| Aphrodite is a Greek Goddess who may have started the Trojan War. It started when at a wedding the Goddesses started to fight over a Golden Apple with the Greek inscription “for the fairest” on it. It was decided that whoever could win Paris, a young Trojan's, favor would receive the Golden Apple. By Hera, Paris was offered to rule the world, while Athena would make him victorious in battle. Aphrodite saw the true whims of the youth and offered the love of the most beautiful woman in the world, Helen of Sparta who was married to the King. Paris gave the Golden Apple to Aphrodite who awarded him Helen’s hand in marriage. And thus the Trojan War began. | |

| <center> </center> <center> She's one of the most important goddesses in Greek Mythology. In Roman Mythology, she is known as "Minerva". Athena sprang full-grown and armored from the forehead of the god Zeus and was his favorite child. He entrusted her with his shield, adorned with the hideous head of Medusa the Gorgon, his buckler, and his principal weapon, the thunderbolt. A virgin goddess, she was called Parthenos (“the maiden”). Her major temple, the Parthenon, was in Athens, which, according to legend, became hers as a result of her gift of the olive tree to the Athenian people. She is also known as "Goddess of Wisdom". </center> | |

| <center> </center> After the overthrow of Cronus, the world was to be divided between Poseidon and his brothers (Zues and Hades). Poseidon is the Greek God of the seas, earthquakes, and horses. It is said that Poseidon was quite moody, and that when he grew upset he would strike the ground with a trident causing horrible storms and earthquakes which killed many. He lived lavishly in a large palace on the sea floor made entirely of coral and gems. Poseidon was also notoriously known for his many love affairs, the most famous of which being with his sister, Demeter. Poseidon lusted after Demeter, who did not return the feelings. In attempt to buy herself some time, she asked him to create the most beautiful animal in the world. After many attempts, he created the horse... but by the time he had finished, his love for Demeter had died off. Poseidon is an essential God in Greek mythology. | |

| Prometheus was one of the Titans. He was said to be the wisest of the Titans and was able to see the future. When Zeus led the revolt against Cronus, Prometheus defected from the Titans and joined sides with Zeus. He was also credited with the creation of man (with the help of his brother, Epimetheus). He became known as the protector of man, and among his many gifts to man was fire that he stole from the gods. He also tricked Zeus into letting humans keep the better part of the animal for themselves and sacrifice the worst part to the gods. Zeus punished Prometheus by chaining him to a rock and everyday making an eagle eat his liver. He was supposed to be chained to the rock forever, but Hercules rescued him. | |

| This banner is one of Hephaestus, one of the 'ugliest' gods, who lived not on Mount Olympus but rather in it. As the god of Hearth and forge, he had cyclopes who helped assist him with his work. His wife was Aphrodite, though she was often unfaithful. He eventually caught her cheating on him with Ares. His injury came from when he was a child, where his mother, Hera, disgusted at the child she had wrought, threw him off Mount Olympus. Other stories state that Hera, who had birthed him alone without her husband, had him flung from her by an angry and jealous Zeus. | |

| Camelot is the castle and court associated with the King Arthur myth. It has become a permanent fixture in the Arthurian legends. First mentioned in the 1100's, Camelot has since become a staple in the romances of Arthurian legends. Typically described as surrounded by plains and forests, standing alongside a river, it holds the cathedral St Stephen's, and is the religious centre for King Arthur's Knights of the Round Table. The castle is where many of the legendary Arthurian heroes centered their lives. King Arthur and Guinevere were married there, many tombs of ancient knights and kings exist in Camelot, and it was there that Galahad conquered the Siege Perlious. It is also where knights had visions of the Holy Grail, and swear to find it. Source: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Camelot | |

| Aphrodite, Goddess of Love. For sure one of the most known Goddesses and Gods of Ancient Greece. Also one of the few who could still have followers in these living days, I mean Valentine's Day all about cupid and love, but really it's all about Aphrodite's influence. In that one day her influence descends on all the lovers and worshiping love is actually worshiping her. I won't bore you all with the details of her Myth (a ladies men, taking her to this and that man) since that would require way more than a simple paragraph, but I'll leave you with one interesting "fact" Aphrodite is actually one generation older than the almighty Zeus. | |

| Hi! That link isn't working for me to see it, but it's not as hard as you might think to put an image up here. When you go to reply, you should see a button that looks like the one circled in red below. If you click that, a screen like the one below should come up. Click the "choose file" button (circled in red) and select whichever file you need to upload, then click the "Host it" circled in purple. Now another screen should pop up with three different links. One will make a thumbnail (small version that opens to be big when clicked on for if the picture is very large), one is the code for the actual image, and one is the actual link for the picture. Click "copy" of whatever version you want, and then paste that into the reply box. If you ever need to upload more than one picture in a single post, just click that "upload" button (circled in green) and it will take you back to the "choose a file" page! Hope this helps! | |

| Athena is goddess of war and wisdom. I picked her because I'm wise like her. I don't like war, but I see the importance of it. Athena was a very wise goddess. that was as big as it would appear. I made it to size, so i don't know why it's doing this | |

| Athena, Goddess of WisdomThe banner represents Athena, the Greek goddess of wisdom, war, the arts, industry, justice and skill. She was the favorite child of Zeus. She had sprung fully grown out of her father's head. Her mother was Metis, goddess of wisdom and Zeus' first wife. In fear that Metis would bear a son mightier than himself. Zeus swallowed her and she began to make a robe and helmet for her daughter. The hammering of the helmet caused Zeus great pain in the form of headaches and he cried out in agony. Skilled Hephaestus ran to his father and split his skull open and from it emerged Athena, fully grown and wearing her mother's robe and helmet. She is the virgin mother of Erichthnonius. Athena and her uncle Poseidon were both very fond of a certain city in Greece. Both of them claimed the city and it was decided that the one that could give the finest gift should have it. Leading a procession of citizens, the two gods mounted the Acropolis. Poseidon struck the side of the cliff with his trident and a spring welled up. The people marveled, but the water was as salty as Poseidon's sea and it was not very useful. Athena's gift was an olive tree, which was better because it gave the people food, oil and wood. Athena named her city Athens. Athena's companion was the goddess of victory, Nike, and her usual attribute is the owl. Athena possessed the Aegis. Source: Wikipedia | |
