Welcome to the maze, Stephy!

You find yourself at the beginning of a huge maze composed of gigantic green hedges. Using your knowledge of spells, especially Charms, you must find a way out of this maze. Numerous obstacles will be presented to you and they need to be passed in order for you to move on through the maze. Tall leafy walls rise up on both sides of you. The sun shines brightly and there's nothing in sight... at the moment. Step into the maze and begin this adventure. Remember to role-play your actions, show your knowledge of spells and charms, and to be creative. Your first obstacle will follow your first post. There will be ten total challenges for you to complete before you're done.

Stephy stood outside of the entrance to the maze and tried to look to see what she was to face but it was of no use, the maze streached on forever and with the many turns that it had she had no way of being able to see what was crawling around inside of it. Shoving her hand into her robes, she pulled out her wand and held it tightly in her hand as she walked closer to the entrance. Stephy took a deep breath and took her first step into the maze.

Looking behind her she saw the maze close up behind her and she had no way of escaping. She knew that she was safe and that the professor would never let anything life threating happen to her but she was still nervous about what she was going to run into. She held up her wand and looked at the walls of leaves and braches that surrouned her seeing nothing that wanted to hurt her. She took another deep breath and continued deeper into the maze.

After walking for a few minutes she had to her first fork. She could take the right or the left. After thinking it over for a few seconds she decided to go with the right fork. She cautiously made her way down the path loooking around every corner for some scary monster before continueing down it.

A large panel of wood appears in front of Stephy, blocking her from continuing on her path. The panel reaches across the entire path and grows high in the air. The wood, if blasted, almost immediately grows back. An identical panel of wood rises behind Stephy as well, and blocks her from turning back.

Stephy continued on down the path and all of a sudden a wooden panel appeared out of no where surprising Stephy and knocking her off of her feet. Stephy quickly gets back to her feet and dust herself off. She was expectihc some kind of creature to jump out of nowhere and attack her not a wall appear out of nowhere and knock her off of her feet. Stephy walked over to the panel and looking behind her she saw that there was one just like it behind her.

"Oh great" Stephy said "I'm boxed in." Stephy took her wand and pointed it at the woodened panel that was in front of her and said "Reducto" and the spell blasted away a part of the wooden panel. Stephy slowly made her way over to it but just as she was about to crawl through the little hole she made it grew shut. "Cruses" Stephy called out as she aimde several more blasting charms at it but each time they grew back twice as fast than before.

Stephy stood back away from the panel and started to think of a way around it. What to do? she asked herself. after much thought Stephy finally came up with something. She raised her wand and pointed it at the panel once more and said "Reducto" blasting another hole into but she quickly followed that spell with "congelo" (freeze) and the hole stopped getting smaller. Stephy beamed as she walked over towards the hole and started to crawl through it.When she was half way through the hole, it started to once again close up on her. "No" Stephy cried as she tried to pull her leg through but the panel of wood was already closing around it. Stephy started to feel the pressure increase around her leg and she knew she had to quickly get out before it cut off her leg. Stephy pointed her wand at the wood and said the first spell that came to her head. "Incendio"

The spell caused the wood to burn and her leg too. Stephy cried out in pain as she felt the flames encase her leg but she also felt the pressure decrease and she quickly withdrew her leg. She then started to crawl away from the panel and quickly tuirned her attention back to her leg which she saw that most of her pant leg was burned away and there was still a small little flame there. Stephy pointed her wand at her leg and said "Aqaumenti" and the flame was quickly put out. Looking at her leg, Stephy saw that it was a little red and blistered but other than that she was fine.Stephy jumped to her feet and felt some pain shoot up her leg but it was tolerable and she knew that once she got out of this maze she would have it looked at at the hospital wing

As Stephy walks through a section of the maze where the hedges are even higher, darker, she starts to hear muffled screeches coming from above. Suddenly, a bat swoops down, followed by another and another. The bats swarm Stephy, effectively becoming a nuisance along with blocking her way.

As the place started to get darker and darker, Stephy started to notice that she wasn't able to see too well in the dark but she wanted to see how far she could go til she started stumbling over everything. Than she started to hear shreeks from something and Stephy held up her wand muttering "Lumos" and a sight scared her, causing her to drop her wand.

Flying all around her were bats and they were everywhere trying to make thier way through the hedges. Stephy saw them for a brief second til she dropped her wand from surprised and it went out. She had to find her wand in order to deal with the bays. She didnt want them to cling to her hair or anything just as horrible. Stephy fell to her hands and knees trying her hardest to find the wand. After searching for a few frabtic moments she finally came across it and she srighten up once again preforming the light spell.

The light filled the plce letting her once again being able to see the bats flying around but this time she didnt drop her wand. instead she kept a firm grip on it as she looked around at her surroundings. By the look of things the bats weren't bothering her too much and unless tehy didnt attack she didnt need to worry but them. Just as she was thinking this one of the dove down and latched itself into her hair.

