Subject: Xtmas Quidditch Revival Challenge Sat Dec 08 2012, 08:44

First, for those who don't know how to play Quidditch in HE, take a look HERE!

Second, I don't expect to have a full team, much less two, so here is how it's going to work.
People will start posting, greeting each other and say if they're playing in each other's team or against each other (or even if they want just to be the referee!). As soon as there are two opposing teams, the game can start. Remember to always post which team you're on and your position! Also remember RPG rules and good manners and respect each other and each other's posts!

Points will be decided in the end after analyzing how this game fared!

Amber got up early, excitedly pulling on her new sweater. It was a Christmas sweater and a referee sweater! The best of both worlds. The red and green stripes flashed between, in a happy pattern that made her giggle if she stared at it too much. Putting on her hat and gloves, she skipped down to the quidditch field to find that she was the first one there. Well good, referees should show up early. In the olden days, she probably would have found herself on a team, getting ready and being super excited to kick some butt. Now, she was more content to just be at the game and watch the action.

For the moment, she decided to go up and do some practice laps around the stadium while there wasn't any game in progress. So, she hopped up on her broom and flew through the air, sighing in happiness. It had been far too long since the last time she'd flown like this.

Jenn scurried up the stairs and out the door toward the quidditch field as fast as her feet could take her. Which, unfortunately, wasn't really that fast. (She received too many chocolate frogs in her stocking this year. But waste not, want not! Or however that muggle saying was.) Still, Jenn had planned to arrive earlier, but she had taken the wrong staircase and gotten lost in the dungeons for a while. Strangely enough, once she entered the room, the door faded right into the wall and prevented her from finding a way out. She suspected that this was probably Raist's new idea to keep new and old members at the school. Not exactly ethical, but when has he ever been bothered with that kind of stuff?

Muttering a little spell to keep her hair out of her face, Jenn gripped her broomstick in both hands. "God, I hope I'm not too rusty." She blew the dust off her tattered handle and grimaced. "Although, I wouldn't be surprised if I fall off within five minutes."

At first, she thought she was the first one there, but she soon spotted someone zooming around the field, looping in and out of the hoops with ease. Jenn squinted against the sun and could barely recognize Amber since she was flying so fast. She pursed her lips together and let out a sharp whistle to get the other girl's attention. "Never mind, three minutes would probably be more realistic," she muttered to herself as she waved.

Amber zoomed around on her broom just allowing herself to have the feeling of flying around. It was a feeling that she hadn't had in far too long. She'd been too busy to just fly like this and later she'd have to be paying attention to the game. A part of her wondered if she'd done right by not being a keeper for this special game, like she'd used to. But she was well aware that this really was the better choice for her.

She was suddenly pulled out of her thoughts as she heard a sharp whistle, glancing around and spotting someone that looked a bit like a blur at this speed. Slowing down she headed in the direction, grinning as she saw that it was Jenn of all people.

"Jenn! Shut the front door! I didn't think that I'd see you out here today," she said. Truth be told, she didn't know who she had expected to see out here today.

Stephy wondered over into the Quidditch locker room for the Ravenclaw house. She looked around at the many lockers that lined the walls and on them were names of past quidditch players. There amongst them was her own locker. The two positions Stephy ever played for Ravenclaw was Chaser and Beater. It had been a long time since she played Beater and knew her Beater days were behind her. Many years of break from Quidditch made her weak and many times she had issues just opening fridge door at her muggle parent's home. So the Chaser position was the one she decided to stick with for this reunion match. There was no way she still had the strength to bat away the beaters let alone aim them at other players during the match. Stephy was excited. Once again she would be out in the air on broom, playing the one game she loved so much.

Once she was outfitted in her Ravenclaw Quiddtch attire she made her way out onto the pitch. The cold air made her shiver and reminded Stephy just how much she hated the freezing temperatures. Stephy squinted up into the sky and above her and there was already a few members out. Throwing her leg over her broom, Stephy kicked off of the ground and rose up high into the sky.

