The Library's Emptiness

The quiet whispers of girls mustering up gossip and secrets a few tables away from Allison irritated her oh so heavily. She slammed her book down and startled them to silence - then grabbing her book and quickly dashing towards a deserted area, leaning up against a big bookcase. Her eyes stung from the slight dust flowing around from the lack of activity in the area she planted herself. Allison sat down on the cold ground, pushing her bangs out of her face with relief, letting out a breath. It was good to have a peaceful silence, but sometimes silence is all she could hear for days on end because no one cared to talk to her. She rested her head on her knees and let the emptiness inside her chest engulf her. This is was loneliness felt like. No one understood. Allison thought that going to Hogwarts would help her develop as a person but it was almost just as bad.

Hear echoing within the library, she stood in part of the deserted isle of the forgotten library. Phoenix's eyes glanced upon each feature, she came arcross as her memory began to recognise the familar features. "Hello?" She called out into the darkness, holding her wand out in front of her; it was the only source of light available.

The sudden voice made Allison jump back into reality. There was a slight echo of a 'Hello'. She glanced around while her heart thumped loudly in her chest. Then she decided to reply back, her voice a little raspy from her tired throat,".. hello?" Her voice echoed while her eyes caught a beam of light from a tip of a wand shining at a fair distance. Normally no one would go to this area, but for some reason, someone did today.

The figure of a cloaked girl emerged from the shadows of the seemingly forgotten section of the library. The girl had her hood down for once, showing her white-streaked black hair and violet eyes. She clasped a heavy, leather-bound book to her chest. Her eyes gave the illusion that she was much older than she seemed, as if she had seen to much in her lifetime. Her long hair was pulled up into a high ponytail apart from a few locks that fell down over her face.
"Hello?" She asked quietly.

(Haha, I love how everyone is saying 'Hello?' lol)

Another 'hello' emerged from the piercing silence. Allison slowly got up from the cold floor, her hands trembling from her nerves. It wasn't a good idea to go to a deserted area of a library. Her body tensed from the fright. The sounds of foot steps began to come closer, but they were very faint and light. A hooded figure flowed into the aisle of books that Allison was in, her heart skipping a beat from a scare.

The fright disappeared when she realized that it was just another student when she and that her hood was down. Possibly the girl was just like her, looking for the other body in this area of the library.

"Hello..." Allison said more calmly, a small smile appearing on her face as she looked for the girl's eyes in the darkness. Finally, the caught the glistening of her eyes from the dim light.

"I'm Allison.." She introduced herself quietly.

Shadow looked at the other girl, observing her for a few short moments before giving a small half smile.
"Shadow." She said quietly in introduction. She held her book clasped to her chest, her violet eyes seeming to glow very slightly in the gloom.

The girl's named was quite intriguing. 'Shadow...' Allison thought, a brighter smile appearing on her face. Her dark brown eyes appeared to look black in current lighting. She looked around them and let out a sigh. She noticed Shadow's violet eyes, Allison gradually becoming mesmerized. Allison shook her head back into reality and she cleared her throat,"What brings you to this area of the library?" she stressed the word area as if it rarely to be ever spoken.

Shadow snorted quietly, turning her head away briefly before looking back at Allison.
"I'm here because this is where the librarian keeps the books of a darker nature." She said slowly, as if thinking over every word before she said it.

Allison felt a chill pierce down her spine as she heard those words flow out of Shadow's mouth. That's when it hit her - her eyes did not catch the Slytherin crest just over the left side of her chest. 'Ahh... that explains it.' She looked back up at Shadow and sent her a warm smile, "That's quite interesting. What did you need to learn about that's of a darker nature?" She responded, not really knowing what else to say. That's basically all she could really respond with without anymore slight awkwardness.

Shadow bit her lip before showing Allison the book she was holding. An ancient looking, leather-bound tome entitled 'Half Breed Intigration, volume 3: Demons'
Might as well let her know, Shadow thought to herself. The whole school knows anyway...

Allison squinted her eyes at the title, then they suddenly widened with interest. "Wow, I've never seen that book before. Seems interesting." she looked back up at Shadow and smiled, showing acceptance to the kind of person she was.

Shadow gave a small half smile.
Be glad she's not running away screaming or trying to kill you. The demoness thought to herself.
"It was in the restricted section before, but the librarian allowed me to read it." She said quietly.

"You're lucky she let you.. I heard when people asked her for some books in the Restricted Section - she immediately told them 'No' and walked away.. or people just sneak in." Allison chuckled, looking around the deserted library, a little awkward breeze passing by. "Um, care to sit down at one of the tables where.. there's more civilization?" she joked a bit, wanting to brighten up the dark mood.

Shadow smiled slightly, placing her book carefully on the tablebefore taking a seat.
"The headmaster gave me permission to access a certain few books in the Restricted Section to help me intigrate into the school." She said, her violet gaze watching Allision.

"That's understandble.." Allison trailed off into her mind with sad thoughts, but she snapped out of it and looked up into Shadow's violet eyes with a sad smile, "Don't you wish... that people won't give a damn if you're not like them? So that.. they can be your friend without caring what you are and just being your friend for who you are? It's so annoying how people can be so shallow or just.. so.. ignorant. It's.. just really a very stereotypical society these days.." she babbled, her face suddenly going pink in embarrassment. "Sorry... that just.. came out.." she laughed to herself.

Shadow's smile grew a little warmer.
"I understand your meaning. I used to have a close circle of friends, four of them, but they have moved on." She locked gazes with Allison. "I am older than I look, but I had to leave to fight a war in my own, well, you could call it a cournty if you will."

Clafin had searched almost ever inch of the library looking for Practical Defensive Magic and its Use Against the Dark Arts , everywhere except the back corners where it was kind of scary. There was only one copy of the book that wasn't checked out, and she desperately needed it if she wanted to keep the top marks in DADA. Putting her fears aside, Clafin ventured into the dark area of the library determined to find her book.
