| I never really get that excited about Christmas (I'm of the opinion that it is too commercialised). But I enjoy the food at my grandmother's (not the other grandmother's... not so nice there lol). The food part of Christmas I like, a lot - we generally have my grandma's devilled eggs, mum's rice, potato salad, regular salad, roast pork, turkey, leg of lamb on a spit... it's all very delicious. My family always has problems buying me presents 'cause of my tastes - they're fleeting and too specific for my family to know, lol, so I get money! And with this money I buy awesome stuff I want like books (New Seer of Sevenwaters book by Juliet Marillier. Awesome author!) and saving for the holiday I'm going on in December :D No snow on my Christmas. It will be hot and stuffy and too sunny. We will have the airconditioning on and all of us will be in singlets and shorts Traditional Aussie Christmas. | |

| Yay someone finally posted! lol Well to comment on what you said I think I would like there being no snow for Christmas. it's too cold and wet and is accompanied by ice. XD I wouldn't want it to be sweating hot either. Fall temperature would be nice. lol
Now onto mine. I love how Christmas went when I was younger. We would go to my grandmothers house and i would get to see all of my relatives. My Grandma would than have ham for us all and she made great food. Especially her homemade bread. It was to die for!
However Christmas have changed since than. We now go to my other grandma's house and she has a little dinner for us. it's just my family and my grandparents, This year however my Aunt and cousin will be there but not like before, with the whole family.
As for presents on Christmas Eve we have a tradition to open each others gifts. My brothers always gets too excited with this. We open these presents before we go to bed but they feel like they should be opened right that second. So all day they beg and whine until it's time to open them. than the next day on Christmas day we open the stuff from Santa which we all know isn't a fat man riding around on a sled to give us presents lol. Mom usually gets me books or something electronic. She knows me so well XD One year I got money like Mel did. It was nice but I'd rather get presents. It's much better. i love opening a present more than having money and going to buy out something myself. It's just fun :D but that's me and mom knows what I like... for the most part XD.

| Awww, I don't think I'd like a hot Christmas. I like the cold Christmas where you can open up your presents by the nice hot, cozy fire. Christmas is my absolute favorite holiday. I love the cheeriness and how you can't walk into a shop without hearing holiday music and pretty decorations. My family is a bit Christmas crazed to be honest. xD We always get our Christmas tree the day after Thanksgiving from a Christmas tree farm near by and get all of our decorations up around the house (which there are many of). I used to get a mini-tree for my room but this year I couldn't. Like stephy, we have a little routine to our present openings. xD On Christmas Eve we all get to open up one present of our choice before we go to bed which is always tons of fun because we try to scout out which present to open first. Then in the morning we start by opening all of Santa's presents before we have breakfast. After we eat pancakes, waffles and cinnamon rolls *gets hungry just thinking about it* we open the presents that are under the tree. We also always bake these special cookies from my grandmother's recipe and decorate them with frosting and sprinkles and such before Christmas that are addicting. I think one of my favorite parts about Christmas is the Christmas Eve service my church has. It's late at night and it's super fun and touching and it's a tradition for all the members to light candles at the end and go outside of the church and sing Silent Night. I love it. I LOVE CHRISTMAS. =D | |

| Awe I want a breakfast! lol We don't have food in the morning at our house because no one really eats in the morning. We're all weird I know. We get a lunch though so we just starve ourselves until lunch, head up to my grandma's and stuff ourselves to death with Ham and Mashed Potatoes. We MUST have those potatoes. No meal is complete without them XD
Haha I remember one year where there wasn't any snow on the ground Christmas day. There was some on Christmas eve but it melted by the next day. than the day after Christmas it snowed again. So no white Christmas that day, I didn't mind. It was muddy but it was warm :D

