Subject: Back To School Bash! Sun Sep 06 2009, 23:10

Elana took one last look around the Burrow Backyard, smiling. She was satisfied with her work. The Backyard had been transformed into a classroom complete with desks and a chalkboard, but it was a classroom fit for a HE party. Different colored balloons were tied to each chair, the teacher's desk was covered with snacks ranging from chocolate milk cartons to fruit snacks to apples to M&Ms, bright streamers hung down from the ceiling, a stack of presents for a later game was displayed at the front of the room, party hats and kazoos were ready and waiting...really, all that she needed was a few guests! Antsy, she stepped up to the chalkboard and took a piece of chalk between her fingers. Standing on tip-toe to write in big letters, Elana wrote out a welcome and signed her name. That done, she grabbed herself a handful of goldfish and a chocolate milk and sat down on a desk to wait for the first guest.

Clafin walked in slowly. She still hadn't gotten back on the right sleep schedule for school. She looked around and saw Elena she nodded towards her and yawned as she waved her greetings. Clafin continued to look around. The Backyard had changed completely. She grabbed her stomach and sighed in relief as she saw the desk covered in snacks. She looked at the chalk board and read what it said. She practically dragged herself to it and followed the directions it had written upon it. Slowly, she wrote as neatly as possible when half asleep. Turning her attention back to the snacks, Clafin grabbed a two packets of fruit snacks. She then turned and sat next to Elena. "Hey girlie." she said as she began to nod off. She shook her head and looked up in efforts of waking herself up as she opened up her first packet of fruit snacks.

"Hey Clafin!" Elana exclaimed. "Glad you could make it!"

The Gryffindor grabbed a snack and sat beside her. In a moment she began to doze. Elana chuckled, munching on her goldfish until Clafin jerked awake with a start. Elana patted the girl's shoulder, smiling empathetically.

"Long first few days of school?" she asked. "Me too, so tough adjusting to the schedule each year! Getting up to a blaring alarm, packing a lunch, driving out to school...No, no!" Elana reached back towards the food-desk and snatched a few party hats. "Depressing back-to-school out - excited back-to-school in!" She gave one of the hats to Clafin and put the other one on the desk, pulling out her wand. After a number of muttered spells and some elaborate wand-waving, she smiled, satisfied, and popped one of the hats onto her head. Instead of the plain sunshine yellow that it had previously been, the hat was now looking a bit like this. She secured the ribbon under her chin and grinned.

"Your turn," she said. "It can be whatever you want, as long as it makes you happier about school! On second thought," she continued after a moment's pause, "doesn't have to make you thrilled to be back at school, but just to make you laugh. You'll have more fun if you do!"

Erika flung the pair of Coke Bottles into her arms and took a deep breath before leaving into the hall way and onto the Party. She never was the "party type" but always did her best to be alive and talkative. It would take her awhile before she really got into the swing of things. She balanced one bottle so she could open the door and kicked the piece of wood, perching it open. As she turned into the room she saw a face she recognized. "Hiya Clafin." She said smiling; she turned to see if anyone else was in the room.

"Oh..." She corrected, "Hi Elana!" Realizing that she missed the person who organized the event. The room was nicely decorated, streamers falling from the ceiling. Erika threw down the pair of bottles and stretched out her arms.

Clafin nodded at Elena longer than she realized before answering. "Yeah, I am too!" she tried to make it sound a bit more energetic. "It's not that the days have been long...I'm just not used to waking up at 6 in the morning yet." she said loudly. "I'm the kind of person taht would sleep through a whole year if they had the choice." she finished through a laugh. She watched on as Elena continued to make her little hat morph. She looked down at hers after seeing what Elena had done to hers. "A little bippity-boppity-boo magic eh?" she joked as she began pulling out her wand. She looked down at what she was wearing, trying to make it the hat match, if possible. She murmered a few spells and looked down at the <a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_r0-r_45IkC0/SPlLJ9sMJeI/AAAAAAAACGU/6j4ra-ccZ6A/s1600-h/formal+cocktail+hat.jpg">final product</a> in great satisfaction. "That should do." she said through a smile as she looked back up at Elena and placed the hat on top of her head. She blew the peacock feathers out her eyes, and giggled. Moments later, Erika walked into the room, but Clafin couldn't stop laughing. She finally managed to wave toward her.

