XX Days Before Festivities Extravangaza Drabble Challenge

Here's one of the many impossible challenges we're having. Only the hardcore ones can withstand this challenge, which is very simple, you must write a certain number of drabbles for each Festivities, one representing each day/year/month leading to that Festivity and one final drabble representing the Festivity itself.

That said you must write:

7 drabbles for He's 7th Bday (one for each year)
14 drabbles for Valentine's Day (one for each day)
4 drabbles for St. Patricks (one representing each month leading to it and the actual day)
31 drabbles for Easter (since this year it landed on the 31st of March)
4 drabbles for April Fools' Day (one representing each month leading to it and the actual day)

Total possible: 60 drabbles.

Now, I don't you to despair and give up already. So you do NOT need to do all drabbles to be able participate or even all sets of drabbles you'll get points for how much you do though. Here's how the points breakdown will be:

Top 4 drabbles of each day:
1st Place - 300 HP
2nd Place - 275
3rd Place - 250
4th Place - 225

All others - 175

Top 4 sets of each festivity:
1st Place - 750 HP
2nd Place - 600
3rd Place - 500
4th Place - 450

All others - 350

However, if you somehow managed to do them ALL you will get an extra 3500 points. Worth trying?

HE Birthday Drabbles

Year One
Bobbina hopped down the stairs in the castle, trying to pretend that today was like any other day. But she knew that it wasn't and everyone else knew it too. She could tell from the way that they were acting that they'd known what day it was. Today was her birthday! The very first one that she'd ever had, and though she tried to act like she'd been oblivious, when she walked into the General House Common room and was covered in purple confetti, she'd been expecting it. After all, it wasn't every day a giant purple hippo turned one.

Year Two
Even though Bobbina the hippo wouldn't admit it, she was nervous when she woke up on the day of her second birthday. What if no one threw her a party this year? What if there wasn't any purple cake? What if no one even remembered? These were real concerns that plagued her. After all, a second birthday wasn't usually seen as that important. When she stepped out of bed though, she realized there was a card on the table to her from Elfie and thought it was silly to have ever doubted that her humans would take care of her.

Year Three
On her third birthday, Bobbina decided that she needed something different from the other parties that had been thrown for her. After all, she was the mascot of a very impressive website! So, somehow, she'd managed to talk the humans into an ice skating disco party. As it turned out, she wasn't good at ice skating or disco partying. However, on the plus side, no one would ever forget that party as long as they lived. How did one even attempt to forgot a hippo on ice skates trying to disco? Or a hippo on ice skates crushing almost everyone?

Year Four
After the disaster of the ice skating disco party the year before, Bobbina had a tough time trying to sell the humans on anything other than cake and ice cream for her fourth birthday. Luckily, she got some of the more daring (read: crazy) humans on her side and they all decided that turning four was the perfect time for a mini-golf party. There'd been more yelling of 'fore!' than most mini-golf games, but at least no one got crushed by an ice skating hippo. Well... almost no one, but that Rai was a quick healer. He'd be fine.

Year Five
By the fifth birthday, Bobbina could feel people losing interest in her birthday parties and that upset her. She was five now! A whole human hand! This was clearly a very big deal. They should have been more excited for her. She was excited when they got excited over their silly birthdays. They could at least return the favor. In an attempt to get the humans in a festive mood, she took purple cake and started chucking it at them. Everyone loved birthday cake! Except, apparently, when it was being thrown at them by a giant hippo. Humans were impossible.

Year Six
Rai had 'talked to her' about what she could do for her sixth birthday. Bobbina was furious. He thought he could just limit her choices like that? She was a magical purple hippo! She should have been able to do whatever she wanted for her birthday! Especially now that she was turning six. To get back at him, she picked off his 'approved list' and then threw the coolest party that HE had ever seen and she didn't invite Rai. Everyone had extra cake and she almost got kicked out forever the next day. It still was completely worth it.

Year Seven
Given that seven was a magical number, Bobbina knew this birthday was going to be the best. So much so that she'd had trouble sleeping the night before, knowing that the humans had planned a party for her. When morning finally came, she bounded down the stairs and into the Great Hall. And what did she find waiting for her? Seven purple cakes with probably close to seventy balloons and seven types of ice cream and everyone decked out in purple. Plus, there was a birthday throne and a pile of gifts bigger than herself! Seven was gonna be great.

