as I guess the few portuguese people here besides me don't want to do this, I'll be the new Portuguese teacher!

hehe... don't worry, i don't think it's very hard to learn... xP

the first thing that you need to know it's how to say things... like... the pronuncy or however do you spell that...

ok, so, i'll try to make you understand how do you say the vowels...

A - ah... like in cAr or fAr...
E - ok, say bear... the E for us is the EA in bear for you... like in the word let
I - this is easy... for us, I is like how you say E...
O - ok, ok, let's see... like oh... you say it like ow... without the w in the end...
U - you say it like YU... just say it without the Y... like oo... following?

ok, teaching is harder than i thought... but well...

Hmm Let's start the corrections XD
You see Brazilina even though is pretty similar is Brazilian portuguese not Portuguese Portuguese like there's uk english and us english.

First I'll make translations into a non-formal way of speaking.
Second in portuguese we can omit the subject (I, You...) because the conjugation that is the ending of the verb indicates what the subject is (if I or you...)
Third in portuguese everything has genders (masculin or feminin) so all the adjectives need an indication if it's masculin or feminin. In almost every cases an 'a' refers to feminin and 'o' refers to masculin. I.E - the adjective nice >>> simpáticO (masculin) >>> simpáticA (feminin)

(Eu) preciso de falar contigo (I need to talk to you)
(Eu) amo-te (I love you)
Vou sentir a tua falta (or) Vou sentir saudades tuas (I'll miss you)
Como estás? (How are you)
Olá. O meu nome é _____ (Hi. My Name is _____)
Gostarias de dançar? (Would you like to dance?)
(Eu) Gosto do teu vestido (I like your dress)
(Tu) És lindo/a (You're beautiful)
(Tu) És muito simpático/a (You are very nice)
(Tu) És uma pessoa simpática (You are a nice person)

I wanna learn Portuguese, and i don't want it to end up like my "Learn Spanish: For Idiots" CD which is now a coaster xD

So to start with i wanna know what this says:

Nota mental: Esquecer a ideia de levar um desses chineizinho como souvenir.

I'm gonna hazard a guess and say the first bit Nota mental translates to Mental Note?

For me, i want to be able to pick up the general stuff, and be able to say ALL of it ... but you know, i am quite dumb, my brain freezes quickly. So um, yeah, an idiot proof way for me to learn would be muchly appreciated!!!!

You're perfectly right. As for the rest, it means:

Mental Note: Forget the idea of taking one of these 'little chinese people' ({chineizinho} not sure about that phrase, actually). as a souvenir.

That's what I think and I hope I helped. My portuguese is a far cry from perfect though.

Well for a start you can tell me what words you don't say in Portuguese so that i'm not blundering on like an idiot to handsome brazilian hunks ... i'm keeping it simple though, i aim to learn at least 3 sentances:
