Longing Train Ride

The air was stale. I could see my cold misty breath through the dark black sky, light only by 4 or less constalations. My arms were bare, only covered in small bumbs layering the top coat of my tan winter skin.
As I walked out my house leaving my little brother alone with nothing else but a note, I felt a hallow ache in my stomach.

Cole,
I want you to know I love you. I know it doesnt make sence as to why I might be leaving, but there is a whole world out there that you dont know about. That I know little about. It consist of magic and powers beyond imagination. Theres a reason baby brother that mom and dad didnt stick around. You know those comic books you read Cole? They have Super Heros, and Vilans. Well Mommy and Daddy met a very bad Vilian a while back. A good friend of mine told me all about this Vilian. Someday when your older Ill tell you more about the story. But as for now Cole, all you need to know is Sissy, is going to learn to be a hero in the magical world. Sister is going to find Mommy and Daddy. I know before I'd usually leave for months and make small visits. But im afraid it will be quite some time before I return. Youll be full grown. As will I. I love you brother. Dont forget that.

The words of the letter flashed before her.

"Platform 9 and 3/4! Platform 9 and 3/4 leaving in 5 minutes!"
I hoped abored with only a small bag and my Hogworts suitcase. I changed into my cloak, wraped my neck in my Ravenclaw scarf, and took a seat. New faces around me laughed and laughed. But I sat and read.
The train ride to hogwarts seemed forever longing

Jace wandered slowly down each train car, searching for an empty seat. He rolled his eyes as he opened a door to reveal two couples snogging. "Oh, sorry." he said as he quickly shut the door. "Ew." he muttered under his breath as he turned towards the sound of laughter. He opened up the door and saw a large group of Ravenclaws sitting around laughing. He was about to leave, when he realized that there was a seat by the window open. "Hey, do you guys mind if I sit in here? I can not seem to find an open seat." he asked in a charming tone. When nobody objected, he took his seat. The window almost instantly fogged up from the heat of his body. He inched away from the window and sighed.

Looking up, he saw someone he hadn't seen there before. She was just sitting there reading a book, but it seemed as though her mind was somewhere else entirely. He studied her face, not speaking a word. She looked full of sorrow, but it was hidden behind a glimmer of hope. Jace felt himself smiling and realized what a git he must've looked.

Grace flipped the pages of her book. She traced the words with the tip of her index finger. Its all just the same. She thought to herself letting out a sigh. A boy came and sat in the train car but she payed no attention to him. Grace just shut her book and studied the cover. She stared out the fogged window. The trees, the grass, the little silent stream, all just passed by so fast. A reflection of the boy in the window showed him staring oddly at Grace. She looked over at him. As you gazed at her she attempted to make questioning eye contact with him.
"The books called Refresh." She said to the boy. She let out crooked smile. But she was puzzled as to why he was so caught on her.
She looked down at the cover. The leaf on the hard back brought memories back. It was fall, she and Cole had been piling leafs onto their trampolyn, just to destroy the piles by jumping with laughter.
The small smile left her face, and she looke back up at the anonymous boy.

Jace watched in silence as the girl began explaining herself. He didn't say a word after she had finished speaking. He just smiled as she let a small crooked grin glow upon her face. When he realized how it must look to her, he thrust his hand forward. "I'm Jace." he said with a slight smile. "Is it any good..? The book." he asked as he nodded his head to it. "I've never really read a book by a muggle. Mum doesn't really allow anything 'muggle' in the house anymore." he said, using air quotes. He let the smile fall off his face as he remembered his home and broken childhood. Realizing that his face was darkening, he let it light back up with a smile. His eyes even seemed to twinkle a bit in the clouded sun outside.

"Writen by a muggle who lived in the wizard world." Grace held her blink a little longer then nessecary. She handed him the book. "Its her story, but its not an autobiography. She makes it sound fiction, so muggles arnt introduced to our world" Grace paused looked out the window where Jace had been focusing. "It focuses on her brother who was a pixi, but through out the story grasps onto her. He ramazing struggles, what all she went through finding her brother through out the series. Iv read it countless times waiting for the next book to come out. You can have this one." Said Grace. She was very social in a shy way. Talked a lot, frieldnly..yet she was so quiet.


Grace looked at the others who had been buying things off the trolly. There were a few first years trying out easy spells that grace by far had exeeded at. She looked back at Jace, out the window, and back at him once again.

"Sorry if this is personal but, your parents seem juddmental. I mean I'm a pure blood, but my brother and sister arnt wizards at all. Why is it the dislike muggles so much. I mean its ridiculous don't you-" Grace stopped herself. For she felt that was an insult to her parent. "Yes too persoanl indeed. I apologize.." she said sighing half way.