"No" Stephy moaned as she hled her wand at her head and said "secui" (part) and the bat's grip on her hair loosened and it fell away. She than reach over to the hedge and pulled away one of it's many branches. Next, pointing her wand at it, Stephy shouted "contego" (shield) and the branch turned itno a shiled. Stephy quickly rose this to her head and the bat satretd to fly into it. Thinking quickly, Stephy pointed her wand at the shield whcih was still abover her and shouted "confundo" (confuse) and she knew that if the bats were to get too close or even touch the shield they would become confused and fall to the ground. With this spell she was able to make it through, so she hoped

The bats become confused and fly away, leaving Stephy alone.

Out of the ground around Stephy's feet spring tendrils of Devil's Snare. Up ahead she sees a mass of Venomous Tentaculas, their vines reaching towards her along with those of the Devil's Snare. There aren't any paths branching off from the one she is on until past the plants, so she needs to find a way through to continue on.

[color=lightblue]Stephy was glad to be rid of the bats thanks to her confusing shield and as she made her way through the hedge she noticed that it was still pretty dark and hard to see but that didnt slow her down. She kept going forward looking forward to getting to the end of the maze. After awhile the bats stayed away and lowering her shield, Stephy knew that she wouldnt have to deal with them.

Just than something snaged her leg and twisted around her. Stephy quickly threw out her wand and said "Lumos" and she saw something black coming towards her but once the light reached it the black thing quickly went away. Not Devil's Snare she thought. Stephy knew all about this plant having read about it in class and in a few books. Light would help her out a lot to get rid of this plant so she held down her shield and pointing her wand at it she shouted "Incendio" (fire and it started to burn at the middle. Than pointing her wand around the sides she said "exuro testimonium" (fire Proof) and she knew that the spell would prevent it from burning anywhere but in the middle. Next she said "vultus" (shape) and the shiled reshaped itself to form into a torch shape. this would Stephy would be able to carry it with ease. Picking it up, Stephy contnied forward holding the fire near the ground so that the Devil Snare wouldn't come near her.

Just than something green came crawling towards Stephy and at first she didn't know what it was. Than it hit her, she remembered this plant. It was the Venomous Tentacula and if it touched her it could kill her. She kept a close eye on the spkies, dodging them incase the vines treied to grab her but were successful. Just tha an idea hit her and pointing her wand at the vine she said "siccus" (dry). She than watched as the vines started to dry up and hoped that it was dying as she rushed by as quickly as she could, holding the fire close to her incase any more vines tried to grabe her. With the Venomous Tenracula drying and the Devil's Snaere not wanting to get close to the light, Stephy was sure she could get through without them harming her too much.

The plants shrivel up and retreat into the ground, leaving Stephy alone in the maze. She continues on and reaches a dead end. As she turns to go back and take another path, she hears a rushing of water and sees a tumbling flood pouring through the maze - and headed right towards her dead end!

Stephy stood staring at the wall in front of her and knew she had met a dead end. She turned around and started to hear rumbling. Looking in every direction she couldn't figure out where the noise was coming from but knew it was coming from the path she just went. Straining her eyes the best she couldshe saw movement of a wall of something coming towards her. Than she felt her feet getting wet and looking down she saw that it was water. Stephy dropped the tourch she was holding and was enveloped in dark.

Stephy knew the water was going to be hitting her soon and she knew she had to protect herself, but how? She had to think quick and all she had was the tourch beside her that was now extinguished of it's flame and the water flowing all around her. She quickly picked up the tourch and threw in it front of her. Next Stephy pointed her wand at it and shouted “paries” (wall) and the tourch grew in height and formed a woodened wall in front of her. Stephy knew that it wouldn’t protect her from all of the water but at least she wouldn’t get the full force of the water on her.

Now she had to find a way to protect herself better than just standing there. She pointed her wand at the water that was quickly rising around her and said “redimio” (surround) and the water formed up around her making a bubble. Next she shouted “edurus” (hard) and it turned hard like ice but it wasn;t ice. She knew that if the water hit her she would be protected in her water shield that she created. The only thing was that now she would bounce around as the water threw her and her protective water bubble around. To make the ride more confortable and pointed her wand around the inside of the bable and said “mollis” (soft). This way if she hit the edges it would fell as if she was falling onto a comfortable soft bed.

Woo! You've passed your fourth challenge!

The water gives up and evaporates after bouncing Stephy around for a while. She continues down on a path and sees some small shrubs popping out of the ground ahead. As she nears them, she hears muffled screeches, and is reminded of a certain Herbology class. These aren't innocent shrubs - they're mandrakes! And clawing themselves out of the ground! To hear their cry is bad, very bad, and they're all coming out at once!

