Any Chatroom Problems - please post in this thread

I know that this has been asked but I couldn't find it in the recovery forum so I'm forced to reask it here. I keep trying to get into the chatroom but it keeps saying error refusal connection. I don't understand because I don't have a pop up blocker and I've went on the chat on this laptop before...It's just recently like the past two weeks it wouldn't let me...help me amy!! lol

and let me just say I have been very sad these past few weeks without the chatroom lol

Well Jenn, I've been to the help chat and they think it's something to do with firewall.

If you are behind a firewall, they said to set it so it allows port 6667. If this doesn't work, try disabling your firewall temporarily, or setting it to allow the chat URL.

lol sorry but I have a slight problem with the chatroom again. Lol for some reason it takes a long time for the chatroom to connect when I log in. Hope you could help!

Does it actually connect you or is it just not connecting at all?

when I login the bottom it says connecting but it never connects it just says its connecting for a looong time...

I've sorted this issue by using mIRC to connect to the chat instead of the applet, but I found that it ran incredibly slow in Firefox.

Problems included:

• Crashing at load screen.
  
• Crashing at connection screen.
  
• Sometimes taking up to a minute for text to display after being typed.
  
• Frequently changing to CAPS for no apparent reason mid-sentence
  
• Frequently omitting the first half of a sentence for no reason.
  
• Sometimes taking up to two minutes for text to display in chat area, once submitted.

I overcame this problem by using the popular chat program mIRC (http://www.mirc.com). The server details for connection below, in case anyone is encountering the same issues that I was.

Server: irc.ircstorm.net
Room: #The_Hogwarts_Experience.
Nick Registration: /msg nickserv register password email.

my story. I go to go chat and nothing comes up. NOTHING!! It makes thiss beeping sound then the screan frezzes.

I've never had any problems getting into the chat, but I would suggest going with mIRC, as Castledown mentioned, if you do.

Download and install the program, open it and enter the details Castledown gave above and you'll be able to connect to the chat that way.

Why is the chatroom being all screwy?

I've just gone in now and it's working fine. It's possible there was a slight server glitch but without more info of what went wrong I don't know lol.

well, it's working for me fine now. but when i went in this morning, the place where you put your username and the place where you put your password were switched, the chat thingy was white instead of blue, when you typed in your password, it would show the actual password instead of **********, and it never connected me all the way to the chat. it would say 'connecting' and then just stop.

Hmm that's odd. I'm guessing it was just a server glitch, as it seems to be working fine now.

Let's hope it doesn't happen again

hmm ever since yesterday, I can't get into chat. I could yesterday in the morning and then since then I can't get on on IE or Firefox, I have checked my firewall and it says I should be able to get on.

Try clearing your cache.

What exactly is happening? Is it not loading? Or is it loading and kicking you out? Are you getting any message along the bottom (where it usually tells you you are connecting via port 6667)?

Well it just won't load, like this little red x in a box shows up, you know like the kind where you can't see pictures.

Hmm...that sounds like it could be your java. Try updating your java by going to the java website and downloading the latest version.

I actually did that this morning, I got the newest one and its still not working

Did the chatroom problems start before or after you updated your java?

before I updated my Java, actually they started yesterday evening

Can you do me a printscreen of what happens when you load the page/try to log in?

Hmm, OK, I'm going to ask the support people.

Which browser are you using? If you're on FireFox, you could try Internet Explorer, or vice versa!

Its absolutely free and doesnt take long to download

You need to go to profile>>>signature and post the link to the picture there between the code .