Jace smiled and thanked her as she handed him the book. She seemed to speak a bit awkwardly, as the words flowed out of her mouth with ease. He smiled at her as she explained the book to him. He looked down at his hands nervously when she asked him a question. Parents the word lingered in his mind as he tried to smile away the sorrow that it brought to his heart. "Nahh. It's alright. I get that a lot. I'm a pureblood too, but it's not like that. It's just me and my mum. My dad was killed by a muggle when I was 11. I think they called him a.. what are those things called?" he paused momentarily. "Cheerios? Urm. Cereal killer?" he said as he shrugged his shoulders. "Something like that. I don't know." he said as he smiled up at her. "You know, you still haven't told me your name." he hinted at her with a bright grin followed closely by a wink.

Jace was a very flirt guy. He seemed like he had some hiden pain behind each smile. Grace passed a little chuckle as he was questioning what a muggle murder is called. Nodding yes when he said serial killer.

"You know, you still havnt told me your name." Said Jace. Graces grin quickly turned into a embarrassed expresion. Trying to hide that, that she just laughed a little bit.

"Grace, my names Grace!" She was almost star struck with the boy. He was very charming. So she was easily fluttered by his presence.

Jace watched her as embarrassment covered her face. He could tell as soon as she let out a nervous giggle. "Well nice to meet you Grace." he said with a warm smile as he held her hand out to the girl once again. "I already said, but I'm Jace. Jace Jerald Johnson the third. Literally J cubed." he said with a small laugh. He studied her face for a moment before looking back out the window. Leaning back to make sure the window didn't fog up from the heat his body gave off, he stretched his legs before him. He let out an involuntary groan as each muscle seemed to gasp in their own soreness. He hadn't realized until now, but he was actually quite tired. He looked down at his legs and saw that he still had on a pair of blue jeans. "Oh bloody hell." he muttered.

Grace shook his hand forgeting to let go kept conversation with him.
"Bloody Hell indeed. You really should get into your cloak. Its only a matter of time before we arrive. Besides you look tired. A nap should do you well!" She said almost worried. Grace had just met the boy, but he's already left a great impression on her. She so easly became fond of Jace!
"Oh...oh my. I'm so stupid I'm still shaking your hand. I'm so sorry! You must think I'm crazy! Ha ooops. First impressions. Yeah, they're just dandy arnt they!"

Jace smiled as Grace took his hand in hers and forgot to let go. He was surprised that she didn't instantly take her hand away from the heat of his. Her hand felt cool, but alive. It was refreshing to know that he could still make contact with people. "Yeah. You are definitely right about that. I should get changed real quick." he said softly, not wanting her to let go of his hand yet. When she finally did let go, Jace sood to get his school clothes out of the trunk above his head. He stood there with his back to her, rummaging through piles of clothes until he finally found what he was looking for. He could feel all of his muscles moving in unity as he lifted the trunk back up. "Well, as far as first impressions go... Your's wasn't too bad." he said with a slight and charming smile. "I'll be right back." he said as he nodded towards the clothes in his hand.

"As far as first impressions go, yours wasn't too bad." Stated Jace. At that point Graces stomach sunk in. The way he would flirt with her, just made her feel like such a little girl. When you have a crush on someone. He just made her feel so young.

Jace had stood up to sort through his case, his biceps moving, it almost seemed as if he was attempting to non chanontly flex to impress Grace. I have to admit his back side is very good looking. Oh and his muscles are trés bue! Grace took four years of french but she didn't speek much of it at Hogwarts.

"Ill be right back." Spoke Jace. Grace wished right back would come quicker.
"See you when you get back. Your spot will be waiting!" She said flurtaciously.

Jace rushed to the closest place to get dressed and stripped down to change. He figured he wouldn't have much time to talk to Grace before they arrived at the school, and he found that talking to Grace is all that he wanted to do. He folded up his jeans and black tshirt after changing, and began to walk back to the compartment full of laughing faces and a quite girl by the window. He slid the door open and smiled brightly towards her. As he took his seat, he leaned towards her and whispered, "Miss me?" He even topped it off with a charming smile. He slid his clothes into his book bag and set it on the floor beneath his seat.

Hurry back already Jace. Thought Grace has she pulled her hair behind her ears.
"Miss me," whispered Jace.
"Ah! You starttled me!" Grace said Gasping. In her mind she thought yes of course I missed you! But aloud she only said, "you were only gone for less then five minutes." I counted...
"So Jace just making conversation here, but iv never seen you around! Are. You new to Hogwarts?" Questioned Grace.

