The Muggle Movie Industry – Part 1 (To me, it’s ‘film’, but how could I resist the alliteration?! The Muggle Movie Industry - Part I 410894)

From the soundtrack to the lighting, the cast to the crew – there are many other things that make a film what it is. However, it is, in most cases, the acting which brings the film to life. Each actor carries the burden of making their character believable and likeable/not likeable.

Your task in Part 1 of The Muggle Movie Industry is to pick two of the following:

David Tennant (sorry, couldn’t resist The Muggle Movie Industry - Part I 410894)
Johnny Depp
Alan Rickman
Matthew McConauhey
Brad Pitt

Two of these: (i.e. two actors and two actresses)

Julie Andrews
Emmy Rossum
Judi Dench
Keira Knightley
Catherine Zeta-Jones

and write about them. Okay, to be more detailed:
- what they have contributed to the film industry
- what, in your opinion, their most famous on-screen appearance was and why
- how many awards they’ve won and whether you think they deserved them

It is up to you whether you want to include more, or just give a detailed analysis of the points I’ve already given.

The maximum amount of points for this is 100, and it should be written in at least 500 words.

(Part 2 coming after your lovely Professor gets back from holiday... :D)

-what he has contributed to the film industry:He has contributed many girl fans because of his charm and good looks(which I dont agree with.)
-what, in your opinion, his most famous on-screen appearance was and why?Id have to say The Pirates of the Caribbean because that is the most recent appearance and because its made more in the box office than any of the other films he has appeared in.
- how many awards he's won and whether you think he deserved them?
Johnny Depp has won 7 awards and here they are

1995 - London Critics Circle Film Awards - Actor of the Year - Don Juan DeMarco
1994 - MTV Movie Awards - Best On-Screen Duo - Benny & Joon
1990 - ShoWest Award - Male Star of Tomorrow
I think he has deserved all the awards but not because of how sexy girls think he is but how hard he has worked to deserve them.

- what he has contributed to the film industry?he has contributed millions of dollars in the box office because everyone wants to see him perform?

I think he has earned every one of them because he is a very talented and hard working guy who can play many different kinds of roles.

Two of these: (i.e. two actors and two actresses)
1.Julie Andrews
- what they have contributed to the film industry? She has contributed life and love to many people who have watched any of her movies.
- what, in your opinion, their most famous on-screen appearance was and why?In my opinion her most famous on screen appearance was Mary Poppins because many adults and kids alike have been touched by her advice. Also everyone enjoyed her singing and dancing and are still her fans today.

I think she has deserved every one of them because she has inspired adult and children alike to do better things and she is so filled with love and life there is no reason she shouldnt win any of those awards.
2.Keira Knightley
- what they have contributed to the film industry? She has contributed lots of people especially guys to watch all the action thrillers she has starred in.
- what, in your opinion, their most famous on-screen appearance was and why?I think her most famous on-screen appearance is Pirates of the Caribbean because thats when everyone gets to see her act like a pirate with all those other guys which give her a great movie star image.
- how many awards she has won and whether she deserved them? She has won 1 award and that award is British Newcomer of the year at the London Critics Circle Film Awards.I think she deserved the award because she just cane out of nowhere and she is really pretty and talented.

Muggle Movie Industry, Part 1.
1st Actor - Johnny Depp
Q1) What have they contributed to the film industry?
Johnny Depp has contributed a mass of things to the film industry. He has not only starred in many movies, but has the ability to connect with an audience. From his days on '21 Jump Street' to Pirates of the Caribbean, Depp has transformed himself into many different and quirky characters. As a young teen, Depp focused on him music career, appearing in and playing in an array of garage bands, the most famous being The Kids. As his band struggled, Depp's first wife suggested acting. He tried it, and was landed with a role in 21 Jump Street. His acting career started and not much longer Depp had been critically acclaimed as a truly talented and magnificent actor. Depp has not only been an actor though. He has directed and now has his own directing company. Depp has contributed a great mass to the film industry and I believe will continue to do so.
Q2) What, in your opinion, their most famous on screen appearance was and why
I think Johnny’s most famous on-screen appearance is Pirates of the Caribbean. Many people, when they think of Johnny Depp, think of Edward Scissorhands, but Pirates is the movie that has catapulted him back to fame after his disappearance from the movie world in 2002. When he did return, it was with Pirates of the Caribbean, and he shot to fame once again. Although Edward Scissorhands comes a very close second.
Q3) How many awards they’ve won and whether you think they deserved them
Johnny has won:

2005: Kirriemuir Award- Finding Neverland
2006: Ub Iwerks Award- Corpse Bride
2006: Sony Ericsson Empire Awards- Best Actor- CATCF
Yes, I do believe Johnny Depp deserves these awards. He hasn’t just starred in these film, he has connected with the audience. All of his films have been acclaimed and praised by critics, fans and other actors. Johnny Depp has contributed a great mass to the film industry and deserves all the awards he gets. He truly is an inspiring person.

