There are five exceptions to Gamp's Law of Transfiguration. However, only one is ever mentioned in the books. In this discussion you will be trying to identify the other four. You do not need to do all four, however if you do, you will get more housepoints.

I would wish to stress that there is no tight or wrong answer on this assignment. The key is to be creative and to explain your ideas throughly.

The first exception is yoiu cannot conjure food from thin air.

Scoring: there are a total of 20 points available for each point you bring up and 10 points for quality of work (for more information on that, read the post!).

I know you can't force someone to love, however, love potion is diffrent. Love potion wears off over a certain amount of time and would have to keep giving that person more and more potion. Another one was you cannot multiply money by magic. For the other two, I would think there is no way you can change your apprence by magic unless you had polyjuice potion or just born that way, like Tonks. And another maybe, you can't make clothes appear in thin air. Either you have the matrial to make them, or you don't.

Those were the best I could come up with.

I agree with violet about the money and the love... I think that those two would certainlty be two of the other four..

Why would they have a money system if people could eailsy make more of it by using magic. If there is a magical law against it then they would not have to worry about that promblem. As for love like Violet said you cannot make someone love you without them truely falling in love with you or you having to continually feed them a love potion.

As for the other two.... One could be that you could not bring back the dead. Otherwise no one would be dying if everyone just brough them back and when you bring them back they might not want to come back.

As for the last one.... Well Ill let you know when I think of something good

I think that you can't make money apear out of nothing, and you can't just bring about a ton of food. You would have to find some way of getting some food/money first, and like Hermione said in book 7 when Ron was complaining about the fish they had, you could enlarge your supply of it once you got it. For the others, i agree where you can't just make someone love you without love potion, and you cant bring someone back from the dead(like stephy said) and...you can't use magic to win contests, like with the rules for Felix Felices, at least you can't use a spell to make you or your team win because that would ruin all points of a game if players could cheat like that.

I think that you can't change a persons opion, you can wipe their memory, look at their thought, plant false images but it has never benn mentioned about being able to change how a person thinks about something. A love potion just sows the seeds of a thought, but then a brain takes it on and then later dispells or accepts it. I also agree with money/food/ded ones.
