cups. The suit of Cups goes along with the element of Water. It represents the emotional state. It represents "feeling". How one feels, determines their outcome. On matters of the heart especially, it is useful for determining if where the heart wants to go is an advisable option or not.

The fourth suit is called the Suit of Swords. It is associated with the element of Air and "thinking." The Suit of Swords deals with the mind and the mentality and decisions that we think about. It deals with thought processes that often times end up in strife and frustrations.

The Minor Arcana does prove its importance as does the Major Arcana. And both sets are needed, and they work out best when they work together in a reading.
