Well as I opened the forum I thought that I should do an entry, and what better subject than my miracle baby! Yes, this could bore some of you, but I know a few of you are interested, so instead of updating the lovely post Caroru set up, I will update this one with the progress.

Firstly, I'll backtrack

Friday 9th March

What an amazing day!
We had been trying for a baby for nearly three years and had been given only a 1% chance of ever having children naturally. We were booked in for specialist help and had our first appointment that morning, and I, for some reason, decided to take a test. Imagine my surprise when two blue lines appeared. We didnt believe it, though after 6 tests all showing the same thing we booked a doctors appointment and celebrated (with orange juice of course!)

Wednesday 14th March

Had the doctors appointment and the doctor said she thought we were already 11 weeks gone!

So I went to the receptionist to get a midwife appointment and when I told her that I was around 11 weeks, her face was a picture (I guess because most people find out when they are about 5/6 weeks) so it was all go!

I was sent for a blood test straight away - so much blood Sad My whole arm went white! (I am terrified of needles by the way lol)

Then five minutes later my midwife calls and arranges an appointment for that afternoon - in the next hour!

We rushed back and discussed everything, including the fact Im terrified of hospitals since my nan was treated extremely badly in one resulting in her death. I discussed that I wouldd prefer a home birth, but she said although it was up to me, perhaps look at a midwife unit which would mean no doctors, only midwifes and as long as everything is ok, I would be home an hour after the birth, plus Mick can stay with me the whole time - which I think we are seriously considering

A few days later our 20 week scan came through for two days after my birthday in May, though we are still waiting for the dating scan to come through which I cant wait for!

That must have been horrible, that is great name Elfie.

Yep = we think its practically 100% certain that she is going to be Aimee, though we are still working on middle names.

Its weird to think that Im 6 months pregnant with only 3 months to go. After being at the birth of little Alex (my sisters baby) it has made me slightly more nervous about the labour and birth. I hope Im not going to be a screamer : D

I think my stomach has grown a bit more, I'll post a pic when I look even half way decent lol

Some people believe that screaming is good therapy. Besides, otherwise you'll have one of those silent and creepy Scientology births...

Hmm yes, that is a bit creepy...maybe somewhere in the middle lol

I know for certain I wont be taking up a few peoples suggestions and going into labour on HE webcam or anything though lol

I think that's probably a good decision! Maybe for your next baby's birth! At the hospital here in town....they video the birth...from "nice" angles...nothing too private...and then they edit the video to a sweet song...and you have a cute little music video of your babies birth...it's kinda cool.

hello id just like to say i had an almost silent birth but it wasnt by choice its just something that happened when i was giving birth to my son i just kind of went inside myself i didnt notice anyone else in the room no one was there but me and i didnt utter a sound except to ask for ice when i was thirsty it wasnt creepy but it wasnt one of those forced silent births it just happend ... although the woman in the room next to mine thought screaming was a great help once my birth was over and i returned to the world of the living so to speak all i could here was the lady in the next room thought i did find out later that because of their religious beleifs her husband was in charge of the birth and had denied her pain releif where as i had an epidural also not by choice but im epileptic and a pain induced seizure during labour could have killed me and the baby so every now and then they epidural was turned on if they thought i was going to have a fit
anyway i gotta go its way past my bedtime and i gotta be up early

3 months left only... Gosh it goes so fast. *remembers when she came back from school to find an overly hyper Sharon and was all squeeeee*

They do say that a lot of people go inside themselves so to speak, so maybe I'll be like you, although did it help, do you think, with the epidural? I choosing not to have an epidural (I know you didnt have a choice which must have made you feel slightly out of control??) but I am terrified of needles, so Im hoping to use gas and air and thats it.

Ok, time for another update :)

Im now 6 1/4 months pregnant (or 28+2weeks) and I have my routine doctors appointment yesterday. I haven't been feeling Aimee kick as much or as strong recently and so I mentioned it, and the doctor listened to the heartbeat and felt my stomach and decided to send me straight to the hospital.

