The Moving Staircase

Rose sat down with her book shoved in her face, studying hard for the new term. She forgot where she was and tripped over the first step she came too. "Ouch!"

Alice was heading up the stairs she was in no rush and lully gagging up the stairs when she spoted a girl she stopped but said nothing. Then she relized she tripped and quikly asked "are you ok?" though she didnt really care.

Rose rubbed her head and blushed. "Yeah, fine, thanks...." she picked up her book and released her gold watch was missing. 'Hey! Where'd it go?" She began searching the ground hastily.

"were did what go what are you looking for?" Alice looked at her strangly wondering what was going on.

Rose, not looking up, muttered, "Um, I was using my gold watch as a bookmark and when I fell I guess it rolled off somewhere..."

"oh " Alice giggled "um do you need help?" she asked still giggling as usual.

Rose looked up at the girl and blinked. "Ah, sure, if you'd like to help..." Rose realized she had never met her before.

"ok so im looking for a gold watch that you were using as a book mark got it!" Alice said she hasnt done much latly and franclly she would do anything at this piont. "hey im Alice and you are!" she said bending down to see if she could find it.

Rose went back to looking. "Thanks for helping, Alice. I'm Rose."

"hey so what were you reading that you managed to be so captivated in that made you trip?" Alice asked still thinking through the idea.

Rose shrugged. "A potion's book Professor Snape gave me, since I'm his honor student. Kind of boring, but don't tell him that...."

Alice giggled not looking up "oh so you into postions then?" she asked wondering if she liked it or just was good at it.

"Um, yeah. I actually love potions, it's my favorite class, and I guess I'm kinda good at it.....oh, and it's not my favorite class because Professor Snape teaches it!" Rose didn't want that rumor to spread any father than it already had.

"oh I love tran figuration and defense aginst the dark arts!" Alice said with a smile.

"Thats cool. I like DA's too, it's a really neat class." Rose looked under a Slytherins robe, hoping to find her watch.

"jesh how far could it go you just riped it shouldnt be that far" Alice said getting alittle frusterated.

Rose sighed. "No....unless someone took it before I looked for it. Oh, my dad's gonna be mad..."

"was it real gold?" Alice asked with wide eyes.

"Yeah, it was. Lot's of my stuff is real gold...oh! Found it!" Rose quickly grabbed her watch and shoved it back in her book.

"were do you get that kind of mony?" Alice asked as she stood up.

Rose smiled at her. "My dad. He's a very successful business man. Where loaded."

"oh thats good." Alice thought for a moment "you could have a like a huge closet for just shoes" Alice was exsited over that idea.

"Oh, and I do too. Mostly converses, Vans, and combat boots, but yes, many many shoes."

"you should bye me some shoes perferly red staletoes!" Alice giggled she loved being able to joke around.

"Okay, sure, if you want some!" Rose was really bad at taking jokes literally.

"siriusly i was just joking but" Alice said tapping her chin.

"Oh? Well, really, I wouldn't mind. You helped me find my watch!"

"but i didnt find it" Alice said trying to convience her other wise evern though she did really want thouse shoes.

Rose shrugged. "You helped! Not that many people are so nice to me...."

"If you insist" Alice said giving in easily "wait people arnt nice to you but you seem nice ?" Alice said questioning.

"Okay, I'll get those to you as soon as I can!" Rose smiled. "Oh. Well, people are nice to me, sometimes, but only for my dad's money. I feel like I'm buying my friends...but since I moved here, and came to Hogwarts, I'm making friends for who I am. It's wonderful!"

"yeah hogwarts i pretty cool like that. Like i met my cuisin i never new here it was cool!" Alice said remebering that momenet. "So what is your plan for this year?" Alice asked almost running out of questins.

"Oh, really?" Rose raised her eyebrows. "How'd you figure out they where your cousin?" Rose also answered her question. "Well, I'm hoping to finish my 7th year potions class, since I've already done everything else. Witch brings me back to this book......" Rose opened it. "I don't know what I'll do next year if I finish potions this year..."

"oh well i went to the ravenclaw girls whatever u call it rooms domitory whatever but any way she came up and greated me and we talked and we got to are family tree and i figured out she was my cuisin." Alice thought about what she said "well did you ever think about graduating early?" Alice asked with a smile.
