Role Play event co-ordinator.

Okay role play event co-ordinator ws a thing that i thought up while looking at my6 old posts the other day... and i remember one thread i set up that was the prefects of each house. So there wasd a sign up thing and then first two people to post from each house were the prefects in role play for that month, (well i never chnged them due to lack of Rpers back then...)

But i was thinking mayb someone on the site could set up things like that.... like rp events, maybe housepoints could be awarded (for the bigger ones)
and you know maybe it would make rp more popular and get us more active members, well... Maybe Etta will burst when she reads this, and in addition to that i think she needs help handling the threads... there's too many posts and threads and people writing in them for poor Etta to keep up, Ettie hasn;'t been about for AGES she'd lost her sparkle my poor lil' Etta... So yes... someone to organise events in RP and then someone to help etta... cus shye needs it...

I gotta go back to class now so if i haven't got the poll up by tonight then i would like it if a mod (duckie or Elfie could put one up... thanks...)[size=n[/size]

The problem with role play events in the past where we've given out housepoints is that they're incredibly difficult to mark.

By the very nature of RP, posts stack up pretty quickly and the pages soon get into double figures... and I don't think anyone really has time to go through a 60 page thread to award points.

well maybe not housepoints then... possibly award point for the most active rper of the event?

Whilst i agree with Amy on the whole "difficult to mark" thing and reading through 60 pages ... i also like Matthews idea of events.

Yes we have them at xmas and halloween and on H.E's birthday but what if we (or just me because i don't mind) do have an event once every couple of months but under the following guidelines:

*Posts must be 10 lines at least - I think 10 lines because of the current 5 line rule, things have settled down now in the Great Hall and members are keeping to the rule (i've not had to delete posts for a couple of days now, well done RPers!) by having an event with a 10 line rule means there won't be 60 pages of posts and the more detail that goes into a post the more points etc, it also helps the RPers get used to having write longer posts and we get the 10 lines we wanted for the Great Hall (fair enough we get it in the form of an event) and the RPer's don't have to have a 10 line rule for all posts in the Great Hall so its win win for both sides.


*Base points - Say we start off by giving everyone a base points of um 1000 and should those who sign up not post they lose the 1000 points, points are deducted from the base points for say, um, not posting once per day (if we run the event over 5 days, people can get 100 points per day max if they post more than once), not keeping in character ( i mean ((doing this to talk to other RPers - thats what PMs are for!)) ), not so detailed posts eg:

"She said this."
"He said that"
"Matthew ran off with Bobette"
"Bobina is devasted to find she's not natuarlly purple."
"Hufflepuff are boring."
"Slytherin suck"
"Ravenclaw are pants."
"Gryffindor have gone on holiday"
"Elfie has ran away with Dr Who."
"Ettie is talking to herself again."

By having more detailed posts, it sets the scene and everything making it more enjoyable for readers and for players.


*Posts marked at the end of every night - this way we(or me) can keep on top of the points and posts and not lose thy head when or if the pages sky rocket to 60 pages.

*Only having Two threads - If the event was say for example, a fairytale ball, there would be two rooms only for the RP, the ballroom where the party is and the garden. That way posts can be contained and points can be easily kept track of.

And in regards to Matthew saying i haven't done much in the Great Hall, well as far as i knew i was only meant to be deleting posts which fell below 5 lines, if i should be doing more, or if i'm wanted to be doing more within the Great Hall i will, just tell me and i'll do it.

well by handling the threads i ment deleting post ect... lol it's still too much of a job for one member to do on their own Etta... you gotta admit that... voldie himself couldn't tame those rpers the way you have already done... but slip ups happen and someone new will come in and need help with the rules and one daqy there will be a 10 line rule and then you'll be back tosquare one again... so yes help...

Nah i don't need help, i have it all under control and should a new member arrive and rp and break the rules, they get one warning by PMs explaining the rules and consequences. Honestly everyone is behaving so there's no posts to be deleted.

I might be considering this, though I must warn if a RPG event is to happen, the 10 line rule will be applied and that is not opened to debate. Not only will avoid cazillion useless posts but it will also provide a solid basis for awarding points, besides improving some members imagination and let's say spelling/grammar, I dont write flawlessly you all know that but some mistakes are just too much.

So, even with the 10 line rule would you people still want a RPG event?

well I don't really RP much in the great hall. like, at all.
but if there were challenges with a 10 line minimum and points were given I'd probably participate. but even with a 10 line rule, there'd still be a lot of posts and could get pretty difficult to go through. So I guess if someone wants to take up the responsibility to go through and organize and grade them, go for it. but I doubt anyone will die if it doesnt happen since we do already have them at hollidays and special events.

and I like Etta's idea of grading it. mostly because I have no other ideas on how to figure out points. xD