Once the water was away and STephy made her way safelty out of her protective bubble, Stephy looked around and saw plants coming up out of the ground. Thats not normal Steohy thought as she raised her wand at the plants that were crawling out of the ground all around her. She saw the root of the plants coming up and thought that they looked farmiliar. Taking a closer look she saw that it was the forehead of a mandrake. Stephy started to panick. They were coming out of thr ground quickly and there were many of them. Just hearing the cry of one was enough to kill anyone. Here there would be many of them crying at once. She had no way of surviving if she heard their cry. If she heard thier cry! That was it. She just had to make it so that she wouldn;t be able to hear them.

Stephy pointed her wand at her ear and said "haud sanus" (no sound) and this spell made it so that no sounds could enter her ears and so she wouldn;t be able to hear anything, including the mandrakes cries. She watched as one of the little plants popped it's entire head out of the ground and let out an ear pircing scream but Stephy wasn't able to heard a thing. She grinned glad that she wasn't going to be killed by sound today. Now she had to get rid of them, or at least get them to stop crying.

Stephy walked up to the nearest one and looked down at the Mandrake. It was kind of cute and she wan't to cuddle it but she knew now wasn't the time. Maybe later. She pointed her wand at the ground beside the Mandrake and said "Defodio" (gouging Spell) and the spell cause a hole to appear in the ground. It wasn't a big hole but just big enough for the Mandrake to fit in. Stephy next placed the Mandrake into the hole and it cried until she covered the hole and the Mandrake with dirt. She knew that the ground would prevent the noise from reaching her ears, if she could still hear. She than turned to the next one and repeated her steps until they were all in the ground. Once finished she said "There all done. Now to continue on"

Fifth task accomplished! Half way there!

The mandrakes are successfully stuck in the ground, unable to bother Stephy. All of a sudden, the hedges around her shoot up in flames. Left - right - behind - in front - fire is everywhere! It's getting hot; the smoke grows thick. Stephy needs to put out the fire to move on - and not get hurt.

Stephy felt something hot on her back and turned around to see a wall of fire. She than felt heat from all around her body and knew that the hedges were on fire and as they kept burning the hotter it got. She tried to get away from the flames but if she didn't do something quick she would end up getting burned and if the fire got any closer she would start to freak out. Fire was one of her biggest fears.

She held up her wand and shoted the first spell that came to her head. "Aquamenti" (water charm) and water flew out of her wand towards the fire. She heard it sizzle and watched horrifed as it vaporized up into the air. Stephy started to freak out and was now running around the place trying to think of something that would work but nothing was coming to mind. If she was going to make it through she was going to ahve to calm down and focus.

So she stopped running around and stood in the middle of the fire. She took a deep breath and looked around. Fire to the left, right, behind and ahead. She was blocked in all that she could use is the ground beneath her feet.

"THats it!" She exclaimed pointed her wand at the ground and saying "Defodio" (gouging Spell) once again and the earth in from of her turned up and laid on the ground. She than said "Winguardium Leviosa" (levitating charm) and the loosen dirt rose into the sky and over the fire. She lifted the spell and the dirt fell on top of the fire smothering it, putting the fire out. Stephy beamed as she raced out of her prison of fire andf out to safty falling to the ground, glad that she managed to get away from the fire.

Yay! Sixth task passed!

Stephy continues on and finds herself traipsing up a shallowly sloping hill. Once she reaches the top and starts to head on down, she finds that the ground crumbles under her feet, and the hilltop is already almost - gone? It's disappeared! If she walks, the ground crumbles and vanishes, and if she doesn't will she fall into the mysterious darkness that replaces the earth? Or could it all be an illusion?

Stephy tried to continue on but every step that she took the ground beneath would cramble and fall away to what appear to be nothing. She looked down over the edge and saw that it looked like it went on forever. She was half tempted to just run across, afterall this was a maze for her charm class she sure it just appear to be crumbling away but really wasn't, In the end Stephy decided not to risk it and would use what was around her or what she had to get across.

Looking all around her all she saw was the hedge to the maze. "Might as well as use that" she thought as she walked over to it and started to rip of some of the twigs and branches that made up the maze's walls. She than made a giant pile in front of her and looked at it trying to think of what she could do to the branches in order to get across.

"I know what I can do!" She exclaimed as she pointed her wand at the pile and said "iungo" (connect) and the piles connected to form a long bridge that she could use to get across. She than said "Wingaurdium Leviosa" and watched as it levitated across the fall so that she would be able to walk on it and cross. She quickly ran across the bridge trying to get to the other side as quickly as she could.

stinky ground stops crumbling away, and Stephy is now on safe, solid ground. All of a sudden, a blinding purple light fills stinky maze. She cannot see - but has started to hear a mysterious crackling of twigs! She needs to see to find out wha-huh lies ahead!

