Placing a Link in a Post

Okay, I looked around, and didn't see this question answered anywhere so hopefully I didn't just miss it.

I was wondering how to post a link to an assignment. I know that when you make a post there is a insert a link button, and I have used it successfully before, but how do you change the wording of the link? For example, if I want to link to this page I am currently on, I use the link button and it makes this link:

http://hogwarts-experience.heavenforum.org/post.forum?mode=newtopic&f=14

but the problem is, I don't want all of that text in my post to show. I just want the link to say [url]new topic[/url] instead. How do I change that and still have it link to the right place?

I am asking this because of the student-a-holic thread. I noticed that everyone was posting links to their assignments, but the links were appearing as one or two words, not the entire web link.

There are two ways you can do this.

The first way is to use the link button in the toolbar above the message body. The first space with the picture of the link is for the actual web address and the second line is for whatever you want the text to say (circled in red):



The second way is to just type out the code (it'll be the same as pressing the bottom) but the code is:

Code:

[url=*insertwebadress*]*inserttext*[/url]
Ex. [url=http://hogwarts-experience.heavenforum.org/post.forum?mode=newtopic&f=14]New Topic[/url]

And then it'll look like this:

New Topic
