| - Quote :
- Based on the hit West End musical, featuring the music of ABBA about an independent, single mother who owns a small hotel on an idyllic Greek island, Donna (Meryl Streep) is about to let go of Sophie (Amanda Seyfried), the spirited daughter she's raised alone. For Sophie's wedding, Donna has invited her two lifelong best girlfriends?practical and no-nonsense Rosie (Julie Walters) and wealthy, multi-divorcee Tanya (Christine Baranski)?from her one-time backing band, Donna and the Dynamos. But Sophie has secretly invited three guests of her own. On a quest to find the identity of her father to walk her down the aisle, she brings back three men from Donna's past to the Mediterranean paradise they visited 20 years earlier. Over 24 chaotic, magical hours, new love will bloom and old romances will be rekindled on this lush island full of possibilities. Sophie's father could be any of her mother Donna's past suitors: Sam Carmichael (Pierce Brosnan), Bill Austin (Stellan Skarsgård), or Harry Bright (Colin Firth). The only way for her to find out is to invite all three to her wedding to see what happens.
I went to see this today and I thought it was brilliant. Very, very funny and despite the fact that I don't really like Abba's music, the song and dance parts were great. Julia Walters is absolutely hilarious, and Meryl Streep has a surprisingly good singing voice. I'd definitely recommend this, even if you aren't a fan of Abba's music.

| I grew up with ABBA songs :D I can still remember my mom dancing around the kitchen, TRYING to cook or something, and singing along to one of the songs... :D Anyway, the movie was really good, and the songs just bring a whole lot of memories. I can them all, word to word.. xD | |

| Yes, I did think that :D He's been in The History Boys as well - and I saw an advert for an upcoming Kiera Knightly film called The Duchess and he's in that as well. New star?
Anywhoo, I can't rave about this film enough. Seriously, even if you think it won't appeal, GO SEE IT! I thought I hated ABBA's music, but I LOVED the film.

| I always LOVED the ABBA music - me being a friendly neighbour of the homeland of ABBA, haha :D I just didn't think I would like the movie, but it was the perfect summer movie, don't you think? I mean, if it had been in the theatres on winter, I would have been VERY depressed after it xD
Anyway, yeah, I think he's going to be a big star someday.. I mean, he could be the new James McAvoy, right? :D

I think it's the perfect, feel good summer film that's lots and lots of fun!
*Is going to see it for the 4th time on Wednesday* :D

| ...you're obsessed xD You're like me with The Dark Knight - it's gooooooooooood The island in the movie reminded me of our summer place.. we own an island (like many people in Finland xD), and I SO wanted to go there when I watched the movie.. if you just removed the hotel, or whatever they called it in the movie, and replaced it with a nice villa, it could have been our summer place :D | |

I agree - I pretty much looked forward to hear him sing, because I giggled everytime I thought "Wow, a singing James Bond!", and I SOMEHOW expected a miracle to happen when he opened his mouth, but I was a bit disappointed... he's not a great singer, is he now? :D
(Oh, I have tea parties on my private island from 9-5 every day :D WELCOME!!!!!! xD ...oh, and bring Aimee too, Elfie :D)

| Hehehe I loooooooooooved this movie! ^.^ I've just seen it today (... as you can tell from my rather hyper-ish GHCR post... xD) with my parents and it was brilliant! :D The actors, the music and all of that incredible energy! Some of my faves: - Meryl Streep - AWEEESOME acting, charming woman, love her! <3; - Colin Firth - always handsome, niiiice smile; - the freakin' MUSIC! again! - ... now I'm listening to ABBA songs in YouTube for about half an hour, isn't that enough proof of my lurrrve for them? :D - the setting <3 <3 <3 - the girl who played Sophie (no clue what the actor's name is xD) was so sweeeet and funny ^.^ - *and*: she had a beautiful voice! - the mad plot idea! :D - the HYPERNESS! .... etc etc etc ........ Just after the film ended, I got a message along the lines of, "I hope you didn't already see Mamma Mia, because we're going to it together!" - my answer was: "I wanna see it the second time!!" XD So there, I'll be going again soon Oh btw, yeah ... Pierce Brosnan singing was ... a surprise (daaaammit, this post is full of smileys, exclamation signs and all of that ... xD ... sorry. ... it's the movie's fault! XD) | |