Valentine's Day Drabbles

Day One
When Mandy Steele woke up on the first of February, she was surprised that the house quiet. As a mother of five children between the ages of eleven and five, it was a rare time that the house was still. Curious, she made her way to the kitchen and found a note from Aidan, her husband, titled 'Day One' and telling her to relax and enjoy her morning off because he'd taken care of getting the kids to school. Although she was curious about the title, she took the advice and had one of the most peaceful mornings in years.

Day Two
Mandy read her husband's handwriting on the plain notebook paper that was held down by a dog plushie. Not just any dog plushie, but an exact replica of the dog plushie that he'd given her many years ago on their first Valentine's Day. Seeing it made her tear up, given that Kelsey and Isabella had accidentally torn apart the first one as toddlers. She'd tried to pretend it hadn't mattered, but she'd been sad and she was touched Aidan found the replacement. Smiling, she hugged the plushie close and remembered what it'd felt like to be fourteen and in love.

Day Three
On February 3rd, Mandy didn't find a note until the afternoon, with which was a bouquet of her favorite flowers. Picking up the daises off the table, she noticed that in the very center there was a pink daisy amidst the white ones. A wide smile crossing her face as she remembered the proposal that had taken place years ago using a bouquet of white daises with a ring attached to the single pink one among the bunch. Looking down at that very ring, she smiled and shook her head, wondering how she'd ever gotten so lucky with her husband.

Day Four
The fourth note came to her at work, somehow ending up on her desk right after lunch. Everyone denied having any idea of how it had gotten there, but she was pretty sure Roxie had probably been in on it. When she opened it, inside was a hand written poem from Aidan. Although poetry wasn't his strong point, he admitted as such in the note, it was still beautiful and touching and she knew that as soon as she got home she'd be kissing him. Reading it once more, she knew that the rest of the day would be amazing.

Day Five
Mandy was in the process of finishing up the dinner dishes when she found the note on the fifth day, sitting atop a small desert box from a nearby bakery. Opening it up, she found a little joke about how she was sweet like the dessert and a note that she need not worry about ruining her diet or anything because she was still as beautiful as the first day that he'd seen her. Giggling and feeling years younger, she flipped the box open to find a slice of her favorite apple pie with a generous helping of whipped cream.

Day Six
Mandy walked into the bathroom at her husband's suggestion shortly after dinner finished, finding a bubble bath drawn and waiting for her. A note placed on the counter, explaining that she didn't take enough time for herself and that she deserved more of it for all that she did in their every day lives, as well as the information that he'd make sure the kids got in bed. It wasn't much, but the small gesture still meant so much to her and while she soaked in the tub, she wondered what other crazy surprises her husband had up his sleeve.

Day Seven
In an effort to keep things unexpected it was in her jewelery box that she found the next note. At least, she guessed it was a way trying to keep things interesting and she had to admit that it was working. The placement made sense because he had included a new pair of earrings that she'd seen at the mall last time they'd gone, but had been too expensive and beautiful to consider buying. This note told her that he wished he could get her everything she always wanted. Which was just silly because he already had, many years ago.

HE"s Birthday

Year one:
It was the first birthday for Bobbina. She was still a young little hippo learning about the environment around her and trying out new things. One of those new things was cake, before her first birthday Bobbina had never tasted cake before. She was excited for many had described it’s deliciousness to her. After all the singing was over and the cake was finally cut a glorious piece of the sugary food was brought before her. Taking her very first bite Bobbina knew this was one experience she would not soon forget. Once her plate was cleared Bobbina was ready for another Birthday.

Year Two:
Bobbina woke with a start nearly falling flat on her face as she climbed out of bed. The tiny little hippo had grown a few feet since her first birthday but she was still a little purple thing. “My hat! I need my hat!” she exclaimed as she hunted for the traditional triangular hats that’s were usually worn during one’s birthday. On her hate she had pictures of little hippos floating away on some balloons. Bobbina rushed down the stairs and was ecstatic to see what awaited her; all of her family friends came to celebrate her birthday. “Time for cake!” she chimed to them all.

Year Three:
Another year had passed and Bobbina was getting older. Her sugary addiction to cake was starting to fade. Now she was looking forward to what presents she was brought this year for another year of aging. Bobbina rushed down her stairs like she usually did on her birthday to those gathered downstairs. After the usual cake and food it was time for opening presents. Bobbina ripped open each gift like a savage animal, sending a shower of thanks after each package was opened. She had received her Hogwarts schooling attire something she had been wishing for a while. She was ready for Hogwarts.

