Part Two

Do you know these days you just can't avoid remembering because they were so special in a way you don't like at all? Well, I've got a whole lot of these days, but one of them is standing out in the messy mass. It's the day that I went a lot more crazy than I usually am, and had just about everybody wondering about me.

It started a short time after breakfast, on my way to the first class of the day, Potions. I had never especially liked that subject - or the teacher, to be honest - but today it was worse than ever. My friends Cat and Kay were with me, and I kept getting on their nerves. Not that they weren't used to that, of course, but I think they'll remember this day just as well as I do for quite a while. I can faintly recall the first frenzy when I figured that I had left my assigned essay in the dorm.

"Oh my God, I am going to be expelled!", I screamed all of a sudden and stopped dead in my tracks. At my side, my wifeys did the same, turning to me with a confused look on their face. "What are you talking about, silly Muffin?", Kay demanded, and within a second I burst into tears.
"I-I forgot m-my essay in th-the d-dorm," I stuttered desperately, a new fit of sobs washing over me as I imagined the shame of having to leave school forever.

"Umm..." I could have seen the confusion on the two faces opposite me if I hadn't been so busy going crazy about Snape and the essay. "So what, Gemma?" The concern in Cat's voice only made me more confident that they both knew I was in a lot of trouble, and I almost howled as I imagined being without them. "I'm g-gonna miss you s-so much, b-both of you..." I knew that I didn't have a choice. It was either fetching the essay and being late or not having the essay with me, and whatever I did this would be my last day at Hogwarts.

Mechanically, I started walking, trying to blend out the helpless expressions beside me now. The tears helped me with that, and they fell faster again as I started shaking violently. What if he would have me tortured for the uncomprehendable faux pas? Would he make me his little guinea pig for potion testing? Oh my, I was going to die somehow, I was sure of it. I walked the three short steps towards Cat and slung my arms around her, trying to say goodbye and moistening her robes with my wet face. She just stood there immobilely and suddenly the realization dawned on me: They didn't care!

A sharp pain tore through me, and I leaped away from who I had thought was my friend, blindly stumbling in the direction of the dungeons. I had to at least be on time, I had to ignore that those girls weren't friends but just keeping me company out of pity. I wanted to scream, but I supressed the urge as I was nearing the dungeons. Everything was going wrong today!

Opening the door to the classroom, I fell right on my knees in front of Snape, kissing his robe and babbling half-finished excuses. I begged him to not kill me, to let me get my essay so he'd see I'd done everything I'd had to do. I told him how everything was just ending up today horribly far from being the way it was supposed to, and I hoped he would have some compassion. I screamed and begged and cried and I saw from the glint in his eyes that he enjoyed the sight of me. I cried and sobbed even more at that revelation. Why me?

As I heard snickers and giggles behind me, the hysteria intensified and didn't let go of me at all, I was devastated and how could everything just fall apart in a matter of minutes? Snape seemed not so comfortable now, and he stalked off to his office. I had failed again, I was doomed. How? Why? Suddenly the Potions master returned, a vial in his hand which he shoved in mine and ordered me to drink it. Would this be my death now? I opened the vial and gulped down its contents, just wanting to fade away now, away from the horr-

Suddenly, I felt the tears run dry and I looked around again. Somehow everything seemed a lot less bad already, and I wondered why I was sitting on the floor because of an essay. What had happened here? I felt a deep crimson blush creep onto my face, and stood up with all the grace I could muster to ask Snape what had happened. "It seems you have consumed Alihotsy, Miss Cullen, and I advise you not to do that again. I might not have been just as helpful if you hadn't posed an indignity to the house of Slytherin!"

Gazing at the floor, I whispered my thanks, and turned around to sit down at my usual desk between Cat and Kay, who seemed to be grinning at me rather weirdly. Just as I wanted to ask them about it, Snape started the lesson and I was sure that he wouldn't be as, well, friendly with me again throughout the course of this lesson, so I just kept my mouth shut.

Of course with my super memory I never actually remembered to ask my friends about those fishy expressions, but I have an idea that something was off with the 'perfect new tea' they had offered me that very morning. And believe me, one day they're going to pay for that!

Part Two:
I absent mindedly reached for a bottle from my herb stores, opened the bottle and tasted it. I statred to hyperventilate and then I read the old, yellowed lable: "Alihosty Leaves: DO NOT INGEST, CAUSES HYSTERIA!"
Almost emediatley, I couldn't breathe and my body started to vibrate. I was terrified and the fact that I had no control, physically or emotionally, only made it worse. I managed to remember that there was an antidote in the cupboard and I darted for it. I tried to focus as I searched the shelves looking for something, anything. I forced myself to push that cold, all consuming fear down and my eyes fell on a label that almost screamed the words on it, "Treacle." I was trembling so violently that the moment after I retreived the labled botlle, it fell from my fingers and shattered on the floor.
Then, I collapsed and curled into the fetal position, so numb with fear that I never noticed the glass injected into my hands and knees. I grabbed the bottles contaents and shoved it into my mouth. As I swallowed, I watched the room slowly stop spinning and the only thing I felt was a dull throbbing from my wounds. Calm and exaughsted.

Part II
I couldn't control myself. I'd never laughed so much in my life. My mother and father both thought that they had walked into the hyena section of our local zoo when they came into the house that summer break. They were so scared when they saw me literally rolling on the floor laughing and I swear I heard father say something about never letting me go back to Hogwarts again. I should have known what it was though. At least checked up on it before one of my friends dared me to eat it. None of this was registering in my mind though... All that was was how my cheeks hurt from all the smiling.
Talking wasn't an option as my mouth only had one function: smiling. I fumbled for a pen and scribbled on what looked like a peice of paper... It wasn't a peice of paper but the wall! It read: "Glumbumble". I saw my father rush into my room and I imagined he would be looking for something like that in my supplies that I brought from school to do some homework. Seconds later a hot sticky liquid entered my mouth and for some reason I blacked out... Mother always said I had a weak bladder!
