The final duel is one big duel where each remaining participant works alone. Battle your fellow duellists so we can discover this term's champion! Each duellist should make up to six posts - but no more than six. Take note of the duel location and set up as follows:

-The duelling arena is a brightly lit, marble room.
-There are no windows and only one door.
-The ceiling is enchanted to act like the night sky.

You will be marked on the following:

* Eye for surroundings
* Defensive and offensive spells (both what spells are used and how well they are used)
* Knowledge of spells
* Eye for detail (both your own posts and others posts)
* Inventiveness and creativeness as a whole

Please avoid one sentence posts. Try to develop your duelling posts into more than one paragraph. See the howler in the main forum for more information on how to duel successfully.

Stephy looked down at her piece of paper that told her the time and place of her next and final duel for the term. She was excited about this last duel, the duel that would determine the winner. Stephy quickly scanned the names of who she was about to duel against and a huge smile appeared on her face. This duel is going to be a challenging one Stephy thought as she shoved the paper into her pockets and ran down the hall and to the door that lead to where she was going to be dueling at. She pushed open the door and took a quick glance around to see what she was going to be battling in and was almost blinded. The passageway was a bit dark but the dueling room was bright and she had to squint at first til her eyes became accustom to the light.

As Stephy shut the door behind her she took another glance around the room, glad now that her eyes had become accustomed to the bright light now, and saw that she was the first one in there. Yay a she thought as she pulled out her wand. Since she was the first it met that she would be able to set up the traps first and wouldn’t have to worry about getting trapped in them herself. Looking around the room she saw that there wasn’t much to work with inside of the room. She saw that there weren’t any windows at all in the room. Looking up, Stephy expected to see light but instead she saw the sky. Um, just like in the great hall Stephy thought as she tried to think of what she was going to do since she couldn’t really use much of what was in the room.

Well since everyone is going to be comeing through the door might as well as make a trap there Stephy thought as she turned to face the door and she said “exuro” (burn). Whoever touches the door will have their hand burnt. This she hoped that when they touched the door they would make some kind of noise of pain so that she would know that someone was entering the room. She then pointed her wand at the floor and said “Aquamenti” and water poured out of her wand and onto the floor. The spell ended up flooding the bit of floor front of the door and she quickly followed it with “congelo” (freeze) so that the water turned into ice. Smiling she turned away from the door and looked around the room.

Since there was nothing to use that was already in the room, Stephy turned to her robes and ripped off a small piece of fabric. Pointing her wand at it she said “gero” (bear) and a little bear about three feet tall appeared taking the place of the fabric. It looked like a stuff bear that one would use as a teddy bear to sleep with. Stephy held it out in front of her and muttered “How cute” before placing it onto the floor and using another spell. “tentatio inimicus” (attack opponents) was the spell that she used on the bear. As soon as someone entered the room they would see a little teddy bear in the middle of the room looking harmless. Then as they got closer the bear would attack either by biting or clawing at the dueler.

Now I got to take care of myself Stephy thought as she pointed her wand at herself and said “Protego” (shield Charm) and a little shield appeared around her that would protect her from minor spells and weaker some of the stronger ones. She then ran off to one of the corners and pointing her wand at herself again she said “misceo” (blend). Her body then changed to be the same color as the wall which was a light marble. As she stepped away from the wall she saw that she was still the same color. She then backed up against the wall again and tried to stand still waiting for someone to enter the room. As soon as the bear attacked her opponent she would attack next.

Elladora went down the staircase to the Notice Board, as soon as she read the information, she froze. Eventually, she remembered how to swallow. One duel... four people... no teams... This was it. She had made it to the end, but this was the best of the best as far as dueling goes. No time for hesitating or doubt. Everthing must be done thoroughly and adequately. No blind spots or room for mistakes. This was the final threshold. 'No, that's the final threshold,' she thought looking down the hallway at the door where she would be dueling.