"Hellos Amber and Jenn. A beautiful day for Quidditch don't ya think?" she giggled a little ready for the match to begin. "Which position you guys playing?"

A half grin crossed Jenn's face at Amber's comment. "Yeah, I know. This was kind of a spur of the moment decision last night. But I figure, the new year's coming so I might as well try to get back into shape!" She leaned a little closer and tiptoed up to whisper to the other girl, "By the way, do you happen to know a spell to get rid of mothballs odor? Not that it's for me or anything. I was just curious." She shifted back and forth on her feet as her left hand rubbed the side of her quidditch robes against her hip, making sure to stay downwind of Amber. xD

Before she could answer though, someone else arrived. It was stephy in her spanking sparkling blue robes that was freshly iron pressed in the way that screamed house elves. Jenn nearly smacked her forehead in annoyance. Why didn't she think of asking the them for help with her robes? Guess there was a reason stephy was a Ravenclaw. Those smarties.

"I'm probably just going to be a Chaser. To be honest, I've never tried playing any other position," she said with a shrug. Well, technically she DID, but it didn't turn out well at all. Best to block that disastrous day out of her memory. "What about you guys?"

Amber smiled as Jenn admitted that it was a spur of the moment decision that had brought her out to the field today. Well, good, there could always be use of some more oldies around. She never saw enough of them, especially not lately. Though, now that she thought about it, Qudditich would probably appeal most to the oldest members, who had experience with it. "I'm glad you made it out," she told the Hufflepuff. Raising her eyebrow as the other girl continued on to ask about moth balls and thinking for a moment about if she did know anything that could help. "I remember a spell to change the scent of things... but Merlin help me, I can't remember it at the moment."

She was torn out of her attempts to do so as she heard another voice join the conversation. "Stephy!" she said in surprise. Well, French the Llama, oldies were turning up after all. Maybe Rai had been right about bringing back some Quidditch action. So far it'd lured three people here and she was sure that the Fluffybear himself would probably come along soon enough.

Listening to Jenn answer Stephy's question she wasn't surprised in the least. For as long as she'd remembered Jenn had been a Chaser. Good for her. She had no clue what position Stephy would be playing, since the other girl was known for trying out different things. Oh well, she'd find out soon enough what position the other girl would be playing.

"Oh, I'm not playing," she answered after Jenn was finished. "Those days are long past for me. I'm going to be the referee today! It's why I got here first, I wanted to make sure I arrived before all the players to get myself familiarized with who was going to be on what team." Gesturing to her sweater, she showed off the red and green stripes. "I even dressed for the occasion!"

Stephy listened as the two stated thier positions. She was a little surprised that Amber was just going to stay as a referee. She was expecting her to take part in the match.

"OOoo nice sweater!" Stephy exclaimed as she took it in. Not only was it great for refereeing but it was also Christmasy. "Oh I decided to stick with Chaser. It has been a long time since I was a beater. I'm afraid I might have lost all my muscle from many years of doing nothing" she giggled.

Stephy reached into her Quiddtch robes and found there was a hair tie still in there from when she used to play for the Ravenclaw team. She pulled her air back to keep it from blowing into her eyes and blocking her view. She would need to be able to see everything around her to play her position well.

"I do hope to see more familiar faces but some new Quidditch players would be cool too." Stephy commented. "Would make the game more interesting. Hopefully it starts soon." she added growing excited. "Are you going to be making us into teams Amber? Or should I be expecting dear old Headmaster to?"

[The ever famous Ravenclaw Chaser--who wants me?!? :D]

A little smirk curled at the corners of her lips as she stared out onto the Quidditch pitch she had spent so many years playing on. Such a long time ago--it was almost, almost a faded memory--but not quite. She had spent many years in this spot watching her friends fly through the air, playing the game she loved more than anything. With her broom resting against her shoulder, her old friend, she prepared to march out onto the field taking a deep breath.

