Quest Location: Spain and Portugal

Your quest will take you on a journey through Spain and Portugal, though you won't be heading for the tourist beachs. And is that something behind you?

You should make thirty-one entries spanning the month of your quest. This does not need to be in real-time (i.e. a post a day). You can take however long you need to complete your quest.

Entry one

Polly’s heart pounded as she held the small dragon close to her chest. Her feet smacked against the hard, sandy floor of Spain. Kai wailed and made noises which made her heart thump more. Sweat began to pour from her in the humid sticky heat until she gave up settling down on the ground Kai lay on the floor enjoying the heat. It was okay for him he has a dragon she thought as Polly pulled her water bottle out of her bag and drained the last of it. Sighing in exasperation she whipped her brow with the back of her hand panting wearily in the heat.
Polly was glad for the shade of these deserted streets she couldn’t though using these was taking more than double the time to travel as it would have done if she used the main open streets. But that was impossible with Kai. Her small Kai whom she loved as if it was of her own kind. As if these thoughts had traveled into Kai’s mind he came up to her placing his heavy paw onto her lap. She smiled and stroked him his rough scales a constant comfort to her.
They stayed there together for a long time saying and doing nothing watching as the midday sun began to move across the sky allowing a slight breeze to wave over her. They would wait here until late until the city became silent. It was only the first day of their long journey across Spain and through Portugal.

Entry two

Her stomach rumbled shacking her awake. Rubbing her eyes Polly looked around her at the dank ally way in which she and Kai had been sleeping in. It was late or early she couldn’t tell. Next to her Kai was asleep curled up with his head on her lap. She wanted to let him stay there peacefully sleeping but she knew she couldn’t. Gently she shook him awake only to hear the loud moans of protest from the small animal. She tried to calm Kai down but the small dragon would not listen he whimpered and shook his body long to the extent that she knew he was not just moaning at being awake. Looking behind her she saw something dart past the wall.

Something was following them. Adrenaline pumped through her veins as she looked around for the stranger. Perhaps he had just heard Kai and come to look getting the fright of his life. She told herself slowly coming up onto her feet she began to walk. Kai still whimpering near her feet. He doesn’t understand she told herself but she knew that Kai understood better than herself. Something was following them.

Entry Three

‘Kai…Kai stay close to me.’ My body shook as I saw the shape of a shadow forming in front of me. Reassured by the touch of Kai’s head on my leg. The warmth of his body next to me sent waves of motherly anger through me. All I wanted to do was protect Kai no matter what I had to protect Kai.

‘Stay back!’ I roared Kai’s body flittered next to me. As he equally wanted to protect me from the stranger. Automatically my hand flicked to my wand and I hovered over it nervously. If this was a muggle it was against the law. But when Kai’s and my life were in question I had to do it. And so I pulled the wand swiftly from my pocket holding it loosely in my right hand I bent low pushing the majority of my weight onto my back leg I bent low to the ground ready to spring. As the stranger neared ever closer fear pulsed through every vein in my body. My breathing became heavier. The darkness around me pressed onto my chest tightly making this situation worse. I was afraid.

From the shadowed man I saw a wand appear and my whole body tensed instantly I cried ‘Expelliarmus’ and I felt reassured as the wood came into my hand. His defence was gone I was in the power now. His defence down I grabbed Kai in my arms and ran. His footsteps heard behind me pounding and pounding as they chased me. Right into the open streets of Spain.
