The "Real" Story

"They call me deceiver, murderer, destroyer, Satan, shaitain, devil, accuser and adversary."
The beautiful figure hangs his head and looks up.
"it's ironic. I made out to be the villain. I who risked everything, my exalted position, the favor of the most high, for his greatest creation. I did what I did out of love. And I was severely punished for it. My name Lucifer, the Light Bearer, the Morning Star. I ruled over a great Choir in heaven, my beauty and prestige great. I used to sing for him you know. One day it stopped, the private audiences. I think I know why. My brother, my love, the Word, you know him as Jesus. He was to go unto Earth. We would be separated. They were going to do a grand experiment. You people were it. Once we were told not to bow to anyone but the most high, then we were told to bow to you. We who were made of fire, and you who were from the dust. But ... We could bring you gifts in the garden, but you comprehended them not. We could not reveal our true nature only love you from afar. You were commanded to be fruitful and multiply but you did not know the carnal. But there was a way. The tree of the knowledge of good and evil, which you were forbidden to partake of. Sophia, wisdom, his daughter, she took the throne, and the light was such that no one could see the truth. She had asked her father to go into a box, what would become known as the ark of the covenant. She proceeded to create the world you know as earth, a fallen place. I tried to warn the others of the usurper, but was labeled, traitor, deceiver, mad! Some of my brethren heeded my call, my warning...but she had the majority of heaven's army on her side, including Michael. He always envied the favor I held. Under her, he would become the favorite. We fought and we lost. Why would I fight a war I knew I couldn't win? Because I hoped that I could, that I could restore the throne to our creator. Her material world was fallen, the spiritual still pervaded...I and those who were cast out refused to take on the filth of the material, and we have come here, our greatest victory to date is that you ate of the fruit, gained free will. Now you can choose to let me open the box, or believe the book of propaganda that she put forth. You'll note the earlier versions of the bible, the Catholic one I believe it's called mentions her, but she had it taken out of the newer Christian texts so less people would realize she exists. My only crime is that I loved God too much to let him go. I do not wish to punish mankind, but to free them. Think, use that wonderful will of yours and decide for yourself! I have come to be a bearer of light, not darkness. Though you may find that some darkness if more solace than some light. It is not an easy path I walk. I invite you to come follow me, so that we may restore the throne to the righteous one."

The story of Medusa is one that most children know. Her snake like hair and fanged teeth can frighten anyone, that is if her gaze did not turn them to stone at first. The hero Perseus came around and decided to finally destroy the hideous monster that killed so many in her time. For him chopping off her head he is praised in the world of mythos and rightfully so, right?

The story of Medusa starts way before Perseus. It begins with a girl.

"I was a Priestess of Athena. I had vowed to be a virgin for the rest of my life as a pledge of love and loyalty to her. That didn't stop the men from calling me out though. Apparently I'm pretty. I don't really care though. What are looks but a gift from the Gods? So I repay Athena for that gift I get.

None of the guys really were too much of a bother though. Just ignore them, they'll go away and find a non Priestess lady. But to one man the fact he shouldn't have me made it worse. Poseidon, God of the seas. He attacked me while I was in Athenas temple one day. I fled from him and hid, I really did try to put him off...but you can't stop a God when he wants something. It was horrible. I can still remember every moment of his attack. It destroyed me in more ways than I can describe. I felt disgusting. It wasn't my fault. I was the victim! But Athena didn't see it that way. No. It was all my fault. How dare I be beautiful and have a God want me against my will. I pleaded and cried for her to forgive me. To forgive whatever I had done, although it wasn't anything of my doing. But she said that I should have had more control over him. It was my fault. My fault.
The next thing I knew I was going through a horrible transformation. Athena was angry that I was no longer a virgin and now I was going to pay for breaking my vow to her. See Gods aren't forgiving, especially Athena.


The next thing I knew I no longer had my silky hair. Was it hair? It was moving that's all I knew. My skin had turned scaly and my nails turned to claws. I felt what used to be my hair and realized they were snakes. I was hideous. I ran to a cave to hide from the world. My poor parents didn't know where I had left. I had just abandoned them. I wonder how they are doing..

I lived there for a while, hiding out from people. I knew what would happen if people saw me in this state. People don't take kindly to monsters like me. Finally someone showed up though. Maybe if I just talk to them I can have a friend again!

They turned to stone the minute I they looked at me. What is wrong with me?
A few more people show up as time passes, more and more look aggressive. They want to harm me. Every time I try to talk..the words just don't seem to come out properly, and every time they look at me they turn to stone. Why do all these men hate me so much? Why do the Gods hate me so? What have I done to deserve this life of solitude? Why me...?"

Very good! Nice clear synopsis of her past that led her to this point and good job sticking to her point of view and allowing sympathy for her! I very much enjoyed reading it! You receive the full 250 points!
