| Part 1 – Essay Devil Snare loves to grow in dark, cool places. Places like in a basement or anywhere else where it is dark and damp would be a perfect place for the Devil Snare to grow at. It doesn’t look like much. If you were to see a Devil Snare plant it would look like a bunch of black vines. These vines are what it uses to strangle anyone or anything that falls into this plant. As soon as you or some item comes into touch with this plant it will start to try to suffocate you. It does this by taking it’s vine looking things and wrapping itself tightly against your body. It’s grip on you will keep getting stronger and stronger until you are dead. The more you try to get away the quicker it will try to kill you. If you ever find yourself trapped in some Devil Snare take out your wand and perform the lighting spell or any other spell that would create light since the Devil Snare does not like to be in or around light. Also you would want to remain calm and try not to move around so much or you would lessen your time of escape.

| Essay: Fanged Geranium
Fanged Geranium is a magical plant often found in gardens of witches and wizards as a way of defence. Contrary to other guardian plants, such as the Devil's Snare or Venomous Tentacula, it has an appearance much like that of Muggle Geranium, making it inconspicuous to both wizards and Muggles. It also quite much equals that plant in regards of caring for and handling it as well as the way it looks and is structured.
A single plant of Fanged Geranium consists of half a dozen green leaves in the shape of wavy circles, a thick, hard stipe and a huge flower that can vary in colour. Inside the flower, in the chalice in its middle, there is a circle of fangs that measure approximately one inch.
Growing Fanged Geranium
-> As Gerania of any kind need a lot of sun to blossom into full glory, one should find a place for the seeds with the best sun supply to be found in the whole garden. In case Gerania don't get enough sunshine, the flowers which also contain the fangs might not blossom out and the plants will therefore be useless both if meant for safekeeping or for practical usage as well as for beautifying. It could also happen that instead of being an aggressive guardian, the plants end up as melancholic and miserable heaps of green. -> Gerania furthermore prefer a warm climate and will die if exposed to frost. To prevent this, they need to be kept in a heat bubble of normal summertime temperature once winter approaches. -> Fanged Geranium is a plant requiring a rather huge amount of water, Aguamentiing needs to be performed on a daily basis. For perfect growth, the flowerbed should be fertilised regularly, at least once a week, with the finest dragon dung. -> To grow a new plant from already existing ones, either seeds or cuttings can be used. The better the mother plant providing these was cared for, the more useful the new plant will be for all means.
Using Fanged Geranium
-> The plant as a whole can, as mentioned before, be used easily as a guard for single objects or the whole orchard. Generally one can say it can be used as a way of keeping almost anything safe. It may also serve as a warning for thieves planning to enter a house via its garden or as a help in getting rid of something (or someone, but of course I would never propose such things). -> In potions Fanged Gerania possess a widely spread area of effects. Due to their strong and aggressive nature, they may be found in strengthening solutions and potions which enhance aggression. In this case powdered fangs or chopped roots are the most common parts included. A rather surprising and only recently discovered other way of using Fanged Geranium in potion making is adding dried pieces of the flowers to make the taste of potions more pleasant. If included as an ingredient this way, one needs to make sure that the Geranium doesn't influence the effect of the potion itself.
