I sat under the bridge that claimed your life. The ice that caused the car to careen off the edge was gone, replaced by flowers, green grass, and an unfrozen river. Today is the first day I had the courage to come, I’d been driving the long way to home each day. Eyes closed, I imagined the sound of your voice on the wind, like a stab to my heart, too painful to bear. I opened my eyes, expecting the pain to dissipate, but that’s when I saw you, standing there on the river bank. That was the day when I first met your ghost.
