| Part I: Egyptian Dream Scrying 1.) What is Egyptian dream scrying? Ancient Egyptians were obsessed with the idea of using magic. They believed in using the power of dreams to ‘scry’ or look in upon others and having their questions answered by a voice as they slept. Methods and techniques of dream scrying have been recorded on antediluvian texts dating back over 5000 years. Other cultures, including classical pre- roman greeks, facsimiled their modus operandi, although modifying the idea and concept in order to fit their needs. 2.) How does it work? Scrying is a method of divination used to call up the images or answers to questions by means of summoning. Dream scrying is exactly what it’s name implies, scrying by medium of using one’s subconscious and REM sleep cyle. 3.) When is the earliest recording of Egyptians using this method? The earliest recording of Egyptians using this method is written on papyrus scrolls dated back to over 5000 years ago. 4.) When should you start your silence? One must cease all speech the evening of the scrying, or after the setting of the sun. 5.) What is the process used for dream scrying? Egyptian dream scrying has a very set formula, any wrong steps within it can cause major disasters for the person who invokes the wrath of the gods. On the day that you want to dream scry, one must find a place of solitude and remain completely isolated from others. It is important not to poison one’s body with alcohol or with sexual activity before beginning the scrying, it’s also pertinent to not have eaten at least four hours prior to the act. The next step in preparing oneself to scry is taking a calming bath, and then anointing one’s temple with olive oil. Any color except for red, the color of the god Set, may be worn during the ritual. An oil lamp is also required in order to begin the act. On a white strip of linen, write the name of the god that you wish to invoke, again, all gods except for Set are possibilities. Loop the linen strip into the wick of the oil lamp, and place the lamp on your bedside table. Using ink, draw the god who you wish to call to on your left palm. Light the lamp, and kneel before the it while saying the incantation: Thoth, (use name of the desired god) I invoke, blessed power of dreams divine Angel of future fates, swift wings are thine Great source of oracles to human kind When stealing soft, and whispering to the mind Through sleep’s sweet silence and the gloom of the night, Thy power awake the sight, The silent souls the will of heaven relates, And silently reveals their future fates. Then, concentrate on the question that you want answered. Wrap a sheet of black linen about four inches wide and thirty inches long around your left hand. This dyed cloth is called the black eye of Isis, calling upon Isis, the Egyptian goddess who’s tears bring the yearly flooding of the Nile. Before you fall asleep, however, be sure to have a pencil and paper or the like at your bedside table in order to record the dreams after they come to you. The dream is supposed to come in the form of a crisp and clear voice, rather than images. Sometimes the dreams come along with a cryptic message hidden within them, so take your time deciphering the dream in order to correctly interpret it. Part II: Egyptian Dream Scrying Skie clutched her hand tightly around the woven linen slip that bound her left palm. Normally, she wouldn’t turn to such crude methods of problem solving, such as Egyption Dream Scrying (mostly because it made her hungry and if there was one thing that Skie hated more than being hungry, it was being grouchy, and being hungry made her quite on the irritable side), but this time she was desperate. Grimly clearing her mind of all thoughts, but her question, Skie blew out the lamp at her bedside and attempted to get some sleep. Mercifully, after only a few minutes of tossing and turning, Skie fell into a deep slumber, her breathing even and steady, but from her dreams, turmoil began to brew. “Schuyler O’hara, you have asked to have your question answered, and I consent!” A deep, but clear and inflectionless voice resonated from deep within Skie’s mind and began to speak. “He who knows not the understandings of others is made blind to their humanity, A so called innocent, who does naught but influence others to hypocrisy. Careful for these creatures, all must be, for they are captivating Charmers of the eyes, magicians of the ear, whispering pleasantries that all wish to hear.