| I have chosen to do this essay based on my Care of Magical Creatures homework. For this essay I am going to write about all the mythical creatures off Lord of the Rings. Ents: Are Shepard’s of the Trees and Guardians of the forest. Have mostly lived in Fanghorn forest and only awakened for the first time in ages in the War of the Ring. All Ents hate being hasty and hate anything that brings fire or axes to their forest. Ents would be counted as an endangered species because the Entwives have long since left and Saruman burn a lot of Ents to fuel Isenguard. Ents are large in size and look like trees except they can move and talk, their strength was very helpful during the War of the Ring because they could pick up objects easily and stomp on enemies. Balrog: Live in the dark of the Mines of Moria. They are Demons of Shadow and flame, they are covered in flames and cloaked by shadow. It is of the dark lord Morgoth that they were created. Balrogs are mantled with wings of fire and large strong arms. Which carry weapons such as the whip of fire and sword of shadow. They can easily trample anything that attacks them or gets in their way because of their huge size. Dragons: The most famous dragon in Tolkien’s writing would have to have been Smaug from The Hobbit. Dragon’s are covered in scale and breath fire. There tales and back are covered in spikes and have large fang like teeth that can penetrate anything. There large wings extend and they can fly very fast and have sharp claws which can rip anything to shreads. Most dragon’s weakinesses are their underbelly where the scales don’t grow. Fell beast: Fell beasts were in the Lord of the Rings, usually ridden by the Nazgul and used as a weapon. They are black and their skin is made of hide. almost like a dragon but they have a long neck and a beak. Their wingspan is larger then a dragons and they also have teeth they can shread anything to pieces. Trolls: In Lord of the Rings there are many different types of trolls. But they can all run, throw and swipe with great strength. They usually have no neck but a large bald head that stretches down to their large torsoed body with great arms and stubby legs. There are: Hills trolls as seen in ROTK and cave trolls seen in FOTR and olog hai used in the battle at Pelannor fields. Trolls are used for different perposes such as war drumming and used to pull or push things or are armed with clubs. Spiders: Spiders are mentioned in both The Hobbit in Mirkwood and Shelob in ROTR. Spiders are usually of an abnormally large size and are armed with poison which can freeze the body. They usually have large fangs and long scuttling legs, their tip is at the end of the abdomen and they lower themselves on their victims. They use their sticky cobwebs to roll up the bodies which they feast on later. Spiders can run quite fast and have the advantage of being able to scuttle on anything. http://www.tuckborough.net/creatures.html | |