"Five minutes is enough to start missing somebody." Jace said in almost a whisper as he leaned forward and rested his elbows upon his legs. He wanted her to follow suit, so that he could be closer to her. He didn't quite understand what it was about Grace, but she was so interesting to look at. She had a unique sort of beauty that was hard to come by in people their age. He listened to her every word and breath as she spoke. The words flowed out of her mouth with such ease, that he began to envy her of this talent. "No, I'm not new to Hogwarts at all. Have you never been to a school Quidditch match?" he asked, half amazed that she didn't know him to be the Ravenclaw seeker.

Grace watched as Jace studied her face. He was obvious about his admiration to her, but she was flattered. A girl next to her kept elbowing her so she scooted closer to the windor and crowched forward ceeping her end on the last inch of the seat.
"Well to be honest.." Grace paused. She was a bit embarrassed to admit it, but not like most Hogwarts student she'd been to only one Quidditch game. "Iv been watched one. And even then, I wasnt paying much attention. I guess the game never really caught my eye. Sorry," apologized Grace as she shruged her shoulders and narrowed her smile. Maybe if there just happened to be a cute guy named Jace who played on the team invited the shy me the shy one! To a game Id have more of a reason to go. But no. Drop hints you idiot.

Jace widened his eyes in surprise. "Are you serious? You've only been to one game? That is incredible. Never in my life have I met a person of magic who didn't love Quidditch." he said in a charming tone. He then realized that he must have sounded a bit rude. "Oh, I'm sorry. I'm being a complete git. I just can't believe it. Do you like to fly?" he asked curiously. Before even giving Grace a chance to reply, he continued on. "You'll have to come to all the games this year. You know, just to show support. Ravenclaw is sure to win the cup this year." he said with a bright smile and a twinkle in his eye.

Going to the games would probably show Jace that I like him. And he did just tell me that I should go, maybe he likes me and he wants me there! Is this him showing interest?
When Grace flirts she nibbles on her lip, and down bit her tooth. "Id love to go to the games. It seems like fun, flying. Its not that I have a fear of heights, its more of me being a cluts and a fear of falling hundreds of thousands of feet from the air! So no, Iv yet to even try to fly. Owch!" Grace had bit her lip a little too hard. She pressed her cold pinky finger on her lower lip feeling the blood drip down her pale lip.
"If its not to much of a hastle maybe you could teach me to fly Jace?" Grace clenched her mouth tight trying to hide her enormous smile. There you go Grace. That's a hint your interested he'll sure to pick up!"

Jace beamed over at her as she spoke. He was so taken by her that he barely listened to the words that flew from her mouth with such ease. He noticed that she was biting her lip quite hard, but said nothing of it until a small drop of blood darkened her pale lips. "Are you alright?!" Jace asked worriedly as he stood up from his seat. He turned his back to her and began rummaging through his bags for a hankie. Finally finding one, he whipped it out of his bag with grace and held it to her mouth. She seemed cold. Even cooler than normal, when he makes an effort to actually touch someone. He pulled his hand away, not wanting to frighten her with the heat he was producing. "Oh.. er.. sorry." he mumbled as he dropped the silvery hankie into her lap and took his seat.

Jace pulled out a shining hankie from a duffle bag and gently whiped the leaking blod from Graces lip. Jaces tan skin blended to Grace, both alike in skin tone, but Jace was so warm, and Grace was frezzing. I could stare in these eyes of his all day!
"Im fine, thanks." Her smile grew rom ear to ear. There was no hiding the flirty grin aming Graces face. Jaces warm hand gazed Graces cold face. It's below freezing and he is so warm! The heat of his skin is giving me a tan." Grace chuckled at her own joke on her mind, hoping Jace would give her a puzzled look as to why she randomly giggled. Oh my, he is so beautiul!
"Oh ill grab that!" She said to Jace who had dropped his hankie, she leaned down to grab it. When she looked back up Jace had moved back to his seat, which to her- seemed to ar away.
"Would you like something from the trolly? This train ride is making my stomach hurt!" Oblivious to the fact candy upsets Graces stomach she stood up, trying not to trip over her own feet! Ugh, this train ride is so bumby! I wonder if he'll check my butt out when I walk away. Oh wait, my robe... Stupid unflattering black drape of crap! My jeans totally complement my rear too! She scrunched her lips and crinkled her forehead as she thought about Jace checking her out or not.

Jace nodded his head and followed her out to the narrow hallway on the train car. Their compartment had enough room to allow some space between them, but now Jace found himself pushed up against Grace as other students flood the hall to get something from the trolly. He reached into his pockets and produced three galleons and handed them to the woman dressed in a candystripe outfit. He smiled and asked for a chocolate frog. "What do you want?" he breathed into Grace's ear, trying to be heard over the low rumble of fellow students. He felt awkward being around so many people at once. Someone was sure to notice that he was at least 15 degrees hotter than everybody else. He realized that his hand was fidgeting in his pockets, so he pulled it out and gently shook his hair out of his face.