Elladora began down the hallway. "Lumos (light)," she murmured. Giving herself some light. She walked carefully down, casting furtive glances every few seconds. Surely she was being very paranoid. When she get to the door, she stopped dead in her tracks. She'd no idea what was coming, she had to prepare for everything. "Homemun Revelio." (Reveals the presence of humans) She pointed her wand at the door, figuring out that someone was in there. "Protego (Shield)," she aimed at herself, an extra protectant that she would need now more than ever. Elladora took a deep breath. Her heart was pounding and she wanted it to stop.

After three more deep breaths, Elladora slowlyy reached her hand out to touch the doorknob. As soon as her skin made contact with it, she winced and pulled away. That stings. 'Obviously,' she thought. 'Someone's in there. They must have placed a burning charm on it. I could smash it down... or...' Elladora thought, staring intently at the door. "Aquamenti! (water)" she said aloud, pointing her wand at her left hand. She reached out to grab the doorknob and stepped into a brightly lit room. Then, she was blinded.

That light was insanely bright. Resulting from the bright light she fell on the ice beneath her and slid across the floor a few meters. When she was about ten meters from the center of the floor, she stopped. Something had her attention. A teddy bear, it seemed. She turned her entire body in it's directed and pretended to be enthralled with it, but her eyes wandered searching for the person who had made it her before them . She gradually stood up on her feet and scuffed up the ice beneath her, it wasn't too hard, she'd be able to walk. She looked up into the night sky and smiled: a full moon. Then she stepped forward a few paces to pick up the bear, when she got close enough, the bear attacked her! She went backwards way too fast, falling once more, and yelled, "Diffindo! (splicing spell)" The bear was torn to shreds.

Elladora recovered quickly expecting something to happen within the next 1.5 seconds. "Fulgar Flamma! (flash fire)" she yelled. Creating a circle of fire around her, melting the ice inside the circle and for a few meters outside as well.

Stephy stood there for awhile straining her ears for anything that would indicate that someone was entering the room. After waiting for a few minutes she thought that she heard something but she didn’t heard someone call out in pain. I must be going crazy Stephy thought to herself as she waited. She watched the door eyeing it carefully when all of a sudden it started to open. Now the duel beginsStephy thought as she ready herself. She watched as Elladora entered t he door and then slipped on the ice but she quickly got back to her feet. She wanted to attack Elladora right then and there but for some reason he held back and watched to see what she would do. Elladora than walked up to the bear and acted like she was going to pick it up but the bear attacked. Elladora was too quick though and the bear didn’t have a chance against her. She shredded the bear into pieces and Stephy saw her chance.

She took a step away from the wall and aimed her wand at the falling pieces and shouted spells at the falling fabric that was from the bear. “certamen (combine), tendo (stretch), vulnus (wound)” were the spells that she shouted, one right after the next. The pieces as they fell to the ground came together with her first spell. The fabric become a great shapeless blob of fabric until it was hit by the next spell. The second spell cause the fabric to stretch so that it started to look more like a ribbon than a blob and with the third spell it tried to wrap itself around Elladora still stretching as it did. Once it was done stretching around Elladora than the fabric would stop to stretch. Stephy smiled at her work but then her frown went away when a fire appeared around her melting the ice she was standing on. She then came to the conclusion that Elladora would easily be able to burn off the fabric or even curse it off so then she sent another spell at the fabric and said “silex” (rock) and the fabric turned into rock.

Stephy then next decided that she would deal with the fire. She didn’t want to just put it out with water so she decided to use it to her advantage. She pointed her wand at the fire around Elladora and said “procerus” (taller) and the flames started to get grow getting taller. Soon the falls were up higher than Elladora’s head and that’s when she sent another spell at the flames pointing her wand at the top of the flames. Stephy shouted “propinquus” (close) and the flames closed making a dome shape around Elladora. She then followed that with “etiam” (still) and the flames stopped moving and became still, it was somewhat as if she was surrounded by a wall but this wall was still very hot and would burn her if she touched it. Once she was finished with that Stephy backed towards the wall again and watched to see what Elladora would do next

Elladora felt a movement coming around near her, and directed her head to the voice she heard. "Stupefy!" she shouted, sending a stunning spell quickly, but having to divert her attention to a stretching rock that was going to break through her wall of fire. Elladora quickly thought through her outs, but before she could react, one of the previously shot spells hit her flaming wall, sending it towering above her head and closing the gap above her.

