The 10th Kingdom

Ooh, no topic about this yet. Well, The 10th Kingdom was a mini-series on the TV back in 2000, and I love it!

It's a sort of modern day fairytale, beginning in New York and then moving into the Nine Kingdoms, a magical land where fairy tales are reality. There were the five women of the kingdoms, Cinderella, Snow White, Gretel, Red Riding Hood and Rapunzel, but the story isn't about them - they were 200 years ago.

This story follows Tony, Virginia, Wolf and Prince Wendell as they try to save the Kingdoms from the evil Queen. Sounds like a pretty basic baddies vs. goodies story, but it's more than that. It's funny, romantic, magical...ahhh I love it.

We have it on DVD and I watch it at least once a year - all 417 minutes of it.

Any other 10th Kingdom fans?

I love the 10th Kingdom! If you get a chance there is a book- I think based on the mini-series not the other way around- that gives a little more depth to the story. But it's terrific, one of my all time favorite fairytales, especially love Wolf. I love Kimberly Williams who starred in it (although she goes by Kimberly Williams Paisley now I think) and John Laraqette. I like it because it's more of a grown up fairytale, enjoyable on several levels. But definately read the book!

i loved that so much one of the best programmes that was made wish they could show it again.

I've read the book quite a few times. It's great, although there are parts that are different from the TV series that I can't understand why they were changed.

If you like this series and long for a sequel, there's a really, really, really, really good fanfiction which picks up where the story left off.

I thought that fan fiction was great Amy! *yawns* kept me up until 3 in the morning to read it but still great! lol I thought this show was supposed to be a mini series or something though? They just didn't show the other parts...does anybody know?

Read the fanfiction I linked to above, Elana! It's very well written, and could seriously be the sequel. In fact, I think that when it was first written, there was a petition sent to the creators of The 10th Kingdom asking for that fic to be turned into the sequel lol.

This is one of my favorites. I used to have the DVD, but we were strapped for cash once and had to do something, so we sold quite a few of our movies. It was rather sad. I love Wolf!

Hum I got bored of it 3/4 of the way through...sorry Jenn! XD

Dunno, seemed to me like it just couldn't make up its mind whether to be adult or childlike and stuff like that, stuck in between, annoys me. ^^

I like things that can make up their darn minds.

I like child stuff. I like teen stuff. I like adult stuff. It's when they start crossing boundaries and getting mixed up and confusing even themselves that I say "That's it! I quit."

You should have stuck it out! The ending is great!

See, but I'm not even remotely curious how it ends. I just didn't get attached to the characters at all, I was too busy figuring out whether they were kidding themselves or not.

And it's not like I have loads of extra time where I'll go and watch TV that I don't like just cuz I haven't anything better to do.

I just watched this movie again last night. *sigh* wolf.....
