Level 4 - Personal Evaluation PART 1

From the two animals documented within the
previous test, you now need to select the one in which suits you the
best. This will become you animagus form (you may personalise your form
in your registration)

This test comes in two parts:

Part 1:

Summerise
in no less than 400 words and no more than 600 why you believe you have
gained this specific animagus form and your thoughts upon it.
Post your part

as of term 5, this part is worth 150 housepoints and the second part is also worth 150 housepoints

Well, it’s certainly taken me some time, (trust me, I’ve thought a lot about this), but I have decided that I am most suited as a cat Animagus. Specifically, a short haired dark ginger cat has caught my eye. What surprised me about this is that forever, even before I signed up for these exams, I’ve believed that I’d be drawn to a phoenix as my Animagus form, and that alone. When I completed the other levels, recognizing other animals as possibilities was a mere formality for me. Indeed, up until the last Level, that they were mere formalities. But after researching the phoenix and the cat side-by-side, I discovered that my affection for the phoenix began to wane, and for the cat began to grow. Cats just seemed to cool, and to have abilities that may not be magical, but still so very interesting. I remembered that, on the whole, I don’t like birds that much, so why would I want to become one? Sure, flying would be great as would all of the phoenix’s mythical powers, but that’s about it. To be able to do interesting things, that would be the reason why I’d sacrifice my time to become an Animagus? I’d enjoy the abilities but not the form. On the other hand, I’ve always loved cats; it’s always been quite unfortunate that my mother is allergic to cats so I could never have one of my own. I had to just deal with playing with my friends’ cats, and wishing for my own. I believe that I’ve been drawn to the cat because I see a lot of myself in them. They can be full of energy, or lazy. They can fall asleep all day, and take great pride in their hair-I mean fur. They’re homebodies, but definitely have plenty of fight in them. I love coming home every day, and I certainly can get into it during a fight. The cat and I have so much in common, there was no way I could ignore that anymore, no matter what my original feelings were.

Of course I’m surprised that my choice has so suddenly changed, but it really also does make sense to me. I should choose an animal I love and can relate to, because a cat is what I am. I may have wished to be become a phoenix, but I cannot lie to myself for the sake of being able to sing a pretty song. I have to recognize me for me. And as I’ve stated many times now, what I am is a cat.