The heat was unbearable, and she needed to react quickly if she wasn't going to be incinerated by the now falling ceiling. "Aspiro Stagno Aqua (breathe under water)," she muttered, pointing her wand at her throat. "Aquamenti!" she yelled, hoping the force of the water would de-solidify the fire dome and let her go. The water pressure was building up under the fire, and Elladora was immediately thankful that she had thought to allow herself to breathe underwater. She let the water pressure go so far as to expand the dome two few more in diameter and height and thought the it would need a little extra help.

Elladora stopped the flow of water and shouted, "Confringo!" at the wall. The wall exploded into many pieces, flying across the room. The built-up water flooded the room by about three inches and some rock wall pieces were like islands. Elladora stood on one and faced Stephy. Hoping she had the advantage with the now super-slippery floor Elladora took offense.

"Caligo Pluit! (Darkness falls)" Elladora called, watching intently as a heavy layer of darkness settled in. "Absolutio Aspectus, (perfect vision)" Elladora thought, pointing her wand at her eyes. Seeing clearly through the dark, she aimed at Stephy.

"Glacialis Flabra (Icy Wind)," Elladora shot at her, expecting the thousands of small ice particles to cut through her skin. After a second Elladora realized that that wasn't such a great a idea, because now, she once-wet clothes were now frosting at the edges.

Alice calmly walked to the dueling room, trying not to think about how this was the deciding duel that would ultimatly determine who the winner of the dueling competition was, that this duel was what she had been working towards for months. Alice sighed, trying not to let those thoughts enter her mind. She knew she would be hopeless if she was stressed, and focusing on the importance of the duel instead of on the duel itself. Alice approached the door, and noticed that the door handle was wet, and drops of what she assumed to be water were slowly dripping off. It took Alice all of one second to figure out what that meant. Some one else was already here, ready to attack. Alice gulped, remembering the last time she had entered a dueling room after someone else. Alice groaned, suppressing the mental image that involved herself trapped in a tree in quick sand.

Deciding that it would probably be more useful to actually enter the dueling room, Alice took a deep breath and threw open the door. The handle was a little bit warm, almost as if someone had charmed it to burn, but the remaining water had stopped the heat from really becoming painful. Upon entering the room, Alice realized it was completely dark, and not only was there ice on the floor, but there was a freezing, icy wind blowing through the room. Alice jumped as the door swung shut behinf her, echoing loudly and cutting off the small bit of light that had emmitted itself from the hallway. Alice, who was a complete pro at jumping in shock or supprise was not quite as talented at landing these jumps, especially on slippery half-melted ice and landed painfully on her backside. Alice let out a small wimper of pain before eternally kicking herself. 'Way to give away your position!' Alice thought to herself . Deciding that her dueling performance would be reasonably enhanced if she could see through the darkness, Alice wispered, ''Nightvisious (Night Vision)''. This enabled her to see Elladora and there was movement against one of the wall which could be someone in disguise but rather than risk attacking somthing that wasnt there, Alice decided her best bet was on Elladora.

Alice pointed her wand at herself and wispered, ''Klon (Clone)''. Four other Alices appeared next to her, all mirroring her movement. It was impossible to tell them apart. Satisfied that Elladora wouldnt be abl to attack her with ease, Alice (and her clones) pointed her wand at her friend and wispered ''Ude samouprave (Attack self)''. This would cause Elladora to ingure herself, letting Alice sit back and watch, free to defend herself incase anyone else decided to show up.

