Alexandre Desplat's Score

I thought I'd start a little discussion on Alexandre Desplat's score...I thought he did a fantastic job on all of the music.

I've heard some complaints about there not being many of the old HP themes but I didn't mind that very much. It does appear in his score just in a very subtle way which I was perfectly okay with.

Someone also was saying how the music was not always as "loud" as they thought it should have been such in the Snatcher chase scene but that's usually a director's decision not the composer so I don't think that should be held against him.

I loved his pieces (espicially Obliviate, Snape to Malfoy Manor, Rescuing Hermione, Farewell to Dobby and the Elder Wand)

I think The Elder Wand stood out a lot in the movie and made the ending super epic. LOVED IT. xD

I just wanted to say that I was even more impressed with his score for Part II than Part I.

Lily's Theme, Courtyard Apocalypse, Neville the Hero and Statues were ones that I thought were particularily strong but the whole score was simply amazing. And the cello solo in Severus and Lily makes my heart break....Not to mention I loved the shout-out to John Williams at the end by using the same music from the first.

They were playing it in the movie theatre - like, actually playing the score throughout the place! It was fantastic, I loved the music so much. I want to see the movie for a third time just to appreciate it some more in context!

I think you make valid points, Katie!! It did strike me a lot more in part II than part I, too.
