The band Bon Jovi was formed back in the 1980s, when wild hair was the fashion thing. John Bon Jovi whose real name is actually John Francis Bongiovi; formed the band
and its name back around 1983. The other members included in the band are Richie Sambora, Tico Torres, David Bryan and Hugh McDonald that replaced Alec Such.
Also another member not really shown much in the spotlight is Dave Sabo.

The band's from New Jersey and started off playing in small clubs and pubs.With just Jon and David starting out they had a hard time getting into the spotlight.
They contacted friends and family members. At first they thought they were gonna make it big but after a few demos they didn't quite make it. Then came two other mebmers Alec Such and Tico Torres. They all banded together to creat the group. But they still had no direction in which way they were going.

Some of their songs really bombed and they found themselves stuck in a few financial situations.
But then in March of 1983, Bonjovi was officially formed. Bon Jovi opened for the band Scandel. Scandel was a group that was well meshed together and had a harmonic sound that caught Jon's ear. They also intrigued the band's record executive, Derek Shulman who signed them up with PolyGram.
Bonjovi was on its way, but the road ahead was to be anything but easy. Their debut album "Bon Jovi" was released in January 1984; and went gold. It was a hit.It sold over 500,000 copies and paved the way for the band to hit the big time.

They were now opening for the Scorpions, ZZ Top and Kiss in Europe and were making their way.Bonjovi was about to make more albums and sell more than they ever dreamed of.