Stephy watched as Elladora tried to send a Stunning Spell at her but she saw that her spell was going to miss her so she didn’t bother to try to dodge it. She looked and saw that it was the fact that she had sent a spell at Elladora that had caused her spell to be off. Stephy stood back and decided that she would watch to see how Elladora dealt with spells that she had sent at her before she would send more.

All of a sudden there was a loud noise that sounded like something was breaking and looking around she saw that Elladora had managed to break her fire wall and now there was water flowing out towards her. Luckily there was much water and the floor was only covered about three inches of water. Stephy stood still hoping that this would help to hide her but she knew that Elladora was a good dueler and she held her wand tight prepared for whatever she had planned to do nect. Stephy saw that she was standing on a piece of the fire wall that made it so that she didn’t have to stand in the water like she was. Elladora than raised her wand and Stephy was ready to use a countercurse but instead of cursing her Elladora had made the room black. Shoot now I got to deal with that Stephy thought as she waited to see what she would do next. Next Stephy felt the room grow cold and there was something sharp hitting her entire body. She was in pain because of whatever it was that was hitting her. She couldn’t see what it was and this was bothering.

She raised her wand and said “virga contego” (stick shield). A shield appeared around her and the ice started to hit that instead of her but instead of falling to the ground it just stuck there. Stephy knew that the spell was working, not because there was now a layer of ice surrounding her but because she no longer felt any more pain on her body. Now to deal with my sight Stephy thought as she raised her wand and said “lux lucis os” (light sight) and now she was able to see. Her sight had brighten up as if it was a sunny day and she could see the ice that was surrounding her. She smiled, Now I have an ice shield. As she tried to look around though she couldn’t see pass the ice so she pointed her wand at the ice and said “perspicuous” (transparent) and the ice had now became clear and Stephy was able to see through it. Well this shield is going to last for so long so I might as well as come up with a way to protect myself Stephy thought as she pointed her wand at her body and said “erigo siccus” (raise temperatire) and her body started to get warmer as her body heat increased. Her body was giving off so much heat that it now started to melt the ice shield surrounding her. Well I should make use of this before it melts Stephy thought as she pointed her wand at the ice ball and said “extraho” (dragon) and the ice ball moved away from her.

The ice collapsed into itself and then started to mold into a shape of a dragon. The ice ball moved out first to make its head and neck, forming the teeth and horns that grew out from its head. Next a tail formed with a spade at the end of it. Four feet appeared under the ice making, each equipped with sharp icy claws. Then wings grew out of its back and the ice ball had finally stopped its transformation into a dragon. The dragon threw back its head and breathed out an ice ball that shot out towards the other end of the room and hit off of the wall leaving a huge hole. The dragon then turned to Elladora and Alice and started to attack them next.

Stephy stood there watching the dragon and the noticed that the ice wasn’t hitting her. Looking off to her side she saw that her body heat was hot enough to melt the ice before it hit her. She smiled and then looked at the ground where there was a huge pool of water. Everywhere else there was a coating of ice thanks to the spell that Elladora had performed. Stephy stepped forward away from the wall and now she spotted that there was more than one Alice and that the dragon was breathing ice balls towards each of the Alice’s and Elladora.

Alice watched as Stephy came into view. It seemed the freezing icy wind Alice had been experience was simply run off for the full blast of the spell that had been sent at Stephy. Alice watched as Stephy created a transparent ice shield, which promptly turned into a dragon. This dragon began breathing ice balls and a loud crash told Alice that one of its ice balls had made a hole in the wall. The dragon reared up on its hind legs and began breathing the ice towards Elladora, Alice and her four clones. Alice winced as a huge clump of snow and ice hit her. 'Oh my god! Its freezing!' Alice thought as she started shivering. The only good thing about the current situation was as the dragon had six targets, its attack was far less concentrated.

