1. Explain in your own words, who exactly is doctor who? (the character not the actors)
The Doctor. An elusive time traveller who pops up in many moments of known history. The Doctor is a from a planet not of our solar system called Galifrey in the constellation of Kasterborous. He flies through time and space in his Tardis with a variety of companions.

2. When was the first ever doctor who shown on television and who played the doctor? (3)
The first Doctor was played by William Hartnell in 1963.

3. Name 3 writers that have written episodes for Doctor Who over the years? (3)
Stephen Moffat, Terry Nation and Robert Holmes.

4. What is the TARDIS? (10)
The Tardis is the doctor time travelling spaceship. It gives the appearance on the outside of a blue police box. It is bigger on the inside than on the outside and its rooms include a dressing room, a swimming pool and a Library.

5. Explain the process of regeneration? (10)
The process of Regeneration is a biological process all time lords go through if badly hurt, close to dying or if their current human form is old. Each new doctor has to rest after his regeneration as the process can take a while. The regeneration idea was hatched when actor William Hartnell's health started to deteriorate in the forth series of the original 1960's programme. Regeneration was originally called renewal and was created so that the role of the doctor could be re-cast easily.

6. What is Torchwood and when was it originally mentioned? (10)
Torchwood was created in 1879 by Queen Victoria after coming face to face with the Doctor when caught up in a 'Werewolf' attack in the 'Torchwood' house in Scotland. The werewolf in question was actually an alien using the body of a local boy in order to bite Queen Victoria. The Queen thought the doctor an enemy after the whole battle and founded Torchwood to always fight the doctor whenever he returned to earth. We re-visit the torchwood institute in the three part 'Army of Ghosts' episodes in 2006, where the company, now occupying a skyscraper in Canary Warf, held the Doctor prisoner and took his Tardis, stating 'If its Alien, Its ours.'

7. Describe the original battle between the timelords and the dalek's (10)
The Last Great Time War. The Timelords verses the Dalek's in a battle the ended in the destruction of both races by the Doctor. The Doctor thought he was the only remaining timelord until he came in contact with the Master in season 3 of the new Doctor Who. The origins of the time war are said to date back to the Doctors 1st meeting with the Daleks in 1975, 'Genesis of the Daleks'.

8. What was the very first episode of doctor who called? (2)
An Unearthly Child

9. Who is the most recent doctor and in what episode did he first appear? (2)
The eleventh Doctor is played by Matt Smith and he first appeared as the Doctor in 'The End of Time'

My favourite doctor was David Tennant. I liked him because he really took the doctor as his own character. He was funny and he was the Doctor when I was a kid so I grew up with him.[/hide}