Stephy was blinded by a purple light and was wondering what could of cause it. She was wondering around the maze holding her hands out in front of her trying to figure out where the light was coming from but failing to do so.

Just than Stephy heard something behind her. It sounded like twigs were breaking and she knew that unless there was an animal in the maze itself that there must gbe someone approuching her but she didn;t know if it was a friend or foe. She turned towards the noise rasing her wand high trying to think of what she could do.

Let's improvise with magic Stephy thought as she raised her wand up to her face and said "Undo visum"(wave vision). This would make it so that she could see just like a bat. She would use sonar to help her "see" where the newcomer was at but that wasn't good enough for Stephy. She had to do more. She had to see like she usually did and not just detect if something was in front of her. She than preformed the next spell saying "animadverto statua” (see image) and this would turn the waves into a picture so that she would be able to see what was in front of her. The only bad thing about this spell was that she now could only see in black and white. This didn’t bother Stephy too much. Seeing in black and white was better than not being able to see at all.

Now that she was able to see, Stephy turned to where the noise had come from and held her wand up high. She was ready to protect herself if whatever it was approaching her decided to attack

Stephy's spell makes it possible for her to see a small, shaky baby dragon stumbling along the path. Behind it she can see a cracked egg; this dragon has just hatched. The dragon is lost and confused - can she befriend it? Get it to its mother? Take it with her? She needs to be mindful of the harm a baby dragon can accidentally cause in order to stay safe. The purple light slowly fades away.

Stephy sees before her a baby dragon who just hatched from an egg that laid inches behind it. Stephy wanted to run over to the small dragon and hug it but she knew that since the dragon had just hatched that it could blow flames at her without meaning to. Baby dragons if they were able to breath fire are not very good at controling thier fire breathing til they were older and just a simple sneaze could set out a ball of fire. She had to be careful and Stephy also hoped that she was the first thing that the dragon had seen. Maybe then she could trick the baby dragon into thinking that she was it's mother.

First things first, Stephy had to protect herself from the flames and she knew exactly what she could do. She pulled out her wand and pointed it at her body. She than uttered the word "incendia testimonium" (fire proof) and Stephy knew that thanks to this spell if the dragon were to blow some flames towards her that she would be okay. The most that would happen to her would be that Stephy would feel her body start to get warm but she would not get burned.

Satisfied that she was now protected she walked over to the baby dragon holding on her hand. She would want the dragon to catch her scent first that why the dragon would not be startled and attacked. Hopefully if Stephy was the first thing that the dragon had seen the baby dragon might think that Stephy was its mother. As Stephy neared closer and closer to teh dragon she noticed that the purple light had started to fade away and with that her vision started to return to its normal state. With the light going away the spell no longer needed to stay in effect.

Aaah! So close! Only two more challenges and you're done!

The baby dragon nuzzles Stephy's hand and follows her on her way. Unfortunately, he's still sneezing like crazy. One of these flaming sneezes hits the ground, starting the grass on fire. And just as Stephy had seen the opening to the maze! Can she keep this little dragon out of trouble for just a little longer and stop the maze from burning down?

Stephy was walking onwards until she heard a sneeze behind her and she knew what that ment. She turned around and watched with horror as a little flame fell onto the ground and the grass started to smoke. Stephy quickly pulled out her wand and pointed it at the smoke saying "Aquamenti" (water charm) and the smoke went away.

Stephy walked over to the baby dragon and picked it up. "Little fellow you can't just go around sneezinf on everything. You'll have to be careful but we can't risk it again. For all we know you could sneeze again and set the entire place on fire." Stephy placed the baby dragon on the ground again and stood there thinking, putting on three more fires that the dragon almost started.

Just than an idea came to her. She would put a bubble around the dragon so that if the dragon sneezed and the flame hit the bubble it would extingusih the flame even before it touched the ground. She would have the bubble made out of water. pointing her wand at the dragon Stephy says "Unda ebullio" (water bubble) and an invisable bubble appeared around the dragon. Stephy watched as he sneezed yet again but thanks to the surrounding bubble the flame never touched the ground. Instead it hit the bubble and extingiushed. Once it hit the bubble that part of the bubble turned blue and wet which was it condensing into water to put out the flame. Stephy smiled satisfied that the spell would work

This earns you 240 out of the 250 points for completion (just a few grammar mistakes throughout, no biggie), and 25 for being the first to finish, giving you a grand total of...

Stephy picked up the baby dragon and ran out to the end of the maze. She was finally glad to be out of there but enjoyed the chllange. It was a lot of fun having to use her brain to try to get through the challanges and by the end of it she got a baby dragon.

"I shall name you Fredrick" Stephy said holding the dragon up and thand she held it to her breast and cuddled the baby Fredrick. Stephy than turned around to see a crowd of people coming towards her cheering and congradulating her. Stephy beamed and said "Party at the Ravenclaw Common Room!"
