| It's time to make some popcorn, grab some drinks and head over to your television because HE's Second Movie will be How to Train Your Dragon!
In case anyone is wondering how this is going to work, here's some general information that's important to know.
First, you're of course going to need to find a copy of the movie (netflix, blockbusters, pretty much anywhere) and find a time to watch the movie; the sooner the better so we can get right into the discussions.
Then, all you need to do is check out each of the discussions and add any points you have, respond to others, ask questions, anything to spark discussion! The categories are below with some things to look out for to help start discussion.
Set, Scenery and Location (Animation): Pay close attention to the amount of detail that has been placed in every scene and location. Though it's animated, there's an incredible amount of detail that can be found. Take note of impressive scenery, detail of the nature or characters, and the little things that you wouldn't normally look at.
Sound Effects: As an animated movie, sound effects are a huge part of the movie; things that are normally taken for granted (background noises) must be specifically placed in every scene. Especially when it comes to nature scenes, there are many sound effects you might miss at first glance. Also, as there are dragons in this movie, be sure to pay attention to some of the sound effects.
Costume Design: For this category, anything that goes into costumes (which includes hair, or designs of the characters since it's animated) goes for this discussion. So take the time to look carefully at each character's costume for anything you might want to discuss. Yes, the design of the dragons do count for costumes.
Memorable and Forgettable: This discussion is for things in the movie that really made the movie amazing or things that you really wish hadn't been added in. So just be sure you don't forget those scenes that really had an impact on you!
Story and Script: We all know the story and script of a movie is one of the most important parts, so anything you really liked, or didn't like about either of these things can be put in this discussion. Be sure to look out for any litte references that really reflect the time period, ect.
Cast and Acting: Keep an eye on the cast and acting in the movie. Did the cast seem to fit each of the roles? This discussion is for this exact purpose, so anyone you have strong opinions about should be mentioned (amount of emotion, role in the movie, how well they depicted that role).
Music and Score: The music and score is something that is often taken for granted of in a movie, and not noticed. For this discussion, pay close attention to times when the score reflects the actions on the screens or contrasts the actions. Also take note of variations of main themes and the use of any instruments that may be special to the film.
General Chat: As the title of this category suggests, there are really no restrictions to this discussion. If you have any questions you want answered or have specific comments about parts of the movie that don't fit into the other categories, this is the perfect place for them!
You may want to have a piece of paper with you when you watch the movie so you can jot down some ideas so that you can't forget something you wanted to say! The discussions will remain open for approximately a month before we begin the next movie. Remember, the discussions are graded based on what types of new points you come up with or how you add to the discussion, not necessarily how much you post. As soon as you've watched the movie, you may begin posting in the discussions.
Have fun and enjoy the movie! | |
