I know we have the notice board for updates to the site, but as there are also many other posts there such as sign up threads for exams and such, I was thinking that perhaps a new forum designated only for site updates could be useful? This way people can see new additions easily and not get confused with any new updates and be able to see head on what new forums open as the site grows all the time?

I'm sort of in between with this idea. I think its a good idea but I don't think we should have a new board. I think maybe little howlers in the other boards would be better and a more regular up date in the notice board. But more updates would be good.

The notice board does get quite crowded, but it's main purpose is to be the place where site updates are posted.

Perhaps a better way would be to create a forum in the examinations area just for exam sign-ups and any of the threads pertaining to exams? That would keep the notice board clear for site updates and important announcements.

I agree with amy - Exam sign ups in a new forum would be better as everyone knows the notice board for updates now, and then perhaps the notce board could be organised into sections to make it easier to see updates?
