| Part One: Inspiration A long time ago high up in the clouds of Mount Olympus, the gods and goddesses reigned supreme. Though some mostly kept to themselves, their interactions with common mortals were well-documented and publicized by storytellers such as Homer. Though it might appear that the old Grecian myths only showed gods with Muggles, the all-powerful actually often helped to inspire wizards and witches as well. Write a short story telling of one such event between a god and a wizard and include details and information about the god (for example: what they controlled, their symbols, etc.) (500 words or more). Hint: When writing, keep in mind the setting and time period of the story. For example, don't write about Floo Powder or electricity because obviously, those didn't exist yet. Though modern spells weren't invented then either, you may use those in your story; however, higher points will be given for spells that you come up with that fit with the story's setting. Minimum: 500 words Maximum: None Total Possible Points: 250 Remember to cite your sources. Be creative and have fun . | |

| In order to tell you the story of the witch Pasiphae, i must first relate to you certain facts. Minos was believed by muggles to be the son of Zeus and Europa. They took on this belief as he possesed great power and charisma. In reality however, he was a wizard with a great desire for power. In more modern times, it is entirely likely that he would have been a slytherin. Minos, in his quest for power, decreed that he was so in favour with the gods that he could control their very action. In the muggle legend Minos is said to have prayed to the god Poseidon for a sign that he should be king, however many wizard historians believe that in reality, Minos cast the imperius curse on the god to ensure of his success. Whatever you believe, Posiedon sent forth a great white bull from the ocean as a sign that Minos should be king and the people of Crete were awed by his power. In the muggle legend, Minos was supposed to slaughter the great white bull, a symbol of the water god poseidon, in the god's honor and yet Minos refused to do so and thus Minos's wife, Pasiphae, was cursed. However, many wizards are of the theory that Poseidon was merely angry about being under the imperius curse and lashed out. Either way, Pasiphae was cursed to love the great white bull and no other. Pasiphae tried desperately to catch the bull's attention (probably sending chocolates and slipping it love potions and the like) until out of desperation, Pasiphae prayed to Poseidon that he might grant her a wish and turn her into a cow so that she might finally catch the bulls attention. Pasiphae was the first animagus ever to be on record, her form being a cow, which was in reverence to poseidon, who was praised through the slaughtering of bulls. Pasiphaegave birth to a son 9 months after she achieved her animagus form. Her son has the legs of a man and the head of a bull and was named Minotaur son of Minos. Minos, being in all likelyhood the prelude to a slytherin and thus incredibly prejudiced againt half breeds, had the Cretan inventor Daedelas create a never ending maze, not unlike the one used during the triwizard tourniment, and banished Minotaur into the maze, although the reason for banishment could have been due to Minotaur's liking for human flesh. Pasiphae begged and pleaded with Minos to allow her son to live, and finally, Minos decided to kill two birds with one stone, so to speak. Every 9 years he sent 14 Athenian youths into the maze to satiate Minotaur's hunger. Minotaur later died at age 27 when an Athenian prince broke his neck in the maze. The Minos line still continues today, although there are now more modern variations such as Minose, Minote, Malos and Malfoy. | A long time ago in a small Grecian town, two young people of magical blood were truly, deeply, in love. They were always together, for any moment apart was a moment wasted. Deacon, the pride of the town, was a handsome, hardworking man whose looks and achievements in tournaments had turned many girls’ eyes to him. Astrea, the beauty of the town, was as lovely in body as she was in spirit; her kind ways had brought as many eyes to her. Astrea always said there would never be a more beautiful shade of green than that of Deacon’s eyes; Deacon always said the only more beautiful shade was that which colored his love’s eyes…and so the light debate went on along with many other exquisite little banters that marked their love and devotion to each other. The gods had smiled down on them and the town was expecting a wedding announcement any day, and the only person not looking forward to the joyous occasion was a jealous witch named Calandra. For Calandra had loved Deacon from afar, and the prospect that he may be lost to her forever caused her to call upon the goddess of love and beauty, Aphrodite.
“Aphrodite, take pity on me!” she cried one night. Wiping tears from her eyes she gazed up at the heavens, desperate for the goddess to hear. “Deacon cannot marry Astrea, you who know love knows better than to let her be with him! I am the one who truly loves him; help me to help him realize it!”
Up on Olympus, Aphrodite heard the girl’s plea. With a sly smirk on her lips she put together instructions for a love potion and sent one of her striking white swans down to Calandra with the parchment. Calandra went to work at once finding ingredients and finished brewing the potion by morning. She poured the potion from the cauldron into a jug of milk and headed up to Deacon’s home as the sun rose.
Unbeknownst to Calandra, a blacksmith’s apprentice named Eneas, who had loved her as she loved Deacon, had seen her leave her home on his way to work. Wishing to speak with her, he followed her up the path, hiding behind a bush as she knocked on Deacon’s door. When he came to the door Calandra told him she had brought him a drink, for she knew how much he loved fresh milk. Courteous as he was he took a drink and she, believing that he would be hers, grabbed his hand and said, “I do, Deacon, I do!”
“You do what?” he asked, spitting out the milk laced with potion. “You do know that this is the worst milk I have ever tasted? What did your cow get into, an onion patch? Head home, Calandra, and find out what the matter is.”
Deacon threw the jug at her and slammed the door, leaving Calandra dumbstruck and covered in spoiled milk. Hearing someone behind her she hurriedly wiped the milk from her face before turning around. Lazily leaning against a tree in front of her was the most striking woman she had ever seen; this woman’s beauty made even the lovely Astrea look plain as mud.
“That’s what you deserve for trying to break up love,” said the woman in a voice as beautiful as her face. “Only one who did not truly love this man would take away what makes him happiest, and so I take away what makes you happiest in hopes you will not be blinded anymore. Deacon will no longer tolerate you, as that potion was one to make the drinker strongly dislike the one who gave the drink. But,” she said, a tinkling laugh escaping her, “I believe there is someone right here who would feel like you do to Astrea if you married Deacon.” Eneas suddenly sprung out from behind the bush as if he had been yanked by his hair, and with that the goddess disappeared.
And so, Astrea and Deacon were married, Calandra and Eneas together, and Aphrodite had another set of instructions for a fake love potion.