Year Four:
Unlike people, hippos age differently than us. By the time it was Bobbina’s fourth birthday it was finally time for her to attend Hogwarts. It was something she was looking forward to since, well, the day she was born. By the time her fourth birthday had come around Bobbina had been attending Hogwarts for a few months and she loved every moment of it. This time her birthday was celebrated within the castle walls surrounded by her friends and not so many of her family but there would be plenty of time for future birthday parties with them later.

Year Five:
Year five, and Bobbina’s second year at Hogwarts, a lot had happened since she first arrived in the castle. It was now her fifth birthday and once again it was celebrated within the castle. This time however one of her friends had become a little Hermione Granger when it came to magic and was able to put together a great birthday party for Bobbina. There were fairies flying around, mini quidditch game, streamers falling endlessly from above and endless amounts of cake for all to enjoy. Not to mention butterbeer snuck in from Hogsmead. It was one of Bobbina’s favorite parties.

Year Six:
As much as we all wish for every birthday to be our very own special day some of them don’t go as we wish. For Bobbina’s sixth birthday tragedy befell our beloved purple hippo. While trying to hurry to class, Bobbina fell down the moving staircase and broke her leg, all on her birthday. She had to be rushed to the hospital wing but that didn’t stop her from celebrating her birthday. Her closest friends stopped by with some of her favorite cake, get well cards and even birthday cards. Each of the little cards sang a wizarding song brightening Bobbina’s day.

Year Seven:
Bobbina’s seventh birthday, her most recent birthday party was one of her favorite. It has been known that seven is a lucky number and Bobbina used her lucky birthday to try out for her house’s qudditch team. She flew up on her broom and after pulling off some maneuvers and showing off her stuff she was awarded a position on the team and would forever be known as the first purple hippo in Hogwarts to ever make a qudditch team. Her position was seeker just like Harry Potter and knew this was a major role for the game, they were usually the one who made the win for the team.

Valentine’s Day
Day One:
It was the first day of February, and that meant that Valentine’s Day was just around the corner. Many could look around and see girls and boys alike scrambling to find the perfect give for their significant other. Some had already planned out the perfect gift months ago while others weren’t worried about the fast approaching day. They still had 13 more days until Valentine’s Day anyways, why hurry? There was bound to be some gift online that would arrive to their house in 5-10 business days so this one guy named Jeffery thought to himself.

Day Two:
“Hey man, what ya get your gal?” asked Jeffery’s friend Thomas.
“Nothing yet.” He replied and noticed the shocked look on his face. “I’ll get her something don’t worry.”
“I dunno about that. Things are selling quickly for the holiday. I’d find something quick so you’re not left getting her something lame.” Jeffery chuckled at Thomas’s reply. So long as he stayed away from the traditional flowers and candy he should not have to worry about the item being sold out. After all he still had about two weeks to get her a gift. He had plenty of time left.

Day Three:
Jeffery was looking online trying to get a good gift ideal. He had no idea what to get his girlfriend Natasha. They had been dating for five years and in those five years Jeffery still had problems finding her the perfect gift. It was one of the main reasons why he usually waited so long to go gift shopping for her, Jeffery was always worried that the gift he got her she wouldn’t like. However no matter what gift he gave her she always loved it. Jeffery wanted to get her a really special gift for this year though. He just wasn’t sure yet what that gift would be.

Day Four:
There was about a week and a half left until Valentine’s Day. Jeffery was starting to get a little worried about what to get Natasha. He had so many ideas but hadn’t decided on one yet. Maybe a few days break from gift finding is what he needed. Jeffery was certain he could come back to it later and pick out the perfect gift in no time, that’s usually how the gift giving process went. Jeffery closed his laptop, as thoughts were racing through his mind, and he called up his friends to have a nice game of baseball to put his mind at ease.

Day Five:
“Hey, what did you get your girlfriend this year?” Jeffery asked his friend Chad.

“Oh I just got her bracelet. ‘Says her name. I think that’s good enough.” Chad said as he chucked his clothes into his locker. The two boys got together for their workout today and Jeffery was trying to get gift ideas from his friends. However everything he heard from them were gifts he got Natasha in the past years. He didn’t want to get her another bracelet. It had to be something much more special than that. Jeffery was determined to find that special gift.

Day Six:
The special day was quickly approaching. Almost the first week in February had passed and Jeffery had no idea what to get his girlfriend. That night Natasha had brought up Valentine’s Day, she was mostly trying to figure out what the two were going to be doing that night when she brought up the gift.

“I found the best gift for you!” Natasha exclaimed. “I know you’ll love it. You’ve wanted it for a long time now. But I’m certain yours will outdo my gift.” she chuckled. Nastasha always loved his gifts and Jeffery didn’t think they outdid hers.
