Japanese Music

Hey guys! - I just noticed the absence of a thread I consider somewhat vital! xD

We need a place to discuss Japanese music, methinks, so I've opened this thread for every type of J-music - be it J-pop, J-rock or anything else your hearts desire.

First of all, who else likes Japanese music? And who are your favourite bands/artists? :D


Personally, I like Arashi a lot - although they're very cheesy haha xD but their music makes me happy! and, Matsumoto Jun = <3; then there's Orange Range to whom I've developed a teentsy little (ok, maybe slightly huge... xD) obsession. They are a bit odd, mind ya - I couldn't possibly find any single style definition for their music, they tend to mix a lot - pop, rock, rap, raeggae, you name it. Which is probably why I find them so interesting! And I do have to admit to sometimes listening to other happy music such as Otsuka Ai, her voice is sooo cute (just in happy songs tho - in ballads her voice often sounds too soppy)! xD And then there's feel-good music, such a Ikimono Gakari, and when I want to relax, I often listen to Yui.

Arashi, KAT-TUN, NewS, Kanjani8, SMAP... but to be honest, in year 2000 or so, I started with Miyavi and Gackt, and stuff like Porno Graffiti and L'arc en Ciel, and stuff xD The JE stuff came on later, the pop stuff.

I was so old school and awesome before that, but gawd, they're os hot <3

I swear to Johnny Kitagawa that there's a curse/blessing over the name Johnny - there's not a single ugly Johnny in the world :D

EDIT: Oh god, those are all boy bands... here's some other stuff; Utada Hikaru, Otsuka Ai...

Hahaha xD I like the slightly guilty-sounding edit, as if, "Oh nooo, I've only put hot boybands there, what was I thinking!" XD

I have to say, I don't really know much other than the name of most of those boybands xD (well, I've heard 1 song by V6 but other than that, just Arashiiii xD) - but yaaay for L'Arc en Ciel! And Gackt!

I only realized afterwards that I had listed, like, ALL the Johnny-bands xD It's a disease with no cure, I'm telling you...

But you gotta admit they're gooooood!