Dressed to perfection in her Ravenclaw Quidditch uniform, Lily took her first steps onto the snow covered pitch as the sun cascaded down against her porcelain features--today was a great day for a christmas quidditch game. A sprig of holly adorned her hair as it was pulled back into a severe ponytail. Proceeding to mount her broom, Lily shot up into the sky, the crisp air blowing in her face. She felt like she was floating as she circled her own friends and waved proudly.

"Jenn, Stephy, Amber....miss me?"

There was laugher in her voice as her scarf fluttering in the wind behind her. Holding onto her broom, she pulled up slightly as it followed her every command, circling up and round and back again. That laugher echoed happily--she never felt more happy than when she was playing quidditch with her friends nor could she ever truly shake the streak of competition that always assailed her when she found herself immersed in a game.

"Surprise my darlings! I figured I'd make this interesting. How's it going?

As the trio was chatting away, Stephy heard a familiar voice behind her. Turning around she saw another Ravie dressed in the similar Quididtch robes as she was. Stephy almost screamed as she flew over to Lily to give her a giant hug.

"Lily's here!" Stephy screamed as she released Lily from the hug. "Course we missed ya! How could we not! It's so good to see ya here especially for a Quiddtch match. Haha bet you're super excited about this reunion! You're one of the best Ravie Chasers!"

Jenn nodded at Amber and stephy's responses. "I considered being the referee too. But I guess you not playing should be a good thing for me. I definitely don't want to play against you. Either way, this game should fun though!" she said, agreeing with Stephy.

Getting caught up in the other two girls excitement now , Jenn touched the top of her broomstick and it started to twirl her in circles. A bit too quickly though. Her dark hair whipped on either sides of her face, but she didn't mind. Even though she knew she was rusty, she was glad she decided to come out today. It was great to see everyone again and the weather was absolutely gorgeous. "By the way, love the sweater! It's so festive."

Feeling a little dizzy after a while, Jenn quit the twirling. Her quidditch robes stopped flopping around her legs at her sudden movement. Someone else had just arrived, but who was it--ah, Lily, of course. Arriving with her usual flair. "Course we missed you, Lily. It wouldn't be a qudditch game without you."

Amber smiled brightly as Stephy complimented her sweater. "Thanks," she replied. It was pretty awesome if she did say so herself. Laughing a bit as the Ravenclaw made the joke about losing her muscle from years of doing nothing, prompting her to decide to be a chaser instead of a beater. Unsurprised when Jenn admitted that she'd also considered the idea of being the referee. Jenn would have done her job probably better than she was going to. It was interesting though, to see that the first two to arrive would be chasers, although she hoped that some other people would get here soon enough to play some other positions. Hopefully newer members would decide to try this out too and mix amoung the older members to create a stronger feeling of unity.

"Agreed about newer players. We'll have to have some more people show up before we can start the game though," the Gryffindor Head of House shrugged before continuing on. "I am definitely not making you into teams. It was not in my job description. I'd imagine that our Fluffybear will be taking care of that once he decides to grace us with his face."

She turned as another voice joined the scene watching in a bit of surprise as none other than Lily came about and waved to them after circling around the small group. "Lily!" the ref exclaimed in shocked surprise before adding to herself, "This is oldie central." She pushed away a piece of hair that had blown into her mouth as she nodded slightly. Maybe Rai should have brought back Quidditch long ago if it was going to bring back so many old faces. She was starting to feel a slight dread that none of the newer members would try and take this up. Exclusion wasn't part of the holiday spirit. Watching Stephy give Lily a tight hug though, she was glad to see that people were finding their way back. It made her feel a few years younger to see such familiar faces from so long ago.

"I must say, I am quite surprised," she admitted to the Ravenclaw who had once been a top Quidditch player. "I'm glad that you made it back though!"