When we got the the hospital at 5.15 (which by this time I was starting to panic a bit) I met a midwife and student midwife who took me to a bed and attached me to a more advanced heart monitor for the baby which measured the baby's heartbeat as well as if I was having any early tightenings (ie: braxtons or contractions) which is good to know Im not (even though I knew that anyway as I haven't felt any. The heart beat was really strong as well, and she actually really started to kick for the 20 minutes I was on the monitor (typical lol)

They also checked my stomach and said I was of good size, but they want to send me for another scan which is tomorrow (Friday) morning. Im a little worried, but fingers crossed everything is alright.

They also messed up my last blood test so I have to have another one :(

We've also spoken about middle names again, and at the moment it stands at Aimee Rachiel Barbara Rose

If she turns out to be a boy, we still dont have a name (and I really hope she doesnt as a boy wouldn't look good in the little pink dresses weve brought here lol), although Braeden is a name thats crept in, but Im not sure.

We had the scan and everything is ok

Little Aimee is growing well and its been doubly confirmed that she is a girl

So its rested my mind a bit and shes started to get stonger kicking now which Im loving.

I experienced my first braxon hick today (practice contractions) where my whole stomach went rock hard - it was sooo weird! They dont hurt at the moment though apparently they will soon, but its good im getting them as apparently it starts preparing the body for labour *is scared*

With only 11 weeks to go, Im starting to get quite scared of the labour and birth. Finger crossed it wont be a long labour lol

We went for our check up at the hospital and all is well except that Aimee is laying the wrong way, and the way she is laying would cause a longer and harder labour and birth but we still have 9 weeks to go so hopefully she will change position in time. I have been told to do some excersises like leaning forward instead of back when watching tv to try to help her move, although I am still in pain with my back and hips (possibly due to her pressing against my spine apparently) so it is difficult not to rest back in a seat.

I also have an updated photo of the bump. Ignore my dress - its not my style at all and looks terrible on me but its my maternity dress and the only thing that fits me in hot weather :D

We have our midwife appointment on Tuesday and Im going to discuss my fears with her as Im starting to get quite scared. I wish I was having a home birth but the house still isnt finished

The bump is sooo cute! ^.^ *feels like putting her ear to it* :D

But I really hope your backpains will be better and she'll change her position. And by the way - I haven't yet congratulated you on choosing her name - Aimee is a beautiful name! :D And it's signification is too! ^.^ I'm sure she will be, just as her name says, a loved little baby!

I had my midwife appointment today and she guesses, by measuring etc, that she is already around 4 pounds 8 ounces! If she carries on up the graph at the same speed, she will be over 9 pound! : O

wow that's a big baby, my brother was 9 pounds.

Congratulations on the baby! I was 9 lbs 9 ounces, but I know a few people who were over 12, so a little over 9 just makes her really cute and rolly :runman:

I hope that Sharon doesnt mind me adding this here, but I dont think she will be as big as 9 pound. Our last check showed that she has slowed down growing - the doctor isnt too worried though I know Sharon is as am I but we are having another checkup on Tuesday so hopefully she has grown a bit more. Anyway, I am sure Sharon will fill you in more here soon. Her dad has just been taken into hospital again, so her mind is all over the place at the moment, especially with only 5 weeks to go

I rang the hospital this morning to see how my dad was before we go to see him later and he is doing ok though is still very weak and loosing blood which is scary. He has more tests later but it is really worrying me as Im so scared Im going to lose him He has been in and out of hospital over and over in the last 4/5 months and its all getting too much for him. I just hope that he continues to be a fighter like he has all his life.

I had my physio session today and have been told I have Symphysis Pubis Dysfunction (SPD) which is to do with my pelvic bones not stretching right and could break in labour apparently if midwifes arnt careful, though this doesnt happen with many women, its mainly a huge pain, but at least I know what it is now. I have been given a support belt to help hold up my bump and excersises to do so hopefully they will help.