| I agreed with Katie, there's nothing better then opening presents in front of the fire lol.
When i lived at home we had the same tradition, one present before bed, then we'd take our stockings to bed and place them on the bottom of the bed for Santa, hey we liked to try and get a glimpse of the mystery dude you know, so about 2 hours after going to bed one of us (me and my 2 brothers) would wake up, realise santa had loaded our stockings and would sneak across the landing to the other's bedrooms and wake them, then we'd huddled on my big bro's bed (he had a king size!) and very quietly (more like loudly but we tried our best to be quiet) open the presents in the stocking, then we'd fall asleep and wake up on christmas day, trudge downstairs, open our main presents off Santa while Roger the family cat would play in our discarded boxes (i have a photo of him somewhere sitting in a Action Man box one year lol) then it would be breakfast and wait for my mum and stepdad to get up then it was under the tree time ah that was fun, between 3 kids and a cat who lived in the tree every year was a nightmare for the parents, we made sure it was haha. I always wrapped my presents to my family in a roll of paper, a roll of sellotape and about 30 bows, they'd sit for ages trying to open their present from me and the first person to give in and get the scissors had to wash the christmas dinner dishes hehehehehe
I miss those times. Now i'm lucky to get a present to put under my half murdered tree, i guess not living at home and being with your family kinda takes away the christmas excitement, i always loved christmas, but these last few years its just been another day and i guess i lost my love for it. I still put a tree up but thats mainly for my 4 cats, well 3 cats and a kitten who is having his first christmas and is mesmerised by this 3ft white tree with bouncy branches and none runaway balls lol.

| Though it is a few hours late I finished this! I would have done it sooner but dad used up all of our data usage. *glares at dad* lol. I hope you all like it!
Ah it’s this time of year again and the site is filled with Christmassy events and talk. In the Pensieve towers our very own members discussed their Christmases and the traditions they followed. I sat in the corner (well tried to but ended up fighting with the Pixie the whole time) with a parchment paper and a quill at the ready. Here’s what I heard while trying to bat away the Pixie who for some reason likes to torment me.
The first thing mentioned was the food. I cowered under the couch quickly making a list of what the Pensieve members said while the Pixie hovered above waiting for the right time to attack.
“The food part of Christmas I like, a lot - we generally have my grandma's devilled eggs, mum's rice, potato salad, regular salad, roast pork, turkey, leg of lamb on a spit... it's all very delicious.” Mel said while filling out a crossword. She crossed out ten words before finishing that sentence.
“We always bake these special cookies from my grandmother's recipe and decorate them with frosting and sprinkles and such before Christmas that are addicting.” Katie says as she starts to zone out thinking about the cookies. I make a quick note to ask for some later.
I than darted out from under the couch, had my hair tugged and now thanks to the Pixie I have a tiny bald spot on the back of my head but I managed to get safe ground under a nearby desk and continue on taking notes. The Pixie hissed but I ignored her and said “Well what does everyone do on Christmas? Any traditions?”
One thing that seemed to be common was opening at least one gift on Christmas Eve, usually gifts from one another before heading off to bed waiting for Christmas day to arrive. Finally we would get to open the good presents from Santa!
Etta comes in telling us about how her and her two brothers would try to stay awake, wanting to meet the jolly man dressed in red only to fall asleep and wake up the next day. I know me and my sister would do that until the year she found out Santa wasn’t real, than ruined it for me by showing my parent’s bathroom covered in wrapped gifts. I was crushed but figured either way I still get gifts. “I always wrapped my presents to my family in a roll of paper, a roll of sellotape and about 30 bows, they'd sit for ages trying to open their present from me and the first person to give in and get the scissors had to wash the christmas dinner dishes hehehehehe” Etta says laughing menacingly. I make a small note reminding myself that if I receive a gift from Etta I would be sure to have scissors nearby.
Mel still working frantically on her word search with five other ones fully completed leaving me amazed at how many she can do speaks again, not taking her eyes away from the many d’s, f’s, o’s and thousands of other letters that litter the page. “My family always has problems buying me presents 'cause of my tastes - they're fleeting and too specific for my family to know, lol, so I get money! And with this money I buy awesome stuff I want like books”
Ah money at Christmas. This only happened for me once. I got a few presents and a little bit of cash to match the amount of money it cost that the spent on my other siblings. It was nice of them and gave me some extra cash to use next year when I went on a buying spree for my friends.
Katie says finally joining the conversation again “I think one of my favorite parts about Christmas is the Christmas Eve service my church has. It's late at night and it's super fun and touching and it's a tradition for all the members to light candles at the end and go outside of the church and sing Silent Night.” Then she shouts “I LOVE CHRISTMAS!” causing me to jump and bang my head off of the desk I’m hiding under. The desk toppled over and soon I was trying to bat away the menacing Pixie. However don’t worry I got away, if I hadn’t than you wouldn’t be reading this. A few nights in the Hospital Wing and I’m almost fully back to normal. I’m still missing that little piece of hair.
The year is coming to an end and soon I’ll be watching the tv to watch the ball drop, and I’ll come up with some new year resolutions only to break a few days later but I look forward to Christmas and shoving my siblings away from the tree trying to get to all of my gifts first. So with that I wish you all a Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays.
