The Capture of Rita Skeeter

Subject: The Capture of Rita Skeeter Wed Aug 11 2010, 14:18

Okay, so this has always confused me a bit. On the last page of the chapter entitled The Parting of Ways it says:

Quote :: There was a loud slamming noise, and Mrs Weasley and Harry broke apart. Hermione was standing by the window. She was holding something tight in her hand."

and then in the chapter The Beginning (Page 631 in the UK edition) Hermione says:

Quote :: I caught her on the window-sill in the hospital wing.

Which obviously is the reference to the slamming. Now does this mean that Rita witnessed everything that happend in the room including the appearance of Sirius? And all the plans Dumbledore assigned such as contacts placed inside the Ministry as well as the names of those contacted in the Order?

If she did, are we to assume that Hermione's threat of exposing that she is an animagus kept Skeeter quiet?

Unless the window was closed I guess...then technically she wouldn't be able to hear anything but she would still have seen Sirius appear and know that he was an Animagus.

Thoughts anyone?

It's possible that Hermione blocked Rita's sight. She pulled the jar out of her bag later yes? Maybe she put Rita in there where she couldn't hear/see at all.

Hahha, I guess so, but she didn't catch her until after the whole conversation with the Order so would she have just been waiting for her to get close enough to catch or something? confused

Well I think the whole part was Herminone to keep Rita quiet by telling everyone she was an animagus. If people knew she was one than they'd know how she was getting her information and would probably put up spells to keep her out ruining Rita's career... even though it got ruined when Hermione told her not to write really lol

I don't. But even if she had it wouldn't have mattered by the time she could talk again so meh.

How good is a bug's hearing anyway? Can they hear things?

I'm certain bugs can hear things. Wouldn't they rely on their hearing to make it in their buggy world. This is when I turn to google lol
