Workshop dance 2: Kitkat: linedancing (ravenclaw)

Welcome to my workshop. Firstly, I would like you to understand what line dancing actually is.

Quote :

A type of non-partner dancing, primarily associated with the Country & Western genre, where a group of people will dance through a pre-choreographed sequence of movements in unison. The choreography is generally simple, as it is intended for mass-consumption.

When you first begin to learn to line dance, please dont get fraustrated if you can not do the dance straight away! It takes everybody time to get used to the moves and the beat.

To aid you with the beat, follow the link below to find an online beats per minute timer. This will aid you in every single line dance there is!

Now if you are ready, I will begin!

Our first lesson will look at a simple step dance to the music of 'Colours of the wind' by Vanessa Williams.

This is a slightly differnt type of song, one which you might not have associated with line dancing, though I am bringing line dancing into the modern age. It is not all about cowboys anymore! :D

Count: 62 beat count!

A 64 beat simply means that you have movement, or choreography, for 64 beats, and then it will start again! If you also notice, each set of beats within the 62 beat dance, are in sets of 8. Use your beat counter provided above to aid you!

In many line dances, they are performed as seen in the videos above, as a whole group, yet with a pairs line dance, more concentration is needed as you and your partner need to bounce off one another.
