The knight bus has mysteriously broken down in front of a old, haunted mansion. Of course, this was the first time the knight bus had ever had any kind of problem. It seemed the site of the old place was tampering with the magic that the conductor was attempting to use. “No worries! No worries, we will have this fixed in a jiffy!” he shouted, scratching his head with a puzzled look. Unknown to them, a boy was staring out the window from the fifth floor, glee written all over his face. He had a new victim. His eyes went to a certain girl. He giggled softly, spinning around the room. “We have a new victim!” he sang, gliding out of the room as fast as he could.

As he went through the walls of the house, he heard the others laugh just like him. Of course, there was one who made no sounds at all. Little darling Susan. She had died a tragic death of course. The ghost could all tell you that. “Why so down Silly Susan?” asked the boy, knowing the answer. Susan, crossed her arms, gliding from the room herself. The boy shrugged, let out another laugh of evil and made his went through the door. “MURDER! THERE HAS BEEN MURDER!” he shouted towards the people at the knight bus.

Ethel wanted to growl at the people on the bus - their voices had risen to an annoying cadence and she was beginning to get a headache. At her wits' end with the conductor - who still happily shouted "No worries, no worries, will be fixed in a jiffy!" to no real avail - she stepped off the bus for some fresh air.

Now Ethel wasn't one to back down from any kind of fight - her mother had been a Gryffindor, even if Ethel was Sorted into Ravenclaw - but there was certainly an ominous feeling that permeated her body when she stared up at the house that the Knight Bus had broken down in front of. The cracked paint, missing windows and shattered glass certainly did nothing to instill a sense of goodwill. The huge house - more of a mansion, it had at least five floors - looked long abandoned.

Her knees nearly knocking together, she thought that she could see the pale luminance of a ghost in one of the windows. Frowning, because she was after all a Hogwarts student and was accustomed to the presence of ghosts, she hugged her arms closer to her torso. There seemed to be a chill in the air, unnatural in the dead of summer.

It was then that a voice cried out, "Murder! There has been a murder!"

Ethel stared at the house - for that was where the voice had shouted from. She stood, frozen, wondering what she should do. Looking back, no one on the Knight Bus seemed to have heard the voice. Was she imagining it? Was the house not as abandoned and empty as she had first thought?

Drawing her wand from her sleeve, Ethel held it at the ready (even though she was still underage, she was sure that the Ministry would forgive her some basic self-defense magic) and slowly approached the giant double-door entryway of the house.

Her skin peppered with goosebumps, Ethel knocked on the door as firmly as she dared.

"Hello?" she called out, through the wood. "Is someone in there?"

Susan stared from her room, glaring at the boy, who was a poltergeist, as he tried to get the girl to come in. Susan just rolled her eyes, gliding towards the attic as the girl, who was clearly underage, came towards the house with her wand out. “JOSH! SHE IS UNDERAGE!” Susan yelled, listening to him giggle and shout with glee. Of course, he knew that, which would make this a lot better. Sometimes, Susan wished she had stayed at Hogwarts, instead of this horrid place with her brothers and sisters.

Josh, who was waiting for the girl, pushed some shelves down and started screaming bloody murder. “NO STOP THE PAIN!!!! MY SISTER IS DEAD!!” he shouted, a smirk placed on his face. He was on the third floor, making it harder but easier to trap the girl. “PLEASE HELP!” he shouted more, coughing. If that wasn’t believable, he would be in amazed. He heard the girl say ‘hello’ and he rolled his eyes, coughing more. “Please...miss….help….” he shouted, his voice going out. Susan glared, gliding around the room.

“You are horrible, Josh,” she whispered, watching as her brother, Gald, started laughing at the spiders going crazy around the room. With her nose turned up, she made her way back to the attic, knowing her voice was no longer needed. Gald started to rile up the doxy, getting them to fly around the room so the girl would have more problems.

“OH NO! MY LEGS!” Josh screamed, the glee in his eyes resembling fire. Gald just laughed, wondering if there was a boggart in the house to ruin this poor girl’s life. Unknown to them, Susan was trying to figure out how to help the girl without being caught. Of course, she knew it would be impossible, but she would try all she could to help.
