This very handy object can be also called mobile phone or hand phone. Between us, is one of Muggles greatest inventions. This device lets you make and receive phone calls while you are on the move and to/from nearly anywhere in the world! However, these ingenious machines can do much more, from text messaging, MMS, emails, access the Internet and so on.

Text Messaging

When cellphone evolved from their primitive and limited state they began to have a lot more functions and none of them became more used than text messaging, it is even more used than call making which was the original purpose of the cell phone. You just write what you want real quick and send the message to who you want to which will read it when they can. The delivery is nearly instant. May it’s time we rethink our Owl postage service.

SIM Card/Operators

One curious aspect of the cell phones is that they need a card from one of the many available operators out there. It’s through it you’re allowed to make calls and send messages that will be registered and then charged by your operator. Before cell phones evolved you could only save contacts and messages in the SIM card which made it invaluable. It was so important that sometimes people who got assaulted said to the aggressor they could leave the phone but asked if they could have the SIM card.

Driving

One of the downsides of cell phones was that everyone got nearly so addicted to them they couldn’t stop even when they are driving, which has to an infinite amount of accidents and many awareness campaigns.

Health effects

There are many studies going on trying to determine if the excessive use of cell phones is harmful to the human being or not. General opinion is that all the waves can’t be good for your brain but only time now can tell if it’s true or not. What is more important can Muggles find a way to make cellphone harmless?

Either way, if you haven’t ever tried one I urge you to do it. Ask your Muggle or Half-blood friends to use theirs (if they say they don’t have one I assure you they are lying).
