| Part One: The Basics What is the muggle term magician mean? (2 pts.)In muggle terms, a magician is someone who has skilled in the mysterious and hidden art of magic. They have the ability to make illusions as real as possible. The have acquired knowledge, ability the attain objective. Magician has many names, which include: sorcerer, enchanter, wizard, mage, magus, necromancer, or thaumaturgist. While in the past, this may have affected the term ‘witch’ or ‘wizard’ during the Salem Witch Trail, because they were accused of Black Magic. Name 1 famous muggle magician and give breif biography. No less than 150 words. (10 pts.)Lance Burton, born William Lance Burton, is a Jewish American. At the age of five, he become interested in magic. He volunteered for a magic show for Harry Collins at a Christmas Party where his mother worked. After a neighbor found out he was interest in magic, they gave him a book with ten magic tricks, which he learned quickly. When Collins found out about his interested, he became a mentor for him in his teen years. He also performed magic tricks for the children in his neighborhood. He entered his first Magic Competition and won first prize. Also he entered Fédération Internationale des Sociétés Magiques in Switzerland and was the youngest to win a main event, along with being the first American to ever win anything in the competition. After he escaped from nearly being killed by a roller coaster during a trick, he told people that it was stupid, really stupid. Apparently, no one had ever climbed The Desperado, the tallest and faster coaster in America. While celebrating his tenth anniversary, he used $10 million in gold for a trick called Solid gold lady. Give 3 examples of where/when muggles use magic. (6 pts.)On the streets in front of ‘strangers’ Television In competitions Name 1 famous magic trick muggles always use. (2 pts)The ‘pull a coin from behind you ear’ trick Make a stpe-by-step guide on how to do the trick named above: (20 pts)My uncle and dad taught me one way, but I’m sure there are other ways to do this. First, you show the coin you are going to use and make sure you have black gloves(or any other kind that can match you long sleeve shirt) Then you tap the coin with a pencil/wand/stick/etc and count to three. You should make it look like the coin disappeared but it should be between your index and middle finger. Never should the back of your hand while doing so. Then say something along the lines of can I have my coin back. Ah! And the go to the person’s ear and turn the coin to come out from your fingers and say thank you, but all you had to do was ask if you needed money. Part Two: Magic Words Muggles use magic words to make their work seem more real, and to give it some entertainment value unlike the importance of the spells real wizards and witches utter. Little children grow up hearing these words and beleiving them to be real. But where do they come from? Please write a 50+ word essay on each "Magic" phrase. (15 pts each) Abra CadabraAbracadabra was first use as a serious incantation for cures. Like fever or inflammation. In 2nd century ad, it was first used in a poem. Serenus Sammonicus, a doctor, used it to heal the Roman Emperor who was suffering from a disease wearing an amulet with the word. But it was in the form of a cone. He said this was to rid the evil spirits if the disease over the patient. Others also used this to help the ill. AlakazamAlakazam was used by Houdini. He translated the word from Foodin to Alakazam. But now, it is one of the famous Pokémon. It stand on two leg and is part brown and gold. It is always holding two silver spoons also. They all have long gold moustaches and the females it slightly smaller then the males. ShazamA wizard who took the name Shazam was a name of acronym. It was the Marvel Family’s way of deiced the potion of powers in the family. There is no connection between the Mary and Captain Marvel in the series of Shazam, but that doesn’t mean they don’t know each other. Keeping roots in Latin in mind please create your own magic word and tell me what it does and where it comes from! (15)Sanbra is a spell made to help cure boils. It works faster then the regular spell and it less painful. Most wizard prefer the other on though because of the minor side affect. It also causes you to turn green for a week. I’m still working one a way to keep this from happening, but it won’t be anytime soon, seeing as each try I have made yet turns you a different color. But bare in mind, I will get it one day! | |