Erika laughed as she saw what the two of them were wearing. "Nice hat...” She smiled, holding her hands on her hips. "I suppose I should make one too..." She grunted, taking out her wand. She threw out a few random spells, bouncing off the yellow hat and almost slicing a desk in half. With a determined Humph! she took one deep breath before conjuring another. Atop her head appeared a giant flamingo that rose several feet into the air. Holding it up with her hands to balance the weight, Jona started to laugh. With one hand she managed to make sure it didn't fall as she sat down at one of the desk. Not only was Elana's crazy hat idea funny, it made her day almost making her forget she was back in school.

"Eurgh, I know. Early, early, early!" Erika made her own hat beautifully and Elana laughed along with her. "Lovely hat, Clafin!" she praised as Erika walked in. "Hey Erika!" Elana said, eagerly waving her over. Erika, catching sight of Elana and Clafin's gorgeous creations, proceeded to make her own rather unique one. Giggling again, Elana reached up to pet the soft pink flamingo. "Very nice," she said, beaming. Now that they all had a hat, Elana realized that she'd have to entertain...and then she remembered the stack of presents!

"Oh!" she exclaimed, hopping off of the desk. "I have something for you two!" She trotted over to the presents and picked up two. She handed them to the girls, saying, "They're not much, but it wouldn't be the start of a new school year without some new things! Enjoy!"

Jenn skipped into the back to school bash with a giant beaming smile on her face. Of course because she was excited to come to the party but also because she was hoping that Elana wouldn't be too annoyed with the fact that she was late to her party. Spotting Elana with Clafin and Erika, she halted on her steps and tiptoed into the corner of the room and sat down at a nearby desk. As she whipped out her wand, she muttered a soft spell making the chalk letters appear on the board.

Then Jenn grabbed a copy of Witches Weekly and held it over her head as she let out a loud yawn. "Oh there you are Elana!" She commented as she pretended to look surprised. "I must have fallen asleep and not noticed when you guys came in. I have been sitting here waiting for ages and ages..." A mock disgruntled frown crossed her face.

Hearing Jenn's voice coming from the other end of the room, Elana whipped around, perplexed. Her expression changed from one of confusion to one of disbelief by the end of Jenn's story. Sure Jenn, sure :D She rolled her eyes, grinning, glad her friend had come. "How awfully tragic, dear. Here," she said, pulling a present out of the pile, "this should start to make up for it. For all of your editing and revising dreams." She lightly tossed the present to Jenn. "Oh, and you must make a hat, it's all the rage...here." Elana walked over to the desk and picked out a bright purple hat for Jenn to make her own. She threw it out to her, then said, "You know, you could pick out a desk up here so we don't have to keep throwing you things. Might get a bit messy if we try with juice or crackers."

Rose glanced in the room through the tiny window. She saw a few other students, and took a deep breath. It was still a few minutes until class started, so others would be arraving soon.
Holding her books tightly to her chest, and wiping the sweat off her brow, Rose opened the door and snuck into the classroom. She placed her belongings down on her desk, and walked over to were the others were. "Hi, Proffesor!" She piped up, smiling at Elana. She noticed the chalk board, and wrote down her answer under the others. This year was her last, and she wanted to make the best of it. But of course she wanted to study hard as well and make the best grades possible.
She took some goldish and popped them into her mouth. Rose leaned against the wall and turned her attention to the others. "Clafin, Jenn, Erika! How have you guys been?"

Erika smiled warmly, taking the present from Elana. She held the box in her hands, shaking it lightly before unwrapping. She carefully undid the box and stashed it in her pocket. She had a strange obsession with Ribbon no one could ever explain. She must've had twenty dozen ribbon roses she'd crafted. Inside the box was a clean set of yellow wood and a case. She hugged Elana, "Thank you Proffessor." She laughed, "But I'm afraid I don't know how to use these.. Do you ink them? Like a quill?" She picked one up, looking at the sharpened edges. A peice of black graphite sat inside. She held it like the Feather Quill and slid it across the desk. A fine black line appeared. "OH!" She pulled out her wand, biting her lip made it disapear. Besides the pencils, Erika really liked her case which was decorated with yellow flowers. One of her favorite colors.