I have my midwife check up tomorrow morning to check that Aimee is still growing properly after her dip in growth, so fingers crossed.

The nursery is nearly done now though the rest of the house still has a while to go and with only 5 weeks until she is due, its getting worrying lol.

Little Aimee is spoilt with lovely clothes before shes even born. At the moment we have a little wardrobe for her and now everything fits in. We are hoping to get matching chest of drawers within the next couple of weeks and then I can really do the last finishing touches to the nursery.

Im not usually one to complain but I feel really low at the moment and close to tears all the time.

We went to see my dad today in the hospital and I wasnt
allowed into the side room where he has been moved as Im pregnant and
they suspect that he may have TB - im really scared. Mick went in to
see him with a mask, gloves and apron on and he sent my dad my love and
i saw dad through the glass and he looked so weak and sad. Im really
scared Im going to lose him as he is really ill.

They wont know for certain whether it is TB for at least a few days to
a week as they need to do more tests but if it is we al have to be
tested too as we have been around dad and so Im not only scared that
Ill lose my dad, but Im scared for little aimee too. Also little alex has been around dad and so im worried for him as he is only 11 weeks old, and also Mick as he has weak lungs. Im just all at a loss at the moment

awwww. I really hope that your dad gets better, and that it isnt that serious. If it is, I hope that you and Mick, and Amiee dont have it :[[[ I am praying for all of you.

I don't really know what to say but *huggles tightly* I have never had to go through anything like this and I can only begin to imagine what your going through I just hope he turns out okay in the end hes in the best care.

Hey Sharon! I was just wondering how the midwife appointment went today. I hope it went well! I can't wait for little Aimee!!! :D My friend(who is 24) is due in two weeks and I keep urging her to have the baby already so I can hug and squeeze it xD I'm so excited for baby season! :D

I thought I would do a quick update for you before I go down to my dads house as you have all been so lovely.

With Aimee:
I had another appointment with the doctor yesterday and she wants me to have weekly checks because of everything going on with my dad. Aimee is nearly engaged, ie: nearly in the correct position for birth, head down etc, which is great. Im just willing her to come soon as Im so exhausted with everything.

We have decided completely on her full name now. it is Aimee Rachiel Barbara Billie (Billie after my dad).

With my dad:
As most of you know, I havent been around much of late as my dad is really ill. The doctors and nurses think that he only has a matter of weeks to live as the cancer has spread throughout his whole body. It is so difficult to see him so ill and I am crying every day. I am the main carer for my dad, which makes me so tired and I feel so ill at the moment but I wouldnt have it any other way as i love him so much and Im really scared. I have to also remember to look after myself for Aimees sake, but it is really hard. So many different emotions are running through my head. Suffice to say, it may be a while before Im back here for good, but I try to come online as much as I can, though averaging only about 2 hours per night for the last couple of weeks leaves me too tired to do much. I just hope that dad will still be here to meet Aimee.

I want to thank everyone for their support. It means so much to me.

I get even more scared each day as Im worried about the pain but hopefully I can handle it - if my sister could (and she did really well) hopefully I can. I hope for a nice 5 hour max labour but I doubt that very much (Sarahs labour was 24 hours and my mums with me was 48 hours )

Im so tired at the moment too with spending time with dad and looking after him as well as not sleeping - its so hard to get comfortable with a huge bump! I'll try to get a recent picc taken of the bump soon (unless she comes tonight!)

Ive now put on over 4 stone! I went from about 7.5 to 11.6! Although I feel better than ever lol. I cant wait to wear my normal clothes again though.

So, just under a week to go, fingers crossed it will be soon. I know that Mick is now hoping for a halloween baby *sticks tongue out at Raist lol* and now even I dont mind - I just cant wait to meet her!

.. to your dad: Elfie, I'm so sorry for you! *huggles* .. I've lost my own grandpa to cancer (discovered way to late) and I remember how I used to hope up to the last minute... it was terrible and it must be even harder for you, with Aimee on her way.. but you'll find the strenght, right?
