Part IV: Essay Question - The Ethics of the Forgetfulness Potion
For this portion of the class you will need to write an essay on your position over the ethics of the forgetfulness potion. When is it okay to use? When is it unacceptable to use? Should there be laws regulating the use of a potion with such power over the mind? Professor Snape had his first years brew this potion; do you think this was too advanced (maturity-wise not level of difficulty for brewing) to put in the hands of eleven year olds if they were to leave the classroom with some? Be sure to consider these questions and any other ethical concerns you feel might be worth mentioning. You can take any position on it as long as you back it up with sufficent evidence. The essay must be at least 400 words. Any essay with less than that will have points taken off.