2nd Actor- Brad Pitt
Q1) What have they contributed to the film industry?
Brad Pitt has contributed a lot to the film industry. He has produced many inspiring characters and has been named ‘worlds sexiest male’. He has been in a range of films, and has also contributed greatly to the salaries of the paparazzi, due to recent goings on with female actor Angelina Jolie.
Q2) What, in your opinion, their most famous on screen appearance was and why
In my opinion, Pitt’s most famous on-screen appearance would have to be Mr and Mrs Pitt. When people think of Brad Pitt, they think Mr and Mrs Smith, Angelina Jolie, Jennifer Anniston and very sexy male.
Q3) How many awards they’ve won and whether you think they deserved them
Brad has won:
1993: ShoWest- Male Star of Tomorrow
1995: Golden Globes- Best Performance by an Actor in a Motion Picture, Drama – Legends of The Fall
1995: MTV Movie Awards- Best Male Performance- Interview With The Vampire: The Vampire Chronicles

1996: MTV Movie Awards- Most Desirable Male- Se7en
1996: Academy of Fantasy, Science Fiction and Horror Films- Best Supporting Actor- Twelve Monkeys
1996: Golden Globes- Best Performance by an Actor in a Supporting Role in a Motion Picture- Twelve Monkeys
1996: Sci-Fi Universe Mgazine- Best Supporting Actor in a Genre Motion Picture- Twelve Monkeys
1997: Blockbuster Entertainment Awards- Favourite Supporting Actor, Science Fiction- Twelve Monkeys

2004: Tenn Choice Awards- Choice Movie Actor, Drama/Action Adventure- Troy
2005: People’s Choice Awards- Favourite Leading Man
2006: MTV Movie Awards- Best Fighting Scene
Yes, I believe Brad deserved all of these awards. He is a dynamic actor and is mainly recognized only for his looks, this I feel plays against him, but he can act and has proven it many times.

1st Female Actor- Julie Andrews
Q1) What have they contributed to the film industry?
Julie Andrews has contributed a great deal to the film industry. She has made us laugh, cry, weep tears of joy and has played some truly inspiring and delightful characters. She has graced the big screen with her presence in many films, and has connected with her audience in a way most actors only dream of doing. Julie’s filmography include the world renowned The Sound of Music and Mary Poppins. Julie has not only acted though, she has sung everything her character sing in her movies, and with a voice like hers, who could blame her? She is someone to be admired through the ages, and a person one can only wish well.
Q2) What, in your opinion, their most famous on screen appearance was and why
I think that Andrews’ appearance in The Sound of Music is her most famous yet. Almost everyone alive knows about it and it, alongside Mary Poppins, are what really gave her her big break.
Q3) How many awards they’ve won and whether you think they deserved them
Julie has won:
2001: San Sebastian International Film Festival: Donostia Lifetime Achievement Award
1993: Women in Film Crystal Awards: Crystal Award
1983: Hasty Pudding Theatricals: Woman of the Year
1983: David di Donatello Awards: Best Foreign Actress, VICTOR/VICTORIA
1982: Golden Globe Awards: Best Actress in a Leading Role-Musical or Comedy, VICTOR/VICTORIA
1973: Emmy Awards: Outstanding Variety Musical Series for The Julie Andrews Hour

1968: Laurel Awards: Female Star
1967: Golden Globes Awards: World Film Favourite – Female
1967: Laurel Awards: Female Comedy Performance, THOROUGHLY MODERN MILLIE
1967: Laurel Awards: Female Star

1964: Academy Awards: Best Actress, MARY POPPINS (1964)
1964: Golden Globe Awards: Best Actress in a Leading Role-Musical or Comedy, MARY POPPINS (1964)
Yes, Julie definitely deserves all of these awards, the is someone we all admire and deserves whatever praise comes her way. Such an inspirational character should not be deprived of the merit they deserve. Cheers to Julie.

2nd Actress- Keira Knightley
Q1) What have they contributed to the film industry?
Keira has contributed to the film world, brilliant performances and a notable and reliabale leading actress. She has brought us many awe inspiring performances and continues to stun us with the characters she plays. She hasn’t been around for long, but from the movie’s mad, we are able to tell that she will definitely become one of the most dominant actresses in Hollywood.
Q2) What, in your opinion, their most famous on screen appearance was and why
I think Keira’s most famous appearance would have to be as Elizabeth Swan in Pirates of the Caribbean. The movie was a huge success and all starring actors were critically acclaimed. Although famous before her role in Pirates, the movie shot her to even further stardom and that is why I believe it is her most famous on-screen appearance.
Q3) How many awards they’ve won and whether you think they deserved them
Keira has won:
2002: Bordeaux International Festival of Women in Cinema -Golden Wave Award- Best Actress- Bend It Like Beckam
2003: London Critic’s Circle Film Awards ALFS- British Newcomer of the Year – Bend It Like Beckam

Yes, I believe Keira deserved these awards because she is a hard working actress who has delivered brilliant performances and will most likely continue to do so for quite a long period of time.
