The curse of DADA

Dumbledore once speculated that perhaps voldemort cursed the DADA possition as he wasnt given it. What do you all think about this subject?

That made me think that Dumbledore knew something was going to go on during Harry's 6th year because he finally hired Snape.

well he himself was a DADA teacher, and after voldemort left, he was still i suppose, and didnt die... just after a year

I think maybe that the position being cursed has some relavance since mostly everyone who has taught it were cursed themselves...in some way.

Voldemort cursed the position because he wanted it and din't get it. Everyone after the curse did not stay in the job for more than one school year.

I think Snape got the job because Dumbledore knew it was going to be his last year at Hogwarts. He knew Snape was going to have to go to the Dark Lord eventually. I think they planned Dumbledore's death and Dumbledore wanted Snape to have what he always wanted before he had to go. Maybe this is why Snape didn't get the DADA job everyother year. Because Dumbledore probably figured the curse would come to Snape and Snape would have left years ago.

I think that it was so SLughorn would do potions and then Snape would fill his dream for a year then go back, becasue the curse is one DADA not on teaching

Pretty much what Nancy said really but I think once voldemort is defeated that the curse will then lift just like the spell did from Harry when dumbledore died.