“ The voice echoed for a few minutes, reverberating inside her already whirling head, as if for effect. Then, as quickly as it started, the voice stopped. Awaking from her dream, Skie shot up, scattering her books and blankets all over her floor, adding to the clutter that had been accumulating there for goodness- knows- how- long. Sweating bullets, Skie looked feverishly pale, but as she realized where she was and began thinking about the dream in relation to her question, a hysterical grin slid across her features, as easy as butter. “I knew it,” the dark haired girl whispered through her cold lips. “I knew it.” Sitting up with newly found zeal, Skie began relating her dream to the paper on her desk, scratching with enthusiastic vigor until she looked at the clock’s blood red letters. “3:00? Already?” Finally putting her quill aside, Skie tucked the paper beneath her pillow and fell back onto her bed with a contented smile on her face. ‘I knew it,’ she thought, as she drifted into unconsciousness. | Part One: 1.What is Egyptian dream scrying? Egyptian dream scrying is when priests and priestesses of ancient times would use scrying as an initiation. With a specific question in mind, they would perform a sacred ritual before going to sleep which enables them to dream of the answer they seek. 2.How does it work? If you have a problem or question you need answered, you can seek to the Gods to help you. Using the exact process, the question will be submitted to the Gods which they will give you the answer to in the form of your dream. 3.When is the earliest recording of the Egyptians using this method? The earliest recording of the Egyptians using this method was in the Greek magical papyri between 200 A.D and 500 A.D. 4.When should be start your silence? You should start your silence on the eve that you plan your scry. After the sun sets. 5.What is the process used for Dream Scrying? After you have prepared for the dream scrying by not talking, you must fast for at lease four hours before you can start the ritual. When you have taken a warm bath, you put olive oil on your temples and take out a short, thin strip of white linen. Using an ink with myrrh mixed in it, you write out the name of the dream God of your chosing and your question. Then you twist the piece of cloth up lengthwise and place it in the center of the lamp’s oil. You must then put the lamp beside your bed. Using the same ink as before, sketch a picture of the dream God in your left palm. When that is done, you must then light the lamp, kneel down in front of it, and recite an invocation while you focus on the picture of the God in your left hand. "Thoth I invoke, blessed power of dreams divine, Angel of future fates, swift wings are thine, Great source of oracles to human kind, When stealing soft, and whispering to the mind, Through sleep's sweet silence and the gloom of night, Thy power awake the sight, To silent souls the will of heaven relates, And silently reveals their future fates." As you pray, you must focus on your question. When finished, wrap a long piece of black cloth around your hand with the image. The “black cloth of Isis” will help the God in helping you find your answer. Now you must clear your mind and blow out the lamp as you go to sleep. Part Two: My eyes suddenly snapped open as I jerked up to a sitting position. My gaze was still a bit unfocused as I had to adjust to the complete darkness in my room. In my mind, the sunlight from my dream was still bright and shining. So vivid before in my dream mere seconds ago, it felt as though it were fading away as my eyes started to adjust to the darkness. Wait…my dream! I sucked in a breath as I squeezed my eyes tightly together as though this would help make my dream come back as my hand fumbled along the nightstand for my tape recorder. I took a deep breath as I pressed the red record button. As bits and pieces of my dream came back, I quickly started to recite the dream, wanting to get the words and images out before they went away again. “I’m in an empty field, nothing around me. But I start walking forward, even though there’s nothing for me to see, nothing for me to go to, I know that there was something up there even if I couldn’t see it yet. As I walk faster, so fast I feel like I’m flying through the field, I see a tree. But despite the warm weather, the tree was completely bare. Hearing someone call out my name, I look up, and strangely enough, perched on the very top branches is Oliver Wood! I remember feeling my stomach fall as he waved down at me and motioned for me to come up. Excited now, I started to climb as up the tree as fast as I could. But I didn’t climb up the tree as quickly as I ran through the field. In fact, it felt as though I was weighed down. And the branches and tree bark was rough and sharp as it continuously pricked my skin. Suddenly, the branch that I’ve been standing on broke and I toppled to the ground. Painfully, I stood up and tried to climb the tree again, but no matter how many times I try, I’d always fall back down. Pouting as I stood on the ground looking up at Oliver, I remember how high he looked and how impossible it seemed to reach it. Perhaps I wasn’t meant to reach him in the first place. Perhaps it was better to stay here, on the ground rather than in the clouds. Just when that thought popped in my head, I noticed the tree started to grow leaves at a fast rate. And not only just leaves, but apples and acorns too! Hundreds of them! As they grew bigger and bigger, they started to fall all around me, but none of them hit me. It was as though they fell around me instead. Picking up an apple, I looked up at Oliver again and he nodded at me. The last thing I could remember was biting into the red apple and the sweet juice ran down my chin.” Source: http://www.wiccasources.netfirms.com/_private/scrying.htm, | |
