What did happen to ollivander? why did he vanish? is he dead?

I think the deatheaters either got to him and took him because voldemort wants another wand so that what happened in the graveyard wont happen again OR he fled due to his belief that the death eaters would come to him

what do you all think?

I think that either of your ideas are plausible, but did Voldemort know about his and Harry's wand being brothers? I can't remember...

I think that if he didnt know he would have guessed after what happened. If he hadnt, maybe that could be a reason why voldemort wanted him? to find out why?

That's a good point, I hadn't thought of that. I don't think that Ollivander's disappearance is unimportant though - hopefully we'll find out more about it in book seven.

The other thing is, Voldemort might not only want to force him to make a new wand, but a powerful one - perhaps with some of his own blood? I dont know if this is relevent - just a thought i had

I think they took him so he would not be able to equip members of the order of the phoenix and new students with the wands that may eventually use to bring Voldemort and his followers down.

He would also be useful in equipping Voldemort with a new wand where Harry has Voldemort's old wand's brother. Voldemort probably realized the connection and knows Harry's wand is no match against his.

Yea, I agree with the new wand for Voldy so that he can kill Harry. But that doesnt make since becasue Ollivander says that you cant do as great wrok with another wand as you can your own... sooo.... wil his new wand work if he gets one?

No new wands for the good guys and new wands for Voldie and the DE's - both theories seem possible to me. Nevertheless, as Katie pointed out, you have to have your own wand to achive best results. I believe it is possible to get a new one to suit you just as well if your old one is broken, for example. I just think it would probably last much longer to try them all out - so imagine how long it would take for Ollivander to do the right one, because he would have to look for another matching core (and maybe this would have changed the final proprieties of the wand so he would have had to search also for another wood). Even supposing Voldie tried all the other wands that Ollivander had in stock at the time of capture - there is still nocertainty of succes among those ones, as it probably is pretty tricky to find a wand for such a powerful wizard.
Well, to make my clear point: Voldemort wouldn't have liked to kidnap Ollivander just for waiting another looong period of time for his new wand, because the Order would become active in the meantime.

Ooor, new idea: do you think Ollivander might be able to work out how to lift the wand's predisposition to priori incantatem with Harry's wand? Seems like a good explanation to me.

I dont know if you can do anything about priori incantantem, I dont think he would have any control over that, but I did hear a theory that Ravenclaw's wand could have been on the pillow in Ollivander's shop and tht would be a horcrux, i'm not sure put its plausible that it was put there and now Voldie is taking it and puting it in better protection.

i go with ravenclaw wand in the window and olivander knew this and tried to give it to dumbledor but voldemort found out and tried to get olivander and he either fled or got capurted

voldy kidnaped him so the graveyard thing wont happen again but harry saved him in the 7th book
