Rigby peeked through the curtains, glimpsing the audience as they were seated. Seeing the huge crowd gathering, she was grateful to the bright stage lights that would prevent her from seeing most of them. She turned her attention back to the first set. The stage had four sets, the market which it was currently set to, Cinderella's house and Gardens, the Interior of the Prince's castle, and the Exterior of the castle as well.

Rigby place the hat she had in her hands on top of a cart full of colorfull hats. This would be the hat she and Elana fought over as step sisters Gertrude and Griselda. Her stomach was in knots, not for the upcoming performance though. She loved acting, but she and Elana would be performing a duet and the thought of singing in public her worst nightmare come true. She would just have to hope that the audience wasn't equipped with things to throw at her.

Rigby rushed backstage, taking her place near Elana. She gave her fellow Ravenclaw a quick smile before turning her attention to her wardrobe. Her first character, Gertrude, had two outfits. Changing quickly into the first day time outfit, tugging on accesories and fluffing out her hair, she nervously eyed her gown for the ball. The tight, green gown was reminisent of a emerald mermaid. Her dress was meant to reflect her less than good tastes, and it certainly did that. It was not something that Rigby would ever wear in the real world. Glancing down at her pink and green outfit that she was currently wearing she realized that none of Gertrude's costumes were her style. But for the hot on the outside, evil on the inside look, her costumes worked.

She did a last minute check to make sure she had everything she needed for both her roles, as she was also playing King Cuthbert. She patted the trousers she would be wearing as the King and was relieved to find the time-turner that Elana had snuck her last week was still there. On the stand there was also her vial of Polyjuice potion, to help complete her transformation into a male. She had actually bought several of Patrick Dempsey's hair on ebay for the potion. Coupled with a slight aging potion (check! she thought) and she had everything she needed to give the illusion of an handsome, yet mature King.

Done with her checklist, she searched the backstage, trying to count heads to make sure everyone was present and accounted for, but she could already see that lots of people were missing. Rigby could only hope that they would make it before the curtain opened, otherwise her singing wasn't the only think that might provoke a audience uprising...

Aliza stood in her designated dressing area, looking at her reflection critically. She didn't much like the rags that she was having to wear but it was all in good spirit. And considering what she was wearing she didn't look too bad. She smiled quietly to herself and looked around, on the wall was her beautiful dress for the ball scene.

Aliza turned back to the mirror and applied some more make up that made her face look a little dirty. When she was finally ready she headed out to the stage where Elana and Kate stood, behind the curtains. "Hey guys", she whispered. "When are we going on?"

"Ooh! The day has finally come!" Streams grinned at the tall mirror in the dressing room, patting her perfectly coiffed wig. She did so love playing dress-up, but she hated hairspray. A hairdo like that would've required gallons of hairspray, so she was glad that she had the handy excuse of having to transform into Dandini later on. This way, she could simply whip off the wig, shake out her pixie haircut, change clothes, go more subtle on the makeup, and be ready to roll. She had a few other quick tricks up her sleeve, and so did the makeup, hairstyling and costume artists. All Streams had to worry about was the performance.

"Two minutes to showtime!" she announced, walking sedately over to her place on the darkened stage, slightly off-center. In a couple minutes the curtains would open, the stage would be flooded with light, and the fun would begin! So much time and hard work had gone into this, and Streams was happy that they were finally going to perform. She drew her eyebrows together angrily and practiced a wicked sneer.

She half-turned, squinting through the dim lighting; the Stepsisters and Cinderella were already at their places, and that left just the Narrator for now. She stood very still, her back straight and rigid, her eyes cold as she waited for the Narrator's voice to ring out across the room. A nervous grin kept sneaking through her cold facade, quickly replaced by a hoity-toity flip of the head. She could hardly wait.

Kaitlyn was rushing to get her costum on and with her hair still a mess she heard someone call out two minuets. Just in the little time she had she thought over her lines and comed her hair... It was time... She steped out onto the stage and beagan..

With a smile and a pleasant voice she started...

" Once upon a time, in a Kingdom far away, there dwelt a lovely young lady by the name of Cinderella. That's not her real name, but it's the only one she's called. Her mother died at her birth. She and her father were very close, but in his haste to give her the mother she so longed for, he married badly. His new wife came with two daughters, Gertrude and Griselda, and whilst the young ladies were pretty, they were also very spoiled and often cruel to their new stepsister. Within months of her Father's remarriage he too passed away, leaving his daughter to be a servent to his new family. Her stepsisters gave her the name Cinderella as she was so often covered in ashes from tending the fireplace all night long, for she was not allowed to let the the fire ever go out.
Years have passed, and Cinderella and her stepsisters are now young ladies. And this is where our tale picks up:

She smiled again and looked as the curtain sung open and the spot light faided away from her. She than walked off stage and sat down.

Streams took a shallow breath as the curtains lifted. The footlights were so bright, she could barely see the first row of the audience. She loved that part about performing on stage, that once you were there you could really lose yourself in the scene, because you couldn't see the audience anyway.

Raising her chin into the air, she stalked over to a bread stall. Reaching down into the cart, she prodded the freshly-baked breads. "Disgusting!" she said scathingly. "This bread is leftover from yesterday!"

Ignoring the baker's protests, she flung a loaf onto the cobblestones and ground it beneath her sturdy shoe. "Look, it won't even break!" she scoffed, picking up the badly mangled, muddy bread and flinging it back into the stall. "You thought you could fool me? Nobody gets the better of me!"

She paused before a stall with chickens, suddenly all smiles. The Evil Stepmother's moods were unpredictable, and so people loved and hated her in turns. Nobody knew exactly why she treated some people nicely--usually because they had something she wanted. But it was a well-known fact that behind her lovely violet eyes lay a heart cold as stone. "Yes, we'll have four chickens." She reached into her money bag and pulled out one silver coin and one jelly bean.

"Keep the magic bean!" The Evil Stepmother smirked, then shoved the four squawking chickens into Cinderella's already heavily-laden arms. "Come along now, girls!"

Rigby braced herself and stepped onstage, just a few inches in front of Elana. In her mind she was repeating her line over and over to herself, knowing that if she could just get it out then she would be fine. The first line is always the hardest. Her stomach was a knot of nerves, but she was impressed with Kaitlyn and streams, they had commanded the stage, and now she knew she would have to keep up.

"Come along now, girls." Rigby hears streams voice, dripping with delicious sweet evilness.

"You heard her, move it Cinderella!" she said, making her tone menacing and bratty. She threw an irritated glance in the direction of Aliza.

And just like that Rigby was transformed into the haughty, spoiled, unfortunately named Gertrude, hot on the outside, ugly on the inside stepsister to the long suffering Cinderella.

She reached her mark onstage, pausng in order to let Griselda (oops, Elana!) step in front of her at the hat cart.

The Evil Stepmother sniffed and peered down her nose at her daughter, pursing her lips. Her daughters were the most beautiful in all the kingdom, in her opinion, while Cinderella was uglier than mud. But that hat...she wrinkled her nose, trying to adjust to the odd hat...she preferred clothing a little more 'upper class'. Ugh. "Really, Griselda, you look like a..."

She sniffed airily, picking up a shimmering gray shawl and wrapping it around her shoulders. The smell emanating from the hat only added to her disgust, so that she very nearly didn't even have to put on an act. Her reply, though scripted, was a perfectly natural response. "Rather more like a weed."

The Evil Stepmother frowned and held a fan up to her face, waving it lightly. She was in favor of spoiling her girls, but she would not tolerate such a monstrosity in her home. It was enough she had to deal with that disgusting Cinderella.