Alice looked at the ice dragon when the most obvious idea came to mind. The dragon was created from an ice shield, so therefor it was made of ice. If it was made of ice then surely it would melt? Alice pointed her wand at the ice-dragon and muttered, ''Derretimiento (Melt)''. Alice couldnt supress a small grin as the dragon gave a strangled cry. Alice hoped it was melting but couldnt be 100 percent sure. It sounded like it was in pain at the very least and its attack ceased, for the moment at least.

Alice then turned her wand on Stephy. Alice hated attacking her friends like this, but had to remind herself it was a duel and surely no one could be critically hurt.''Helada (Freeze)'', Alice wispered as the purple jet of magic shot towards her friend. If it hit her, Stephy's tepmerature would quickly continue to drop until she reached a state of hyperthermia. Alice decided that if it got that far she would intervene and hlp her. Alice knew Stephy had great reaction so she also said ''Lento (Slow)''. This would slow down all her movements, making it far harder to attack or defend herself.

Elladora watched Alice enter the room and took note of four more of her appearing. She was beyond confused, but she also had to take note of Stephy. She looked over and saw that Stephy had formed some kind of dragon that was now shooting ice at her. "Protego!" Elladora called, halting the ice attack. Unfortunately, in the process, she had also whacked herself inthe head with her wand.

Luckily, the ice-dragon was melting, and Alice seemed to be paying more attention to Stephy, so she could properly fix herself. Elladora attempted to seclude herself in a different area of the room, but instead found herself sliding around on her knees, only stopping when she crashed into a chunk of her previous chamber. She quickly decided that spells probably wouldn't be the best way to go, but she had to act fast because she was wide open. "Rennervate (revive)," she muttered, restoring her energy and a common sense of mind. Testing it out, she pondered swiftly and looked over to Alice and Stephy, calling, "Expolso! (explode)" exploding two large mounds of fire wall by them for a distraction.

"Tarantallegra!" she yelled at both of them. This would make them dance, perhaps with each other. Elladora picked herself off the semi-frozen ground and carefully walked over to the main area. With a step that had a little too much force, she cracked through the semi-frozen floor and slipped again. She was causing more damage to herself than her opponents. The after-effects of the previous spell must still be lingering.

Stephy stood there for a moment and watched as all of the Alice’s and Elladora was hit by the ice balls that the dragon was shooting towards them. Stephy stood there and watched as the dragon threw balls of ice towards everyone, one at a time and then all of a sudden the dragon cried out in pain. Aww poor thing Steohy thought as it started to shrink and she quickly understood that someone was melting it. She watched as the dragon got smaller and smaller until soon there was a puddle of water that quickly changed into ice.

Stephy was too busy watching the dragon and she ddint even notice the spell that was heading right for her. She looked up and saw that there was a beam of light heading towards her that indicated that she was about to get hit by some unknow spell. She went to duck it but she wasn’t fast enough. The spell cuased her to start to get colder but she didn’t pay any attention to it. She was going to try to ignore it til it became a problem. She followed the direction that the spell was coming from and she saw yet another one heading towards her that Alice had sent at her. She was hit by this spell too and she went to quickly raised her wand and said “glacies laqueus” (ice trap) and she watched as the spell headed towards Alice but she quickly noticed that her movements seemed to be slow. What? Did she send a spell at me to slow me down Stephy thought as she quickly started to get colder.

Just as she was about to deal with these problems she heard an explosion that she thought that Elladora caused and then the next thing she noticed was that she was dancing. She tried to stopped and knew right away that Elladora had cursed her while she wasn’t looking. Now she had to try to get warm, try to move faster and then try to stop dancing. She wanted to deal with them all at once but she knew she wouldn’t be able to so she delt with them one at a time. So far the coldness wasn’t bothering her much so she decided to deal with the others first.

The dancing had to stop. She pointed her wand at her feet and said “tripudio in vox” (dancing into power) and she stopped dancing but the spell was still working. So long as her spell was working than the spell that caused her to dance wouldn’t make her dance but take that energy it took to dance and make her spells more powerful. Stephy smiled as she turned her attention to her next problem.