| Along time ago in Athens there was a girl called Semele. A God wanted her to be his wife but he already had one named Hera. She was jealous of her husband and Jupiter so she put a curse on the girls they went to go see. Well Semele a girl that went with Jupiter was about to have a newborn. Hera was not about to let this happen. So she told Zeus to go to the girl in human form to tell her and persuade her that he was the king of all the gods. She did not believe him. So he took away the human form and showed how bright he was and killed Semele.
He put her newborn in his thigh int'ill it was time for it to be born. When the Half-god was born He was called Dionysus or what the Romans called him Bacchus. His powers were Illusion, Madness in his followers, and that was pretty much it. His first lover was Aphrodite and there son was named Priapus. They were happy but he was still wrapped around in madness so he had to get rid of it for ever but it would still be his power....
Priapus is a phallic deity. When Dionysus was afflicted with madness, he came to a large swamp which he could not cross. He was then met by two Asses and one of them carried him across the water so that he could reach a temple of Zeus. When Dionysus came to the temple he was freed at once from his madness and, feeling gratitude for the Asses he put them among the stars (Asellus Borealis and Asellus Australis in Cancer) and gave human voice to the Ass which had carried him. This Ass is said to be the saddle-ass of Silenus, a Satyr adviser and instructor of Dionysus.
Later this Ass met Priapus and had a dispute with him on a matter of physique (supposedly the size of their members). But some say the trouble Priapus had with the Ass was of another nature. He was quietly approaching the Nymph Lotis as she slept, and the Ass, by giving out an ill-timed roar. Lotis escaped and turned into the flower called Lotus, but Priapus, enraged, killed the Ass.

| Once Long Ago, the muggles were not so ignorant of witches and magick. For in the land of Greece, a Goddess of Witches and Magick Hecate was worshipped. She also ruled over tween places, and therefore may have governed the intereaction between man and fae, where traitionally they meet. She has dogs as one of her animals. As are serpents. She is proported to have invented jynxes. At any rate, once upon a time, there was a witch who lived in Greece, she was a midwife and a faithful follower of Hecate. She lived on the edge of the forest. she was considered wise if strange by some of the populus. She had strange dreams and pondered what they meant. She prayed to Apollo. Then to Hecate. Apollo sent an arrow into the ground outside. She frowned interpreting this as a sign of some sort of conflict. She was a parseltounge, and a serpent was sent by Hecate to speak to her. It tested her cunning with a series of riddles. She answered each correctly. Hecate knew their were times for mystery and times for more direct action. Her servant realized this as well. As a reward, She was warned soldiers from Rome would soon come to conqueror her land. She was asked what she would do if she could. She said she would warn her people. This pleased Hecate. She sent her a pack of dogs, which she attached to a sled given by Hepheastus. It moved so fast the sled took to the night sky. It was hard to control at first but she managed. She rode the sled pulled by the dogs and she went from home to home to warn the wizards and witches faithful to Hecate of what fate was coming. She threw a stone carved with the runes for danger, flee. Rome, comes. It made a noise awakening them. The torches also flared on, a sign of Hecate. With this warning, many escaped slaughter at the hands of the soldiers of Rome. Many of the Roman soldiers were afraid when they saw this thing flying through the skies.this also gave her people time to escape. Archers tried to shoot her but she managed to outfly them. She rewarded this witch by giving her a golden apple to make her immortal and she would send her and the dogs on the sled through the night sky whenever danger threatened the faithful. So, if you should look up in the cold winter sky, and see a sled being pulled through the air, think twice before you assume it's Santa Claus."
