About Quidditch Maneuvers | I don't want to describe my maneuvers, it's too much bother, I'd prefer just saying I looped or dove and be done with it. | | 20% | [ 3 ] | Points should be deducted for not describing maneuvers, it's a show of sloppy/lazy playing. | | 73% | [ 11 ] | I hate Quidditch, so really, I couldn't care less. | | 7% | [ 1 ] |

| OK, I have two issues with Quidditch maneuvers. The biggest issue is that hardly anybody uses them.
1) Now, when I'm judging Quidditch, and I read that you've done a loop or dive, that's fine. But if you NAME your loop - say, you call it the Drunk Badger or the Confused Eagle, it becomes an ESTABLISHED MOVE. Official moves earn you more points than regular loops or dives. Also, it isn't enough to say that you looped around a couple times. Describe your move. For example, I'm going to make up a move right now:
Confused Eagle (for chasers): Shout 'Oh dear Merlin, what's that?!' to an opposing player. Player is distracted momentarily. Loop around them first clockwise, then counter-clockwise, as if you can't make up your mind. Keep shouting and looping. Then grab the Quaffle when the opposing player's grip slackens due to bewilderment.
Then of course, there are the oldies but goodies, like the Sloth Grip Roll, Starfish and Stick, etc. But it isn't enough just to name the maneuver. Describe it. For example, if you're going to be using the Sloth Grip Roll, describe how you're hanging upside down, blood rushing to your head and you're getting dizzy, but the bludger whistles by right where your head was, previously to the roll. You've saved yourself from the bludger, but now you need to struggle to right yourself on your broom . . .
Describing the official maneuvers you choose makes for a much more interesting game, and when it comes to judging 'Maneuvers', descriptive ones will earn you more points.
2) It would save time if when performing a maneuver, you bolded the name, so that it is easily seen by judges. I don't read every single word of the posts, especially if it's a long game and everyone's busy drinking hot chocolate, or something. I hope I've never missed a move that any of you made, but to guarantee that the judges will see it, bold the name of the maneuver. It's not that hard.
So. What do you think? Yay or nay?

| Aye! I'm all for describing official moves! .. especially since I don't have all those moves in my head (oh the shame on me XD) and it's pretty annoying if someone just says they've used a particular move without describing it, since it leaves me clueless as to what's actually happening. And no, I shall not look up every single move that's mentioned by name just to try to decipher what someone else wrote. xD Plus, there are also house-specific moves, which *must* be described, since no-one from another house would understand what's meant by just the name.
And yay! also for the bolding. It's not difficult. xD

| I completely agree with (I think) all your points, Cris and Streams! I know that sometimes, if I do a move, I won't name it... *slowly inches away* xD because I'm just lazy like that, but now, (if this gets passed), now, I'll have to come up with names which, though it takes a while, is FUN! And that's what Quidditch is supposed to be about: Having Fun! (I hope). xD | |

| whee. official moves. i like that. Since most of the time I usually describe the moves I'm doing and name it ...sometimes. Official Names for it will be great and an added difficulty when role playing. | |

| I think named plays and moves are wonderful. I have troubles coming up with too many things as a seeker; the only thing I've used thus far was the Wronski Feint and I think that was actually last season. When I start growing accustomed to playing, I'll come up with more stuff. And I'm sure I will name it or at least describe it in detail. | |