Stephy started to feel the temperature continue to drop and soon she was shivering. Enough of this she thought as she stood there not caring about the increasing cold or the spell that was still making her movements slow. She just stood there and concentrated. She pictured in her mind’s eye a red western dragon. Pictured the way the long neck and tail helped keep the creature balanced so that it would be able to walk. She pictured the scales that covered its entire body and its huge wings that protruded from its back. She thought of the head and how a few horns grew from the top of its head and the huge teeth that filled its mouth. She then pictured herself. Five feet tall with brownish hair, standing there with her eyes closed. She then thought of herself changing from her human form and into a dragon form. Her skin turning red and scaly and her body expanding to take the shape of the giant beast that she was turning into, she felt her skin that to tinkle and warm as she transformed. Once the tingling and the warm sensation went away she opened her eyes and saw that she was taller. She had changed into her animagus from, a western dragon.

She looked around the room and saw Alice’s many selves. Stephy turned around to face her her movements still slow. Once she was facing her she expanded her wings and started to flap them. The storm that had formed into the room was now mainly concentrated toward Alice as she pushed wind, and ice towards her and her clones. She then shivered a little as the spell still caused her to get colder and turning her head around and not her body she found Elladora. She threw back her head and sent a giant ball of fire towards her. It melted the ice that was in the air as if flew towards Elladora.

Elladora's hair flew in all directions as the huge dragon saored at her. She quinted up at the dragon and wondered how this could possibly end. She didn't know how to defeat a dragon. Nevermind that this dragon had the mind mind of a human, she didn't know how it would react to any of the spells she could possibly cast at it. Stunning would take many wizards; this dragon was heated so it would freeze easily; Erasing its memory couldn't possibly help...

Something that would weaken it, possibly something that could damage a human bedly, that would effect a dragon as much. Elladora shouted the first spell she could think of. "Sectumsempra! (severing)" she hoped this wouldn't hurt human-Stephy too much, but decided that she would heal her after the duel.

"Reducto! (reducing)" Elladora yelled at the dragon, trying to make herself heard over the wind. She hoped that this would help her against the dragon, but wasn't entirely sure. She figured that maybe, instead of preventing the dragon from doing work, she'd protect herself instead. "Protego! (shield)" she called, shielding herself from most harm.

Elladora, who had little experience with dragons, slid, alomst skillfully across the room so she could get rid of some of Alice's distractions. "Incarcerous! (binding)" she yelled at a couple of them, binding them together with ropes.

As Stephy in her dragon form stood there flapping her wings and throwing wind towards Alice she shook as another shiver went through her spine. She was still getting older by the minute as Alice’s spell continued to work but the cooling down process was going slower but it didn’t stop. It only slowed down because now the spell was trying to decrease the body temperature of something so huge and that has a really high body heat temperature but the storm that was going on in the room wasn’t helping her much. She just tried to ignore the spell as it continued to work.

Just as she threw her wings back for another flap she felt some sharp pain where her wing was connected to her back. She looked behind and thanks to her long neck she was able to see what was causing the pain. There at her wing socket was a deep cut. Stephy growled out in pain and she knew right away who had caused the pain. Elladora had cursed her trying to cut her. Thankfully she was so big and had tough skin so that the spell didn’t take her entire wing off. She saw the cut bleeding but then it started to slow down. She was glad that dragons were quick healers and was now grateful that her animagus form was a dragon. If a dragon was to obtain a cut like this it might take a few days to heal whereas if she was in her human for it might take a few weeks and maybe even some stitches.

She turned her entire body forgetting about Alice and turned to face Elladora. Her movements were still slow because of the spell that Alice had used on her earlier but she didn’t care. She threw back her head and shot three balls of fire towards Elladora. She shot one behind her, one to her right and one to her left. She was hoping that she would run towards her to avoide the fireballs and then she was going to try to pick her up and go from there. All she hoped that her movements weren’t slowed down too much by Alice’s spell.
