| Welcome to the Latin forum I've been nominated by Cill to teach this with Flisan, but oh well. However much I hate Latin I'll do my best! I'll start with that word in the subject. Salve means greetings, or, more plainly, hello. Vale, on the other hand, means goodbye, or farewell. Even though latin's a dead language, hopefully you can enjoy this! | |

| Lol talk about a short post.... more learning!
Okay, hardish thing. Grammar in Latin is about as hard as trying to find a needle in a haystack... so it's not really that hard!!! There are many verbs in Latin, and each regular one carries the same ending with a different stem, depending on these things:
Whether it's active or passive (if the person is doing the verb or if it is being done to them) The tense (present, perfect past, imperfect past etc. [will explain more later]) The person (I, you, he, she, it, we, you[plural], they)
Firstly, here's the present tense. Regular verbs take these endings:
I ......- ...o You (singular) ....- ...s He/She/It ....-...t We.....-...mus You (plural and polite).....-...tis They....-...nt
I'll use the verb 'exspectare', to read, as an example.
I wait for - exspecto You (sing) wait for - exspectas He/She/It waits for - exspectat We wait for - exspectamus You (polite and pl.) wait for - expectatis They wait for - exspectant
That enough for you to take in?? :D

| there are four conjugations of verbs: o, are e, ere eo, ere and io, ire
(and just in case you were thinking that was easy, wait for all the exceptions!)
each verb has four principle parts: the present stem, the infinative, the perfect stem and the supine.
E.g. mando, mandare, mandavi, mandatus- to entrust, hand over

| I'm going to totally ruin Swifty's tense talk and teach you all some words:
Canisdog coquus cook est is (conjugation of the verb esse but we won't worry about that) filius son hortus garden in in, on; into, onto labōrathe/she/it works (infinitive is laborāre) māter mother pater father sedet he/she/it sits (infinite is sedēre) servus* slave via* street
*As you perceptive little people probably know, these words have vs in them. In Latin, "v"s are pronounced as "w" like the "w" in water.
Have you learned anything? To prove that you have, why don't you translate and conjugate laborāre and sedēre in the present tense forms the loverly Swift taught you? Alright...and...TRANSLATE!