Suddenly there was a huge bang to the side of the pitch. fireworks splayed all over the ground, twisting and turning around the players already on the field. A bright white light followed causing a little commotion both on the pitch and in the stands. Christmas music blared out from nowhere as a bunch of purple hippos raced around the pitch - all holding dancing signs saying 'hippomas forever' and 'she is NOT a christmas elf!' and other such words of nonsense! The ground quaked and a loud rumble filled the ears of everyone around and as suddenly as it all began, it vanished. The music died, the fireworks fled, the white light dissipated and the purple hippos...well they stopped dancing around the pitch but didnt go anywhere (I mean have you ever tried to get rid of a heard of purple hippos? It is not an easy feat, just ask the headmaster - I would tell the story though that is really one for another time!).

There was silence. A confused silence, and among the confusion stood a lone figure dressed in purple. A purple Christmas hat upon her head and a broom in her hand which was flickering with Christmas lights. She looked around her silently, confusion etched on her face which slowly turned to something else. There was a deafening silence around the pitch until she spoke - her voice louder than anything they had ever heard before...

"WHERE IS THAT TRAITOROUS SLYTHERIN WHO CALLS HIMSELF HEADMASTER...AND WHO HELPED HIM BANISH ME INTO THE DEPTHS OF THE CHRISTMAS CAKE FOR ALL THIS TIME!!!"

When no one answered immediately, Elfie Dumbledore grinned and said...

"Well, what are you all waiting for...this is a quidditch game is it not?"

Raistlin was deeply immersed in his writings inside his chambers when suddenly strange sounds reached his window, the one that was directed toward the Quidditch pitch. Getting near the window he could see some strange purple and white lights at the entrance of the game field.

"Who's the fool that is making all of this commotion... VISÃO MÁXIMA (Maximum Vision)!" as soon as the Headmaster finished casting the spell, his eyes began to magnify his vision like he was in possession of a very powerful telescope. What he saw the rose the serpent and anger within him.

"HELL-TO-THE-NO! Finite incantatem!" Turning away from the window, he could still see the dancing purple hippos in his mind while he searched his wardrobe.

"This!" holding some very dark green robes he quickly changed into them, then turning on the spot he quickly dissaparated from his offices to the Quidditch pitch (perks of being HeadMaster, he was the only person who could apparate and dissaparate within the castle and its grounds).

"WHERE IS THAT TRAITOROUS SLYTHERIN WHO CALLS HIMSELF HEADMASTER...AND WHO HELPED HIM BANISH ME INTO THE DEPTHS OF THE CHRISTMAS CAKE FOR ALL THIS TIME!!!"

The words of the former HeadMistress were still resounding when Raistlin made way into the pitch, his flowing cap showing a silver serpent entangled in a beater's bat.

"I am here fallen one. And no one helped me banish you, you tripped and fell into my trap like the clumsy Elf you always were." Raistlin gave emphasis to the word elf. With a flick motion of his hand a broom and a bat burst from the locker-rooms into his hands.

"And you will see my powers have grown since you've been away. I no longer need to trap you to tame you, but alas. I shall leave our battle for another time. Now it's time for Quidditch and for me to kick ass... and some bones." The evil grin on Raistlin's face would have chilled even the happiest and perkiest of persons, Stroking his dark polished bat and his top of the line broom, he finally took to see who else was there.

"Well, well... some lost children have returned to us I see, let's just hope they're not rusty..."

Hoping into his broom, he kicked the ground and soared into the sky. Spotting his deputy head and her referee sweater he said "We seriously need to do something about your sweaters obsession but for now will you care to divide us into teams? Oh and while you're at it you can be our commentator too. Be quick because if you don't I'll release bludgers soon, teams or no teams."

The HeadMaster finished the sentence with his usual evil laughter and too to fly around the Quidditch pitch, feeling the wind in his hair, the weight of his cape lashing behind him, manoeuvring his bat so as to warm his arms muscles. He was ready to battle.
